If you know the answer to both questions, then you'll see why a JDAM can be killed. So can HARMS, cruise missiles, and even low flying combat aircraft like gunships, and fighter jets. Do the research!
Well let me clarify a bit more. A JDAM is a bomb that is retrofitted with a kit that allows a controlled downward fall towards it's intended target. It doesn't have a propulsion system of it's own meaning that it's speed drops very rapidly. For an ill equipped adversary, like the Taliban in Afghanistan, this weapon is bad news. But against a more sophisticated air defense, the JDAM is a sitting duck. It can't maneuver, and can be destroyed midair using low to mid level radar guided munitions.

When did I say this particular weapon, the one in this video can destroy a JDAM? It is obvious it's function is in the battlefield against low level threats like gunships, UAVs, and low flying jets (ie A-10 Warthogs). Yes I was referring to missiles when I said "low to mid radar guided munitions". Missiles are munitions too. On the other hand, don't count autoguns entirely out. While Iran may not have them, Russia does build variants that can shoot down targets flying up to 4.8 km/sec.
This is the weapon that has been discussed in my original post, has been all along. Can't change your tune once you start singing. Iran does have auto guns (the video in question), so don't say Iran may not have them. There are many autoguns for CAD/LAAD and they all have one problem. They can't engage multiple targets quickly as they tend to overheat. Still very good weapons against low and slow.

Looks like a very complicated piece of military hardware. The radar tracks targets from long range, and the optical computer calculates the guns trajectory in relation to the cross hair. Radar gives the range of the target, and the optical computer calculates the muzzle velocity of the gun and the angle the gun should be shot in relation to the cross hair.

If war breaks out with iran it will not depend on military prowess, it would be economical. The iranians would shu off the straight of hormuz, stopping 20% of worl oil export, the price of oil would subsequently rise 50%, and would trickly down to every facet of the economy. Even if the Irainians couldnt hold the str8, they'd just mine it. and there would most likely be shipwrecks, it would take motnhs to clear up, all the while the Revolutionary Guard would be firing down from the hills above.

You apparently didn't watch the video in it's entirety, or you just plain didn't comprehend the concept behind this weapon system. Do you know what an IADS is? Do you know what a JDAM is? If you know the answer to both questions, then you'll see why a JDAM can be killed. So can HARMS, cruise missiles, and even low flying combat aircraft like gunships, and fighter jets. Do the research!

Well let me clarify a bit more. A JDAM is a bomb that is retrofitted with a kit that allows a controlled downward fall towards it's intended target. It doesn't have a propulsion system of it's own meaning that it's speed drops very rapidly. For an ill equipped adversary, like the Taliban in Afghanistan, this weapon is bad news. But against a more sophisticated air defense, the JDAM is a sitting duck. It can't maneuver, and can be destroyed midair using low to mid level radar guided munitions.

Do you really think that this weapon will kill targets moving that fast? Thats why every real military has gone to missles. And it has to be defended according to you. It is obvious it's function is in the battlefield against low level threats like gunships, UAVs, and low flying jets (ie A-10 Warthogs). Yes I was referring to missiles when I said "low to mid radar guided munitions". Missiles are munitions too. On the other hand, don't count autoguns entirely out. While Iran may not have them, Russia does build variants that can shoot down targets flying up to 4.8 km/sec.

This is the weapon that has been discussed in my original post, has been all along. Can't change your tune once you start singing. Iran does have auto guns (the video in question), so don't say Iran may not have them. There are many autoguns for CAD/LAAD and they all have one problem. They can't engage multiple targets quickly as they tend to overheat. Still very good weapons against low and slow.

Well this video is showing an Iranian autogun but that is not exactly what I was referring to. Both a Kia Sephia, and a Porsche 911 SC are cars, and either can take you places, but there is a world of difference in performance between the two. But I'll leave it at that. I actually do have a life outside of YouTube.

And who cares if they hit one or two JDAMs they are cheap and a B-52 can drop enough to overwhelm such obsolete air defenses. Maybe against helicopters and A-10 type aircraft, but again radar on...gun dead.

Looks like a very complicated piece of military hardware. The radar tracks targets from long range, and the optical computer calculates the guns trajectory in relation to the cross hair. Radar gives the range of the target, and the optical computer calculates the muzzle velocity of the gun and the angle the gun should be shot in relation to the cross hair.

It does fire at about 1100 rounds per minute which is pretty high for a single barreled weapon of this caliber. Also, it is a 37mm weapon so range is very limited.

If it makes the Iranians happy and provides abit of work I see no harm in this project, it's not like its ever going to hit anything anyway. All US and isreali fighters carry ECM pods easily capable of nemoving this threat not to mention as you say the range is limited, far to limited for any usefull anti 'US forces' capability.
