I wonder what you have made of this year's World Figure Skating Championships Ice Dance... you comment here: " How soon till we have two MEDALISTS?????"... well, wow, the USA does and all three medals went to North American teams... ! Congratulations from the UK
@muscleboi4use Yes, hard not to have a happy day with such excellence.....although I am also a big fan of the French team........shame to have a slip......but maybe they all even out over time.........I gasped about as hard as I did for this fall back in 1981.........They are all so incredibly, and unbelievably good these days.......it is quite a World cultural event...........hope you are well. thanks for commenting. best wishes
To be honest, I always preferred this team to Bestemianova/Bukin. (I preferred Klimova/Ponamarenko over B/B too). But, a fall is a fall. Sure, what is done is incredibly difficult but I think a fall should cost more in Figure singles that it does too. I really don't think ANYone could match '81-'84 era of Torvill/Dean. But definitely Silver with their Fred & Ginger routine and I loved their Sheherazade. (The '84 Olympic marking for that was atrocious!)
@mdcbert .. I concur w/ k9henrydog. I don't know how he spells his name in his personal life and I do have a Jewish friend who spells her name "siEBert," but I have never seen his name spelled differently than "SEibert" on any of the results sheets I have seen--ISU or USFSA.
I've been trying to find the 84 Olympic program of B&S doing thier free dance to Scheherazade. No one seems to have posted it yet. Anyone have it to post???
I'd LOVE to see it. They were definitely given the shaft in 1984.
I must say this kills me to watch. If they hadn't fell here, they would have had a great chance of making the podium, even coming 2nd. That could have altered the results drastically leading up to 84. Or they could have just been held down anyway. STILL-B&S are two of the best skaters ever-- no matter what!! And will always be the top North American dance team ever for me-- Ok off my soapbox!
Yes, there was a news article about them entitled "A Career of Ifs" that certainly hit home. So many forks in the road that could have led elsewhere.....but we always arrive where we're supposed to be....so kay ser rah!! (to quote Doris Day!!)...This was SUCH a hot number though....shame it was wasted!! They did it well at Nationals, perhaps someone can post it someday??!! best wishes hope all is way-L.......
That's a very unsportsmanlike comment by you, Borg!!....and terribly unEnglish!!! It's only been 27 years Z, I'm just not ready to laugh about it yet....although I usually love a good butt thumping!!!!! lol best wishes
Thanks for posting this. It must have taken such courage to get up and continue, as though nothing had happened; knowing that their chance for a medal (never mind the Gold) was gone.
i thought you would like this one....I always thought it unfair that they say ice dancers can never fall down????? free skaters fall all the time with no real effect. Ice is slippery, i don't care what your doing on it. We fall in practice all the time, why would you not occasionally fall in competition! But it still costs you several places!!

He is always listed as Seibert in ISU, USFSA literature, and a reference book I have. but thanks.....best wishes

Yep, they always misspell my name. Sei is the most common misspelling...
