Why does such an unpopular party (Conservatives) get re-elected twice and, most recently, to a majority? A party that receives only 39% of the popular vote should NOT be governing with a majority.
Proof of the polls, the longer parliament is prorogued support for the Liberals are rising. Even the polls are saying the dedicated Conservative aren't supporting Parliament's prorogued. Harper needs to stand up like a real man and deal with the detainee abuse and Canadians do care about our MPs because WE pay their salaries. Or maybe its Harper's "hidden agenda" is to eliminate democracy?
@onexeyed If he tries to eliminate democracy, he should be arrested, regardless if he leads a political party or government. I remember a quote "When the law ends, tyranny begins.". True Canadians should be more vigilant when it come to respect for our type of democracy or a tyranny would take over.

Big deal! So Harper prorogued the house. This might just be an opprtunity for some of these politician to mature. They are ALL to divisive and had better start pulling together. The whole bunch are all self-serving and partisan. Ignatieff is NOT a leader. Layton is NOT a leader. Harper is just the best of a bad lot. Who in their right mind would want to be in politics anyway!
As you say. "Someone in charge just did something really stupid". But Canadians aren't that stupid. We get that Harper & his antics are a threat to our democracy. Look out next election Stephen. You just woke some very angry Canadians up.
So the Canadians lose their apathy when someone in power really messes with them! Unlike here in the States, people are apathetic unless someone screams out "Big Guvmint!" or "The Gays!!" Well maybe that's starting to change what with Obama trying to push through a health care "reform" that is no reform at all but will cost $100bn a year and the US Supreme Court deciding that corporations can have unlimited influence on our elections.
Definitely. Harper has worn out his welcome BIG TIME. Last week I went to Michael Ignatieff's open forum discussion at McMaster in Hamilton, ON. He's the fresh face that Canada needs. He has a comfortable relationship with the press, as he used to be a journalist himself. He is also more informed about different parts of the world because of his journalism career. He also takes the time to answer questions from citizens. I don't care if he spent 30 years in the US - IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE!
I think you're talking about Harper. He prorogued Parliament over the Christmas holidays because he said that Canadians just didn't care. NOT SO. Look up all the interest groups and pages that have popped up on Facebook and other websites.
true. hated when the news tried to come up with explanations as to why no one voted....like they didn't know why! no one deserved a vote...I still voted though, but understood why no one else did lol
It's a good thing Harper is his own worst enemy or we might end up with him as king of a majority government. It's to bad that the opposition parties are so stupid that they can't muster enough opposition to take the government down and I do mean Iggy.
Also this time round we had crap to choose from when voting. It was the first time I felt like I was voting for the lesser of all evils and then Harper won and I felt like vote didn't matter and we were screwed. As per usual I was right. This is one of the rare times I'd rather be wrong. Unfortunately that doesn't happen. We should stick him in a box with some food and water and ship him to America.
I have always hated Harper. Now I hate him more. It's like we have our own version of Bush or at least a Bush wannabe. I didn't vote him in. I'll never vote for him.
Ahhh...I remember the good ol' days....when Joe Clark got voted in but not because Canada wanted Joe Clark IN...they wanted Trudeau OUT! THAT is when Canadians knew the power of the vote AND exercised it !
this is the worst crop of Canadian politians ever in history. I hate ALL of them and by that I mean I hate the leaders, the potential leaders, the cabinet ministers, the senators, everyone...the best of the worst is Harper over all the other shit that we have to choose from. I'm a registered Liberal but i'll never vote Ignatieff. I hope we appoint Charest.

Id titty fuck the tories in the ass.
Watch a session of the house. They are a bunch of buffoons on parliament hill.
I say, the people suspend parliament and let the academics clean up the party system. Its a joke.
Why do you think Canada has all time low voter turnouts? Why do you think the youth dont give a shit? Answer: because its a bunch of bullshit.

@mcs2mac is it a laugh track or the studio audience watching/laughing?
rhettnyedotorg 2 years ago
It's not a laugh track, the show is filmed in front of a studio audience, that's the recorded reaction of the audience.
