somebody knows were i can find subtitles in spanish for this serie? i can`t find it ! or a translator for the subtitles in english, i really need it! thanks, greetings from argentina!
God, I miss this show. I miss it like an old girlfriend who's moved in her own direction as much as I've moved in mine and who I couldn't realistically get back together with, but I miss it all the same.
@bravogolfhotel Me too! Are you aware of the irony of the character of Luther Mahoney? The actor playing him was Erik Todd Dellums, son of Congressman Ron Dellums. In real life one of Erik's brothers is serving a life sentence for murdering a man over a bag of marijuana
what the name of theeoisode of Homicide: Life On The Street about a shooting motivated by one character's destruction of another character's copy of Game, Dames and Guitar Thangs.
This homicide episode (The Documentary) is the most schizo episode in that it has the most incredible "must see" sections divided by the most empty "don't bother" filler sections in-between. Because of the GOOD parts it is an absolutely must see. See it.
no. the original Law and Order started before Homicide. Also, L&O is done by Dick Wolf while H:LotS was done by Barry Levinson.
The character of John Munch played by Richard Belzer is probably the familiar face. After Homicide ended, Belzer began playing Munch on the new L&O show SVU.
@ponda1 : No, the regular law and order was airing well before Homicide. Richard Belzar/Munch is the only one to have his character carry over into other TV shows.
At least we can all agree and say that Homicide is like the father of The Wire. The Wire is most likely what David Simon really had in mind for Homicide but couldn't becuase of that damned NBC restrcitions. Homicide was still a great show though.
Homicide is exactly what David Simon wanted. Season One was based on the detectives and events of the Baltimore Homicide unit, with different stories afterwards. The idea for 'The Wire' must have come afterwards. Thanks for putting this up!
@Notebookwriter1 agreed. If you've ever read the book that Homicide is based on, you can see so many real life cases and anecdotes that ended up in both shows.
Well, yeah, I'd agree that the Wire is better, but keep in mind that Homicide didn't have anywhere near as large a budget, nor the creative control of the show granted by HBO, or the proven critical acclaim of Homicide to bank on. If you read the book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets, you can find passages that were filmed verbatim in both Homicide and the Wire.
i have the book, i just haven't got around to reading it because i'm kinda busy with Michael COnnelly's books. There should really be a Harry Bosch movie!
Homicide had better police characters but the Wire had better characters overall. And this makes sense, Homicide is mostly a cop show whereas its really tough to call the Wire just a cop show.
It's New Year's Eve and just had to revisit this great upload, great music, great show, Yea, BOOM BOOM BOOM ALL NIGHT LONG!!!!!!!!!!

The Wire is far better.

@bigg130 That is because it is up to date. The idea from the Wire originated from Homicide: Life on the Street.

Law and Order started in '89 so no it didn't grow out of this series. they had a lot of crossover though.
