I downloaded the Nvidia gpu client & i have a 9800gtx+ with fans on 100% so it stays under 70C but the thing is it's only getting 200 - 300 ns/day why is your 8800gt getting 400+ ?
@drakio99 I overclocked my card like 50 clocks on core shader and memory and it went to speeds of 650ns to 975ns ;3 Huge difference those 50 clocks made.
Maybe i didnt get it right (new to this) but doing 2 WU per hour is actually fast?? Im running a CPU client on Windows 7 and doin around 2-3 WU per hour... I just started doing it yesterday around this time (6pm PST) and i already have 45 out of 125 WU competed. And my Resource Monitor shows that Im only using 50% capacity of my CPU. Im running an AMD Turion II Ultra-Core Mobile M600 2.40 GHz with 4GB of Ram on 64 bit OS. My video card sucks balls
Look when this video was posted. Also look at the specs of the card. The WU isn't necessarily the important part - its how many PPD you're generating from those completed WU's.
WTF?? How can your 8800 GT FAN SPIN SO FUCKING FAST?.. Mine is stuck at lousy 30% fan speed.. Making my card going to 108c when gaming, and that sucks..
with my ATi gpu, i keep getting vpu crashes. i have the latest firmware. i even set the fan to 100 percent and underclock it, and set it at only 70 percent usage. but still, i get vpu crashes. anyone know how to fix this?
because gpus work diffrently from cpu as a cpu contains the ALU and the onboard cache which the GPU does not. Intel and AMD are working on a CGPU processor check google for CGPU
hi im running folding@home using my 9600gt but im only one person on my team id if you want to help me my team number on folding@home is 157252 8xxx and 9xxx cards
I got mine with nvidia power pack, and I have evga GTX 260(180.48 driver)and Q6600 @ 3.4GHz and it does not look like yours. My F@H is kind of lagging. My performance is 240ns/day. How am I going to raise my performance
ok go to google and typeGPU client for folding@home and download the client from there website make sure you goto configuration settings and set cpu usage to max and download rivtuner to increase fan speed (cooler) and shader clock (more ppd points when folding)
btw the 1993ns was cause i reloaded the progam anyways i got 2 4870x2s and top out around 700 iter/sec i dont know how much ns or ppd that is i tried to research but i couldnt find valid iters for the PS3 280 and other 4870x2s
Well its not up to ATI, but the folding client developers. ATI have had the new CAL dll's in place for a month now, but still no fahcore can take any advantage.
ROFL... your response is pretty much the same is mine. Astonishing. Have you seen f@h stats recently? Something like 40,000 ps3's producing 1 petaflop. Meanwhile 11,000 nvidia cards producing 1.5 petaflops lol
What kind of rate do you get in the non-cuda client? With my HD4850 it takes about 1.5 hours to do a WU at standard clock, 1-ish overclocked. I want ATi to get there language going going so we can have this, without needing to do it the hackish way, like with physx. Nice score rate.
Got an 8800GT too. I'd advise not overclocking the memory so high as it tends to be a surefire way to brick it according to many unfortunate users. Also for folding @ home results you'll want to up the shader more and put the core down. After folding for 12 hours straight it is at 75C which is pretty good but once you hit 85 you start hurting the card pretty bad. I'm getting 5k points a day with an overclock on my e8400 (3.6 ghz linked FSB ). I love F@H and I can't wait to see the results!
I was getting about 4700PPD until i shut down the computer. And yes, i'm aware that the cards with Qimonda memory IC's dislike being pushed hard, ihad mine at 1050Mhz for gaming, but for folding, memory speed makes almost no difference, as the data set is so small. It was downclocked back to its rated 1000Mhz Speed.
Would be awesome to be able to build a "folding box" consisting of a fanless, low power desktop CPU, but have 4 GPUs (either two dual-GPU video cards in two PCI-Express x16 slots or 4 video cards in 4 PCI-Express slots).
Does the GPU folding client support multiple GPUs? That would be awesome.
Once the Radeon 4850 is out, crank the clockspeed up on it and voila - 1 TERAFLOP of processing power.
At the moment, this is considered SLOW compared to the GTX280 and the forthcoming Radeon's - but still waaaay faster than even the most expensive quad core :)
I do 950 NS/day :) doubel you more or less, i use a gtx 560 ti OC'd at 900mhz on the core

Dude a WU will not finish in 30 minuets !
U are running at about 450 ns/day it should take you about an hour and 50 minuets to complete 1 WU !
My gtx 580 palit card @ 1450 ns/day-1500 ns/day takes about 50min to an hour and 10min !
Think before you say dude !

real question is why arent we using gpu's to assist the cpu? its obvious they are far faster
joeybognar 3 years ago
If you mean for F@H, the reason is that the cpu is much more flexible in the types of work units it can handle.
The GPU and PlayStation3 work units need to be much more specifically coded to run efficiently/at all.
hope that helped
