How the overclocking affected your gaming performance? Did you get higher fps in games? I also have a q6600 G0 and a HD4850. I don't want to change my video card until the new series of HD7000 or nvidia600 comes out. An overclocking would do for now. What cpu cooler should i buy for overclocking to AT LEAST 3,2 ghz?
can some1 tell me how to oc q6600 from 2.4 to 3.2 in pavillion ? and is it eaven possible ? btw i switched pwersupply from (original)liteon 300w to chiftec 550w one and changed gf card from some crappy nvidia to ati hd4850, if i try oc will my pc explode ? :D
what is this about ... :S i have mine without any problems and no high temp. at 3.4 ghz :S from the start i bought it still not having any trouble ... and im really a noob at overclocking just did my thing ...
@CoreMaster111 That sounds about right for that VID. That's almost exactly what mine's on and it runs just fine, never goes over about 65C even under max load.
Nice vid. Mine runs at 3.2 GHz and 1.392V completely stable. The only thing that gets my panties in a bunch is that my cpu temp is approximately 50C. Does this seem too hot for you??
Well done video, thanks for keeping your camera steady and going through the screens slowly. Much better than a lot of the overclocking videos where the narrator is going at a hundred miles a second and flipping through the screens so fast that you can't see WTF is going on. Excellent job!
I have an AsusTEK Benecia p35 F8000 mother/mainboard and I need to know if it is possible to get the bios to let me overclock. My motherboard is OEM and "crippled" to stop OCing, please somebody help its eating away at me :(
I've been running my comp for over a year with these settings with no issues. Things do run hot so make sure you have plenty of fans to keep the inside of your case cool and I would suggest a good heat sink on the cpu - not stock intel.
@MrVojne yeahh....but i have to correct the answer when i installed cpu-z i saw that its not workin...i did something wrong....could it go on my motherboard ga-965p-ds3p? ty
@tinmandlin don't really know, try and if it doesn't work then i don't know what to do....try to change the cpu voltage and the memory multiplier to a value that don't oc your memory to much
@tinmandlin don't really know but you can try to change the memory multiplier so you don't oc your mem's to much also try to change the cpu voltage to a lower/higher value......when you save the settings to BIOS and the comp. restarts, if you enter the BIOS then, is the settings diabled/resored to default then?
@weenershnitzel336 As long as your Q6600 is of the G0 stepping, a 2.8Ghz OC will be quite safe for stock cooling. Set your FSB to 400, drop your CPU multiplier to x7, RAM ratio to 2.00, MANUALLY set your CPU voltage to its "normal" value, DONT just leave it on 'auto'. Then reboot and try some stress tests, if you get errors or crashes then add 1 notch on your CPU voltage and try again, don't go over 0.5v higher than your 'normal' value, if temps are under 65C at 100% CPU, you're fine.
i just checked my pc and my multiplier is 6x and i'm running at 1.6, i tried these settings but the pc won't start, returned to default now and it starts, is it safe to put it to 9X multiplier without changing any other options ?
@2much2teach Yes, assuming you have the Q6600 2.4ghz (check on dxdiag) it is 100% safe to put it up to x9 multiply if it's only on 6. You are checking on the BIOS, right? Because when Intel SpeedStep is enabled it automatically puts it to 1.6 (x6 multi) when the computer isn't using much resources. However if it's set to x6 in the BIOS then it is safe to set it to x9.
god every single q6600 video only shows how to do it on a gigabyte mobo, I have an asrock and am new to overclocking, can't figure out how to get past 2.7 :/

