I never saw Praed again (that I recognized) after he went to Hollywood - he had every right to pursue his career, but it destroyed the magic that his character generated in the Robin Hood series. He had that brooding quality that made him seem dangerous and unknowable, even though he was a little guy (he had a big bow) - Jason Connery was just too amiable, the dramatic tension of every episode was he'd have a snit and refuse to explain himself. Well, the Hooded Man couldn't live forever...

LOL! He is not a 'little guy' either, he is 6ft 1 and towered over me when I met him in March last year. He is such a sweetie to meet, too.

He will always be my favourite Robin Hood,  no one can match him in that role.

Yes, I've seen about 6 actors do Robin Hood, over the years, and none but Praed made the character romantic -

the show aired in DC in the early 80's at 11 PM Saturdays - the entire family (self & wife & 2 small children, boy and girl) would hurl ourselves on the sofa and wait for the spell to be cast - Clannad's music was essential, too :)

Michael Praed is the best robin hood ever. Jason Conery was good but not as good as Michael Praed, I wish tv shows were like the old days the 80's early 90's when it was good and not like a lot of stuff today more special effects to keep people glued. BBC ruined robin hood. The idea of MP in camero in BBC Robin Hood no way that's like a mockery him cameo in the worst robin hood series ever no. The bbc version they killed off marion.

Bet that if young children saw this series, if itv repeated it on itv1 instead of like the last time weekdays 8.10am and advertised it as the repeat of the greatest robin hood to have ever existed would drag in a lot young children and teens would be worth it. The bbc robin awful show they use the same forest in the series in their merlin series to which again is a bad idea put on screen 3 episodes of merlin and i was bored. Wish there had been more robin of sherwood episodes love it.

God ya I saw the first episode of season 1 of the bbc robin hood i laughed the minute i saw their robin hood he is just wrong for the part. One of my friends loves it so sat through i episode for her i was soooooooooooooo bored and i love robin hood but it was just atrocious . The itv robin of sherwood nothing can compare to it it is the best ever and nothing can top it. After season one of robin hood bbc the ratings were so bad they almost canned it. Wish they had.

I have just watched series 1 & 2 of RoS and it is brilliant - really took me back. All the outtakes are inc. in the box set. Michael Praed would have made a great James Bond (and still would!) The BBC should give MP a cameo in the present series.
