  • I'll let my hair grow for halloween

  • For some strange reason I don't think that would look as good with my Norweigen hair -.- phooey :/

  • Easy peasy...

  • Woow! amazing video :D

what is the name of the song? I love it!

  • what are the title of the songs in this video?

  • wow!!!!! such a work of art!!

  • i love how he's smiling throughout this whole video.

  • absolutely luv this hairstyle nd this culture.... but wen the effin yellow screen wit tha words kept popping up i wnted 2 punch my laptop :-[

  • @poohbaby3346 I'm still learning about my movie maker still, next time I'll be more careful

  • @japaneseladysamurai hope 2 c it!! ;-)

  • hi! great video! i very much enjoy the japanese language and culture so thanks for uploading!

may i know the name of that beautiful song?

  • where can i get zen katsura

  • The hairdressers of that time were amazing.

  • hmm... i think this would be best left to a professional... doin' your hair up like that would take alot of dexterity ( imagine having to twist your arms to reach back and put your hair into those elaborate chignons)...and who has that amount of hair !? of course you're gonna need more hair than what you already have...

  • What is the name of the 2nd song? =]

  • @liltita22 i may be wrong but it sounds like sakura sakura

  • Did you know that Geisha's have a bald spot on the middle of their head's?? It come's from all the hard pulling, twisting and that rea bees wax. This hair style (if you're going to it often in it's original way) is actually torture to you're hair and head. But I still love Geisha's and their history. Thnnx for the tutorial, that guy is amazing <3 ^^

  • @SisandEve yes I did, for older women who used to geisha in the olden days it was considered a medal of honor. But in todays world (especially for this tutorial) you don't have to pull that hard

  • what's the name of the song?

  • most beautiful

  • sorry if this question was asked already - was this a human hair wig? or synthetic ??

  • @kimktn human, the hair came chinese donors

  • @kimktn why would it matter if you can do the style on one youll be able to do it to the other

  • @kimktn This is a video showing the styling of a Kyoto Geiko's wig.

Maiko or apprentice Geisha/Geiko have their own hair styled but fully qualified modern Geiko (Kyoto dialect for Geisha) are allowed to wear wigs, so they can have everyday

    hairstyles when off duty.

Further information can be found in Women Of The Pleasure Quarters by Lesley Downer.

  • What if your hair is much too short to put the hair up in this style?

  • @Dinker27 you can style a long haired wig, as I said in a previous comment there are many websites that can show you how. Or you can buy one pre-made, try ebay or amazon :)

  • @japaneseladysamurai My fault, I didn't look at it. Thank you. :)

  • this is really good, though at first I was a little confused about wich were the back and the front of the head, because of the lack of face and everything LOL but I really liked it

  • I Love this video,it was very helpful!! Thanks for posting it :)

  • what is the name of that song , sung by the woman

  • @ariana0388 Name of the song: Hana - Satoko Ishimine. Beautiful song and voice!!

  • Do you know what styling product is used? It looks almost like a wax of some sort...

  • @Carsucci it is real wax, made of rea bees.....they keep it melted in a pot,so it is very very hot,and it goes cold it becomes solid and keeps the hair in place.but believe me,you dont wanna do it.did it once,i still have nightmares with it.lol seriously,it hurts a lot.

  • Amazing! Video has nice quality! And he made it look really easy! But I still feel like I wont beable to do it to my hair! lol Love how beautiful it came out! I guess it wouldn't hurt to try it! Thanks for the video loved it!

  • @neopong13 Thank you for your kind words :) I'm happy you liked it. It takes a bunch of practice, trial and error. Good Luck though :D

  • I've always wanted to dress up my girls as geishas but the hair part is so hard. The hair came out beautiful though but looks hard. He makes it look so simple....

  • @sassylatina808 it's not as hard as you might think though it does take practice. However many people resort to styling halloween wigs, there are many websites that show you how or you can go to ebay where you can get one already styled in the desired fashion :)

  • @japaneseladysamurai Thank you for letting me know. I forgot to check Ebay and Amazon. Mahalo & Aloha...

  • @sassylatina808 You're welcome :)

I have a real looking geisha wig though I forgot the name of the website :( but I found other sites that sell real looking wigs, there is one on ebay that is actually from Tokyo Japan. Happy hunting :)

  • Would anyone know the name of this song and who sings it? Also, if it's on an album available still?

  • First of all, the descriptions were unnecessary. The audio quality on your video is awful, too. Still, this was informative.

  • @darksakuraolr Gee thanks [:( If you didn't like it you didn't have to watch it.

  • @japaneseladysamurai that's just YouTube watchers. I think they have to post something negative on nearly everyone's post. I absolutely love this video and music. I wish I knew how to get this song.

  • Awesome whats the name of the song

  • im being a gesha and im making my cosplay woot

  • @firefish821 alright :)

  • @japaneseladysamurai the kamono is red with black cherryblossoms

  • @japaneseladysamurai and the rest is black with red dragons

  • Comment removed

  • Whats the name of the song? also i love japanese culture. I can't wait to finish college and go japan with my friends :)

  • man this guy is talented!

  • Hmmm... I think I'll try this with a quality wig.

Not a cheap halloween one ofcourse. ;)

Altough for a try out.it can...

I have to short and thin hair to do this proper with my own.

  • @MorbidAutumn There is a website that does sell halloween geisha wigs that look like that actual thing in fact I have one :D But this tutorial was for girls that have hair that is too long to wear wigs.

  • wow! im amazed! that iron is so classic.. :)

  • @japaneseladysamurai Im not sure if i could put my hair up like this because my hairs just above my shoulders and its quite thick so how would i do this??

  • @LadyBellx You could use extensions or use a wig, I actually found halloween wigs that look very authentic and are affordable. However, even if you did have long hair performing this style takes trial and error. Alot of practice :)

  • perfect tsubushi-shimada style, for shape and shine they use a special wax called bintsuke abura

  • @beefypunk Yep :) But if you want to recreate this hairstyle for say Halloween, bintsuke abura is hard to get a hold of and is pretty expensive, so....use your favorite hair products :D

If you DO want to get a hold of real maiko and geisha products go to the websit hannari-ya(dot)com

  • Hmm, european hair just dont keep form like this(( Theres no any hairspray or smth in original technology, right?

  • @IadoreFrerard There should be, use what's best for your hair

  • Finally! A Video that shows mw how to do it the RIGHT way! Thank you!!

  • awesome!

  • neat,i love to learn about other cultur.

  • @Aerisofdestruction cool me too, I'm part japanese so I also like learning of my heritage too :)

  • @japaneseladysamurai i know,it said so on your channel, and i enjoy studying all kinds of cultur, because it not only broadens your horizon, but gives you a better understanding of people as a population.

  • awesome,my sister always wondered how it was done, and now i can show her, thanks!!

  • @himurakenshinfan19 your welcome :)

  • The best tutorial I have seen so far, well done.

  • This is incredible... I wish I had long hair to try it! The song is pretty, too.

  • @RidiculousRent thank you

  • @RidiculousRent the song you find pretty is about a mother crying over the death of a 12 years old japanese girl who hanged herself in shame after being raped 7 years ago by 3 american GI's near the american basis of iejima in the archipelago of okinawa and about the 2 millions civilians killed by bombing during the world war two in okinawa alone.