I running a Q6600 on a gigayte p35-ds3l. with 6gb ram (2 gb ocz reaper and 4 gb samsung both are 6400) I overclocked to 3.2 with 4gb (2 ocz and 2 samsung) it ran stable for one day....then added another samsung 2gb ram...and the nightmare begun..lol....any idea....Another question i don't know why on the bios under tweater my Memory Frequency (mhz) is 667 intead of 800 any idea?...thanks Guys!
when i increase the cpu frequency i save the changes and when it reboots it goes to the system checking and when it comes to the memory rate it reboots again with the default settings :( can somebody help me please?
same setup as in my video? if yes just set the CPU Host Frequency to 375 and try to set CPU Voltage Control to the same value as in the video and the do a stability test on your system
it's always risks with OC's, but so long you have controll on the temps then it should bee any bigger problems, but like RaVeN19Dizzle says a OC can damage more items than your CPU, for example you motherboard
well i did the same things u did to ur OC ,but when i start the pc the system is restarting and restarting. or even a blue screen come out. What to do now?I have done the same thing u did except overvolting ram.i also have 667 dimm ddr2 sry 4 my english i i make mistakes...
try to set the System Memory Multiplier lower then 2 or leave it at 2 and set the CPU clock ratio to 9 and the CPU Host Frequency to 350 or 355. The reason to why you comp. always restarts is because of that your memory gets to OC with the Memory multplier at 2 and CPU Host Frequency at 400, with that settings your memory wants to run in 800 mhz when they are built to do 667 mhz. You can also try to only change the volt on the ram.
should i get a macbook pro or a new desktop with intel i7 but the macbook pro has a really great proccesor with over 2.83 ghz so.... tell me ammm planing to buy one of them
After looking into things more. I ran the Everest stress test the temp went way up to 46c̊ then I Converted a DVD to Div x and it only went to 32c̊.

i followed what u did in the video, but when i save and exit, my comp restart again and switch into safe mode(previous set up). hence i cant over clock my pc.
have you checked so you changed same things as me, because if you hasn't it could get that type of problem, have you set the cpu volt as mine? and what's your memory speed?
I got the same processor as you, but i have a GA-P35C-DS3R motherboard. If i set the settings exacly as you, will it work? (I have a sweet cooling system so that's not an issue) Oh yea and i got a GTX 295 if thats important too ;)
Dood worked like a charm on my Ep43-DS3L with a Q6600 and ocz 6400 ram.
thx man I've been trying to overclock this thing for ages. BTW running stock hs and fan, but I think I'll grab a heatsink and fan now. Maybe an arctic cooler pro - there like 30.00
hey voj i got the gigabyte board and i overclocked my cpu to 3.2 q6600 with a new cooler max temps around 60-65 idle is around 40-50 i wondering do u think i could go higher without damaging my cpu in the long term? cheers alex
the rec. max temp on one core is around 90 celsius before something bad will happend to it, i have tried to oc my cpu to 3.8ghz but then the temp gets very high and my system crashed (around 80 celsius per core). so i reccomend you to oc your cpu to a
level where it works with stable temperatures and on a level where your system doesn't crashes all the time
i don't really known :P, i have mayself tried to get my to 3.4 or higher but without good results, you just have to try and try and try and try even more
well i know that i have to up my voltage or ill get stuck on the windows loading but im afraid of doing that because too much voltage and my q6600 will be fucked up
Hey man, I have a question. I also have the same mobo and cpu as you. I was wondering if you regret getting the gigabyte ep35-ds3 because you cannot run SLi. I have had people tell me that it's not a big deal, but I'd like the option for the future. Right now I have an 8800GT 512mb. It's fine for what I need at the moment. I'm happy, but what made you choose the motherboard?
the first reason to why i choosed the motherboard is that that was in a package offer that I really want to have, the second one is because it looks great and
meet my requirements. I was was you, then had i wait some time until I had bought a new motherboard and a SLI graphic card
it depends, have you checked with different program or just one?
becasue if you set it to for example 400*9 = 3200 then will it become 3.2GHz, but some programs shows wrong and shows that your CPU Clock are set to 3.6GHz

@bnskks The main concern is heat. If you provide better cooling for an OC processor to counteract the heat, you'll have no lifespan reduction.

