@IdentNone ...Thank you sweetie. I am sure you are an agreeable and docile little girl and I wish you a bright future. Just don't get into making porn videos my sweet little child because those men will use you my sweet little girl.
@TheWanderingLPer I've noticed the tendency for people who are fans of MLP to apropriate their own appelations for practically everything, which is somewhat irritating but whatever. the Term AMV has always been used for Animated Music Videos regardless of country of origin for over a decade, hell even video game footage to music videos are more often than not referred to as AMVs. In fact, even so much as making a distinction between Anime and Cartoons as separate media is a North American trait.
Largely due to the Animation age Ghetto which exists soley there, in that Animated works in North America are commonly thought of to be for children, and so works that are designed for older audiences are met with disdain. Only in the past two decades has it become acceptable for Animation to be geared solely towards adults, but even then only in the form of comedies such as the Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama and South Park etc. In Japan, Animation is viewed as no less valid than live action.
Animated Action Adventure series geared towards late teens/early twenties are almost completely non-existent in north america. The closest we've got in the past two decades are shows that are designed for older kids/young teens (Gargoyles, Batman TAS and the rest of the DCAU, Avatar The Last Airbender, Young Justice) or for adults only (Spawn).
@TheWanderingLPer It does, at least it did originally, but over time it's become a catch all acronym to describe everything else with the same basic idea.
My opinion? It's not Ana or Paula. It's ninten. Think about it. "You can call me pollyanna, say I'm crazy as a loon. I believe in silver linings, and that's why I believe in you". He befriends a strong catholic girl, a shy grey haired nerd, and a gruff 20 year gang leader. Yet, he doesn't let that get in his way. He sees the good in his friends.
@WalterREBoRN I think that Ana is singing it and that her full name is actually Pollyanna but people(Famicom) shorten it to Ana because of the letter capacity. It is also sung by a girl.
@Akira3231999 That would be incorrect, because in Japanese they would have plenty of room to write that, and even in the Japanese version of Mother she's called Ana. Plus, in the Mother encyclepedia it states her name being Ana and nothing more. The song's only called Pollyanna because it's based on the book "Pollyanna" about a girl who is happy in every situation.
Keiichi Suzuki and Hirokazu Tanaka wrote the music for Mother 1 + 2. Tanaka is the composer of other famous soundtracks like Metroid, Tetris, Duckhunt and basically all the Nintendo music which wasn't by Koji Kondo
I wish they have made more meaningful music like these! This music sent a messege! Earthbound's music, though may not be for everyone, should be appreciated for how much meaning and power it relishes behind each song. You never expect that from video games today. Long Live Earthbound!
@Zangamarth come to find out..A little bit is in earthbound..when the sun in rising after Buzz Buzz was killed...A little segement of this song plays...
There was always something about Earthbound that I love so much.
It's science fiction brings out our wonder and curiosity for what is unknown and beyond, it's friends bring out our love for unity, it's goals bring out what is truly rewarding about helping others and ourselves, and it's endings show our resolutions as we grow.
Earthbound is the perfect game for kids, it celebrates the everything in and about the world.
@Mingaggins Pollyanna has been stated a few times to perhaps be Paula and Ana, but it's also a kids book about a girl named Pollyanna, who always sees the silver lining in everything, an optimist. It's a very sweet tale. Course, I don't know if that's intentional on... was it Koji Kondo on the music for the Mother series?
I'm sure the names Paula and Ana had a lot to do with the choice of sing name, but here's a fun fact: Pollyanna is a children's book about a girl who is always optimistic and finds a silver lining to every situation
@pleschinski Actually they said that the song was based off the movie Pollyanna, which was based off the book. I think Ana and Paula were, if anything, named after Pollyanna
Or " How to change a great piece of art from one of the greatest video game ever to a shitty song souding like it has been made by a cheap 80's band. "
@felorobotoscope well, its hardly an instructional song. You do realize this is actually the original song, right? The 1989 original? Meaning it was genuinely produced int he 80's, the lyrics are what was meant to be included in the song, and this is how it's intended to sound. What's the point in hating on the official soundtrack version of it if you claim to like the non-vocal version?
@felorobotoscope personally i think it sounded good 80's good but good and again this is the original the one in the game while great in its own right isn't the original
@rattregoondoof The game was made before, the game version is the original one. Even the first vocal version was not this one, it was the japanese one that you can find in the OST CDs.
Pollyanna, may your virtue and wishes touch and inspire everyone who hears your wise words of uplifting wisdom. By god, this song is so delightful and inspiring.
This song, and maybe the game Earthbound, is about peerless optimism in the face of unfathomable evil. It is strange and funny how something like an SNES game can be more spiritually moving than any religious sermon, maybe because it's so unassuming.

@SegaSaturn64 to be bluntly honest they would only make it worse (consider what im comparing it to) earthbound is a more or less finished story with very little left to go on and if it isn't one of if not the best game ever then there is no earth
@rattregoondoof well, they can at least remake the old games. it doesn't feel right having ness only appearing in super smash bros. maybe someday they'll make remakes.
@MarioAnimalCrossing i have never played the games. but i wish i could and i'd wish they'd remake them for the younger generations. they look like alot of fun.
Shigesato Itoi and your team. You've created 3 wonderful and inspiring pieces that has never made my look at life in such a different angle much like Yu-Yu Hakusho, One Piece, and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.
No RPG has ever made me experience this many emotions and it is by far my most favorite of all time.
Thanks for the entertainment! I hope to have the same passion and care for my games as much as you guys have! ^^d

@rattregoondoof well, they can at least remake the old games. it doesn't feel right having ness only appearing in super smash bros. maybe someday they'll make remakes.
SegaSaturn64 3 months ago
@SegaSaturn64 yea they could do that without being unfaithful to the original.
rattregoondoof 3 months ago
@rattregoondoof true that.

@SegaSaturn64 Agreed. I wish they'd remake the first Mother.

@MarioAnimalCrossing i have never played the games. but i wish i could and i'd wish they'd remake them for the younger generations. they look like alot of fun.

@SegaSaturn64 You can. Recently a fan translation was finished for GBA Mother 1+2. Google it. :)

@thedragonb0y So I'm not the only one who feels like they have a different approach to life after watching One Piece! (Especially after Baroque)
You may say I'm a fool, but there's not much I can do.
