I think that they should have been suspended for at least 2 games, but being a college athlete, it is a job. You don't do what your boss tells you to do at a job then you are fired, so Eaton took it upon a job to make sure his employees did the right thing. Protesting should not be on the Grid Iron or any other sports complex. You are out there to play the sport, not protest, show it on the score board!

In fact I had to ask several of the coordinators for history day on what to do about that and they said that I needed to present it as it would have been during the time so that is why they are referred to the way they are. I also had an African american judge at the national level. She didn't comment about it on the sheets.

See, this is my problem with all NHD documentaries. How can you call it that, when it has no video. I mean, these are the basics when you start video production. It needs more video and like 1/5 picture not the other way around with 4/5 pictures and 1/5 video. That is the whole point of a video, it moves. I'm not saying it was bad, just I would expect more for Nationals, you know.

no. if you want mostly video, you are going to most likely choose a more recent topic. It is in the rule book that your topic should be at least 25 years old or old enough to have an impact on society. This time period would have affect the amount of video footage you have, and really, the judges don't care on the amount of video footage to pictures.

I don't know what the judges check. They don't share the information of what they do with us. All we get from them is a judge sheet with comments.

I am doing a documentary for this year...It's alot harder than it looks. I'm hoping I can have it finished on time. Our teacher is really pushing us with this. You did a good job on this tough.

Problem with NHD is, I want to do a good job, but I don't want the responsibility of having to go to states or anything. xD

Why not? It is much easier going to state than to go to the district competition because of the fact that you don't have to make a project from scratch! My first part of the competition this year is Tuesday. What about yours?

you need to slow down with your speech, even though you won nationals, i myself was a national place and was given notes saying if your video wasnt so crammed and the speech not so fast your video was fantastic besides that. this fast speech will not work in the senoir divison

Check Jimi Hendrix National History Day Project, also done by my sone when he was 13. Won local and regional competitions, went to the State (SC) competition, but did not go to the nationals. I believe that the subject-matter hurt him with the judges.

Wow! This is great! I am doing an i-movie this year for History Day on Ernest Green. I have some questions: How many sources did you have? How was talking with the judges/did they ask a lot of questions? Do you think they focused their judging on the historical content rather than how good the effects were on i-movie, and how far do you think I would get with 7 1/2 minutes so far?

the questions really depend on the judges. they will ask on the historical content because that is what history day is all about. they might throw in one or two questions about how you made the documentary but not too much about it. As you can see, my documentary was ten minutes to the nose. I don't think 7 1/2 minutes will get you that far. If you are still working on it, try to get it to at least 8 1/2 or 9 1/2 minutes long

well, i am in like 6 min. now, and just for the recard, i just want to get a 75< grade, i really dont care about medals or throphies or even a thousand dollars. I really hate all these big projects like science fair and all that crap. First of all, no one ever whants to be in a group with me. But thanks for the info, if i was doing just great in texas history i would just put a picture of a donkey and scream really loud and on the competition turn the volume all the way up, but thats just me

eh...I did a group website, and we got 2nd in Regionals, but unfortunatley did not place in states. Because website is a new thing at States, they mixed the individual and the group website together, so altogether there was like...50 people we had to go against. :(
