I remember when this song hit the top 10, Casey Kasem told a story about Laura stowing away on the ocean liner the SS France, when she was a senior in high school. It was a pretty funny story.

As a straight vocalist, Branigan is far superior to the above except for Shania, who is about her equal. Dion windblasts everything, that doesn't make for very effective singing. Branigan is far more subtle and intelligently let's the tension build.
Branigan should have been a bigger star but she was never backed by the kind of material and production that deservedly made Madonna the most massive female pop star of the 80s.

Laura passed away in her sleep August 26th 2004 of a Brain Aneurysm...she was only 47 years old... One of the greatest singers of all time will be missed...She had a beautiful voice..... R.I.P Laura. (JDapro) Canada
