I remember sitting in a four door '36 Ford with four on the floor and suicide doors complete with a windscreen which you could push open and this was on the AM radio.
Carl, this is another great 50's transfer by you. The stereo like dynamic range is great. This must have been master recorded on the famed Ampex 350 deck with it's high s/n and response made all the better by your magic touch!! You are always great!!...Super Hugs from Lloyd.
Hey Mr Westtoledoguy... You must be a big fan too... Do you follow anybody else's music besides Jimmy Clanton's? There's a couple more that, when I listen to them,
I feel just like a teenager, in love, on a summer's night! That's one of the best feelings I can think of.
@LoveEyesGirl "In love on a summer's night".. I could't have said it better. Those teen years in the 60's were the best ! Just to relive one night would be heaven on Earth. I'm so glad I was a teenager in that particular place and time
@Westtoledoguy When I hear these lod rockers like Jimmy or maybe his running mate, Frankie Ford, I ask myself, "How would they do on American Idol?" I think Jimmy, with his plaintive voice, looks, and friendly personality, would win pretty easy.
But what am I saying? Jimmy got a record contract all by himself while still a teenager. First song was a gold record. Wrote most of his own stuff too!
I saw Jimmy at a concert in Mongomery, Alabama - 1962. Me and another guy hitchhiked all the way from Fort Benning, Georgia to see him, Connie Francis and Ace Cannon. What a show. Saw Jimmy again at an oldie show in Jackson, Tennessee - believe it was 2004. Still love his music. Thanks for the autograph Jimmy.
@Westtoledoguy Yeah, that would be cool. At the oldie show I asked Jimmy if he remember the concert in Montgomery. After a second or two of thought his eyes lit up and he mentioned Connie Francis and Ace Cannon. I told him about hitchhiking to the concert. He autographed one of his CD's and gave it to me. Pretty neat!

I believe this was written in just a few minutes so Jimmy could record something when someone else failed to show up at the studio.