STELIOS155 2 years ago
try to set the System Memory Multiplier lower then 2 or leave it at 2 and set the CPU clock ratio to 9 and the CPU Host Frequency to 350 or 355. The reason to why you comp. always restarts is because of that your memory gets to OC with the Memory multplier at 2 and CPU Host Frequency at 400, with that settings your memory wants to run in 800 mhz when they are built to do 667 mhz. You can also try to only change the volt on the ram.

what do you set the SPD to if you have pc 8500 ram? (1066mhz)
hacking4hire 2 years ago
if you set it to 2.66 then will you get the stock speed on you memory, if you want to oc your memory the try to set it to a higher value
MrVojne 2 years ago
dude how far can you go on this processor with the stock cooler?
alex1sports 3 years ago
i don't know but i think 3.0-3.2GHz
MrVojne 3 years ago
maybe higher
MrVojne 3 years ago
hey voj i got the gigabyte board and i overclocked my cpu to 3.2 q6600 with a new cooler max temps around 60-65 idle is around 40-50 i wondering do u think i could go higher without damaging my cpu in the long term? cheers alex
Galltrial 2 years ago
the rec. max temp on one core is around 90 celsius before something bad will happend to it, i have tried to oc my cpu to 3.8ghz but then the temp gets very high and my system crashed (around 80 celsius per core). so i reccomend you to oc your cpu to a
level where it works with stable temperatures and on a level where your system doesn't crashes all the time

If i buy the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz and do what u do in video it become 3,2 100% with no risk?
IlPorseo 3 years ago
hey man
we have the same pc except the video card
anyway
can you help get my q6600 to 3.4?
what voltage should i use?
currently i have 355FSB, 1.3 CPU Voltage and 3.0 SPD
How do i get stable 3.4?
thanks!
OmgItsDedi 3 years ago
i don't really known :P, i have mayself tried to get my to 3.4 or higher but without good results, you just have to try and try and try and try even more
MrVojne 3 years ago
aww man ok
well i know that i have to up my voltage or ill get stuck on the windows loading but im afraid of doing that because too much voltage and my q6600 will be fucked up
OmgItsDedi 3 years ago
ok, but it's always a risk to overclock your hardware :P,
MrVojne 3 years ago
Hey man, I have a question. I also have the same mobo and cpu as you. I was wondering if you regret getting the gigabyte ep35-ds3 because you cannot run SLi. I have had people tell me that it's not a big deal, but I'd like the option for the future. Right now I have an 8800GT 512mb. It's fine for what I need at the moment. I'm happy, but what made you choose the motherboard?
Louis0nFire 3 years ago
the first reason to why i choosed the motherboard is that that was in a package offer that I really want to have, the second one is because it looks great and
meet my requirements. I was was you, then had i wait some time until I had bought a new motherboard and a SLI graphic card
MrVojne 3 years ago
Hi I'm gonna get this card
Gigabyte EP35-DS4
Do you recommend it for my q6600 ???
bitchslapper12 3 years ago
i'm having the ds3 and can recommend it for q6600 but a ds4 should works fine as well :D
MrVojne 3 years ago
sweet i've got an EP45
neardood1 3 years ago
Is this manipulation the same for a GA with an EP45 chipset ?
Thanks
Mistic64 3 years ago
no idea :P if it looks the same, try to change the settings, and if it doesn't work try to set the vcore to some step over/under 1.41875V

LOL my pc was at 3,6 ghz when i did this tutorial
quickwolf 3 years ago
it depends, have you checked with different program or just one?
becasue if you set it to for example 400*9 = 3200 then will it become 3.2GHz, but some programs shows wrong and shows that your CPU Clock are set to 3.6GHz
MrVojne 3 years ago
nice
you should push it a bit higher though :P
i hit 3.6 easily on air with a b3 revision
frankie827 3 years ago
ok, what does you set your vcore to?
MrVojne 3 years ago
roperrr 3 years ago
