Had fun recording this live in the 1970's at Christ Church Cathedral in Vancouver Canada. We had a 65 piece orchestra and a 150 voice choir. My name is Ed Jurak and I was the recording engineer that recorded this with 38 microphones on an 8 track Scully recorder.
Very trippy. Loved this. Parts of it almost sound like Aphrodite's Child from the 70's.
By the way, even though this is called Maranatha, I'm not sure this was ever associated with the Maranatha Christian record label. There was some great Jesus music from the 70's. Maybe it is finally being discovered now by the secular world.
Had no idea such music existed under the Christian prog genre - thanks so much for posting! First 2 1/2 minutes sounds like a cross between BS&T and Colosseum - 60s jazz-fusion meets 60s prog band. Wonder if Maranatha was influenced by either one of them...
@prog4evr I thought of Chicago and the song Take 5 the first 2 minutes :). I really love this music, and being true Jesus music is awesome! The 70's music had dynamics, you actually can play/sing soft and strong and everything in between. Something the music today seems to lack many times..
I remember Maranatha from the 70's - it was hard to get a hold of their stuff, though. You could only get it in Christian book stores and not all of them carried good music! This is great! Thanks for sharing!
was this remastered? a lot of the cymbals kinda get lost in a gate or compressor, it seems. still very enjoyable to hear! ;-)

What an incredible find! I'll admit I'm not too keen on the music. However, the concept is excellent.

I love long Compositions, Often turn out Epic to some degree if properly made.
