  • wonderful playing. just a shame about the background.

  • the background music is from 笙, like a small wind organ

  • The Japanese have preserved the very ancient Chinese music from Han-Tang Dynasties

  • Beautiful.

Almost timeless and so deep, like a river flowing very slow.

  • @yannmosann

  • Gagaku is hard to understand to common people because it's played "too slow" for them to capture the tune. There are some faster modern versions on YT which makes the tune easier to listen to.

  • Thats because it originated in the Chinese imperial court in during the Tang and Song dynasties and slowed down purposefully.

  • Etenraku also can be heard in the film Ugetsu Monogatari and Sans Soliel

  • really?! i love ugetsu monogatari...one of my favorite movies, i was always so in love with the music that was used but never knew what kind until now that i'm studying about it on my own. ^_^

  • This is the music in'The Peach Orchard'in 'Kurasawa's Dreams'as the court characters dance. Wonderful it is.
