not all the time. sometimes there is a small piece of foam attahed to it that pushes down on the strings. it slightly mutes the note making the electric bass sound more like an upright. you can also get one for your bridge if you can't get a pickup cover.

As far as I know, the pick guards are simply aesthetic; they're for show. They shouldn't affect the tone at all.

My teacher once told me that back in the days, people thought that te magneticfield created by the pick up was bad for your health, so they put a cover upon it :)

I tried pulling up the strap so it's higher up but that was awkward and too low obviously was... too hard to do too. So what do you suggest? Getting junior size or... keep mine?

Hey!

If you're not done growing up, keep it and try getting used, but if it's really a problem and you think you won't be able to learn fast with that scale, take the junior size one! I've got a junior size bass (Fender Musicmaster) and it's really comfortable to play on it :)

So I'm buying either a junior size fender or a fleabass. I was thinking of a musicman but that'd kill my wallet of course haha so I think something cheaper would be a lot safer and efficient. Same with guitar i cant play standing up because i have the bad habbit of not standing up and playing, so i dont have the nack of it. Just keep practicing standing up and trying not to sit down and play is whats best.
