I hope that this was the first of many tournaments.
Oh, I didn't know that he got only white, sorry. And only 5 months of training... Well, then it's could still be a bit better, but that wasn't bad for white, you're right. ;)

I like to see children practicing karate.. But, always must remember true karate is not tournaments and trophies.. It's way of life :)

It IS a poor Shodan Kata. Not knocking the kid at all, but he should do that kata for a grading first, then try tournaments.

Not good. I saw other young people wich did more difficult katas way better.

for a white belt with 5 months training and first tournement I belive he was not that bad.
