This is a special song to me and you did it so well. It was sung at my Daddy's funeral 60 years ago and someone cited the poem "If You Go First and I remain." I had it later on an old 78 by Tex Ritter. Thank you for using your talent for Jesus.
What beautiful lyrics which you sing so beautifully, Bird! As sad as it is, it is also a song of assurance to those who know where they will spend Eternity!!
I use it today to send to my friends, asking for prayers for a couple of friends who are about to meet with Him, much sooner than we would like!
I was asked (a year ago) to sing this song for a 90 year old - I'd never heard it - so I found your version of it (among others) and I learned it your way.... sang it your way with a catchy beat to it.... and voila I got lots of compliments...
Thank you Bird for singing this. It's my first time hearing it and I like it, words and music and your singing and the scenary. :) I also found it in one of my hymn books.
Thank you for this uplifting version, it meant so much to me and I heard more in it than I ever did when my Dad played Hank's version in my Dad's depressed state.
@PistolPete2 This is not a sad and deary beat to this song. As you said, some like fast and some like it slow. I am one who appreciates this tempo, too.
I know some like things slow, but I believe in the joy of being a Christian so I try to make my music upbeat and joyful rather than sad, slow and dreary, but I certainly appreciate your oppinion. If we were all alike it would be a boring world! God bless you and hopefully there will be others that can slow it down for you because I want you to be happy too!
I always sing this song at my late wife's graveyard and it gives me hope of seeing her again one day soon at the resurrection morning when Jesus would call His faithful children who have gone ahead to their rest.
This song was sung at my Father inlaws funeral so it always carries along with it sweet memories of my father inlaw who loved this song so much! you have done a marvelous job with this song Bird! thanks so much!
I love the way you sing all your music just great

FireAce44 Many of today's religions are built around
emotionalism and not much else. I do have issues
with that.

Beyond The Sunset
Beyond the sunset, O blissful morning.
When with our Saviour heaven's begun.
Earth's toiling ended, O glorious dawning
Beyond the sunset when day is done.
Beyond the sunset, no clouds will gather.
No storms will threaten, no fears annoy.
O day of gladness, O day unending.
Beyond the sunset eternal joy.
ezcnus 3 years ago
Beyond the sunset, a hand will guide me,
To God the Father whom I adore.
His glorious presence, His words of welcome,
Will be my portion on that fair shore.
Beyond the sunset, O glad reunion,
With our dear loved ones who've gone before,
In that fair homeland we'll know no parting.
Beyond the sunset forever more.

There are fast songs and there are slow songs and I like both. Some songs were just
never meant to be played as,"Christain Rock".
PistolPete2 3 years ago
Hi Pistol,
I guess I just never thought of my version as rock. I guess as an artist I tend to embrace diversity more than most. I'm sorry you don't care for it.
God bless,
Bird

@PistolPete2 you consider this song to be "rock song" or Christian Rock? Then you have serious issues.

Your voice is melodic and you do the song complete justice. There are way too many dreary versions of this beautiful hymn.
Thanks for making a wonderful song!!
