The Catholic Church doesn't tell people not to read the Scriptures. The Scriptures are read daily in a cycle that covers nearly 3 years; one passage from the OT; one from the NT and one from the Gospels. I think 'Bobby's message' that religion is an "over-simplification" is an over-simplification of itself. It would be my view that although he may have read certain PORTIONS OF HOLY WRIT, HE IS CERTAINLY NOT GENUINELY VERSANT WITH IT.

@sky7861 He's only being intellectually honest. As each holy book claims each other holy book is rubbish, then at best, all holy books are rubbish, except one. Bobby just thinks this possible one exception is not the case, and who knows, he may be right. Regarding respect, it is not intellectually honest to respect something you believe is rubbish. One should not respect a mathematics book that does not prove its equations, but instead simply asks you to take the equations on faith.

The Catholic Church doesn't tell people not to read the Scriptures. The Scriptures are read daily in a cycle that covers nearly 3 years; one passage from the OT; one from the NT and one from the Gospels. People were once largely illiterate so they were discouraged from private interpretations and/or couldn't read the Bible. We are encouraged to read and study the Scriptures. Bobby seems a very sad genius.

@keepaopenmind , in the 4 part interview posted, he clearly said the Holocaust wasn't real in the sense of how its been reported. He hinted that it was exaggerated and the real truth is jews who rejected zionism were left to be locked up. He also said that jews dont like to work and that is why the work sign was posted at Auschwitz. He mentioned that the Red Cross examined every camp to count the dead for 5 yrs and came up with under 300K. Most dying from typhus.

@777Lazerus Thanks, but what 4 part interview? Questioning the figures is not denying the Holocaust. Max Dimont in "Jews, God, and History" writes that 5M Jews died in the concentration camps, and 7M Christians, probably mostly Poles (whom Hitler considered sub-human), also died.

the way i see it there's 3 aspects to a good religion
a zen (solution to life through exposure to an unlimited number of variables), a relationship (filtering of these variables to prevent confusion and chaos), and a philosophy (the overlay of how a culture can achieve social stability, prosperity, and intelligence).
although fischer does put a good argument out for being open minded, there's a lot about how a government can eliminate and eradicate poverty w/o going communist that got ignored.

god exists, but not physically- only in idea form (kinda like the concept of zen). i've heard something from the billy meier contact case that universes go through stages before something as infinitely flawless as god is created. there's extremely ethical and developed civilizations that can represent god and do meaningful things as a result, yet for the most part corruption will win out very often in helpless cattle planets like earth, where the greys herd us into esoteric distraction.

unfortunately Bobby went down the drain in his later years hating everything that could be hated... he hated the Jews and EVERYTHING else he hated always needed to be blamed on the Jews... but he was Jewish himself, son of a holocaust survivor too and yet he claimed the holocaust was a lie... He may have a IQ of 187 but he's the perfect example of how book smart doesn't equal a good person or a rationally thinking one atleast. Being both a genius and insane ran in his family though.

Fischer had an IQ of 187: he could melt lead with his mind. His mother spoke 7 languages and studied medicine. It is believed his biological father was a Hungarian Physicist. The young Bobby was absorbed by chess, and in later life was aware of his lack of an all-round education. I think he played the provocateur as a game of cat and mouse to circumvent this deficiency. He was a chess genius but was still a frail human at the end of the day who craved love and
