I believe the reason why he cancelled the baneling nest is because he sent an overlord into Boxers base just before (7:27 video time) and saw boxer had a thor, a factory with tech lab and was putting down 2 more factories so he felt like he needed a heavy unit like roaches and that light units like hydra + z/b ling would get crushed against mech/bio. I am sure if he saw 2 more barracks being put down he would have kept the nest.
