Very good review!! I also own and Beat LT which I bought in Nov 2011, I am not able to find the parcel tray. Has it been discontinued for 2011 version?
Dude, I have not come across a walkthrough of the Chevy Beat as awesome as what you have here!
Makes it easier for me to know decide whether to go for it or not!
Are you reviewing more cars too? Coz most reviews only skim through the features with snazzy music and credits. I like your Plain Jane version way better, coz when you've bought the car the music stops and it all then rests on your own experience, bad or good!
@Azerax thanks for your feedback, I am open to reviewing other cars too, have completed close to 15K kms on my beat, another update to this review post oil change
@bhautikjoshi Oh Great Buddy! To tell you sometimes a simple run-all-points-thoroughly review works the best... Am kinda contemplating between a Beat and a Figo, and am quite confused actually... Can you help?
@Azerax Figo is the car to go for in case you are going to drive your family a lot on weekend drives, by family i mean proper utilization of a 5 seater hatchback, with all required luggage that families carry for a trip. I found Figo's cabin equally comfortable for a front seat passenger as compared to Beat, not tried back seat comfort check, however driving Beat feels much more elevated compared to Figo.
@SweBerra Please check manufacture date without fail new Beat now comes with SmartTech engine which comes from Feb 2011 production batch, do not trust the dealer, check for yourself
Hey if possible, please add part 3 of review covering the aspects like trunk/boot space, a car driving video, a view inside the bonnet, etc. I am planning to buy this car but have not found reviews more informative than yours. Thanks.
No problem with Beat in those patches, i hardly changed any gears while driving, with passenger load and proper weekend luggage the car pulled off well on 5th gear with A/C on in the ghats, only on one patch at the start of the ghats while returning back to pune post first toll booth i did observe a slight lag still the car climbed at a speed of 80 km/hr on 5th gear with a/c on in that patch
Highway driving feedback - Sheer power after you cross 2K RPM on 5th gear on the highway, pushed car up to max 140 Km/hr at that speed to NVH was excellent and no wobbling of body noticed. I checked the performance on specific ghat areas of mumbai pune expressway where my alto used to run out of juice and i had to rev my car hard on 3rd gear to climb ghats
Bhautik, Thanks a lot for the review. This really helps me a lot. Including the discussions below. looking fwd for the part 3 review. been thinking to buy one between beat, figo, i10, A star. One Thing i noticed is the pillar that comes in front while driving. i believe that matters especially at cross roads and taking turns(left). If i am convinced that it can be covered, i can say this is the best of the lot.
@mail2myid thanks for your feedback, the A pillar does obstruct driving judgement during heavy traffic conditions, which i am experiencing currently while driving in heavy rain condition, you need to keep your senses alert while driving in such conditons. And i would suggest you go for a TD of Beat, Figo and i10, Don't go for A-Star in my opinion in case you are cautious about space, in case you still want to keep it in your list check the new A-Start automatic.
hello......thanks for ur valuable review......n yes m on ma way to book a beat within the next week.....so lookin forward for ur review on the ride quality n the mileage fator........a very beaytiful n efficient review thanx a lot.......i wuld like to know bout if a sunroof option s available n the car.....
@dhanushram20beat On the Chevrolet website there is an option available to get sun-roof installed for Beat as an additional accessory, however i would suggest not to go for it in case you it is not so important for you or if you require it for any specific purpose, since it put additional load on the car battery and there is a chance of water seeping in during monsoons in case it gets damaged
@nihaalahmed thanks for your opinion nihaal, i did shoot the boot space clip, forgot to include it in my review! probably would include this in my third video review
@anishmonteiro Thanks anish, i had ritz on my upgrade list however i dropped it becuase Ritz VXI variant falls close to Beat LT variant pricing and does not give a CD player, rear wash viper, automatic climate control and i never look at Hyundai cars as an option because you would have already started seeing i10 and i20 visible as a common sight on roads. Plus the body roll effect in i10 is much evident as compared to beat, connect with me on my gmail id i can provide you further inputs
First of all, thanks for the nice review! In fact your review is straight to the point unlike others (like NDTV, CNBC etc). I really don't know why they keep talking rather explaining the features of car. Now, how you feel about engine and mileage? Some people say it gives 10 kmpl in city and 12 in highway? is that so? Please post your comments. Thanks again!
@thambs246 Thanks for your feedback, on car reviews on tv - It's too much jazz and less material to be actually spoken about, they mostly compare different cars and they also are in a situation where they have a lot to show and little time in hand, every second counts for them i suppose. About mileage i have clocked my first one at 10.60 city driving - regular petrol - RPM driving range of 1.5k - 2.5k, looking for further improvement, would keep all of u posted
ooh, thats a way lot less from what the company claims. Keep posting your comments as its really a owners experience. Looking forward to see more from you!
@thambs246 yes, for now it is definitely less, my suggestion to all new beat owners would be that there would be some learning you may have to go through in order to get the max out of this car, this relates to some changes in driving habits. i am going to observe the FE for next 2-3 petrol refills, if situation does not change only then i would take it up with GM.
@thambs246 Today, I test drive BEAT. It was god. The LT comes around 480,000 RS. LT option is even higher - around 530,000. Its pretty expensive than the price on website. If you dont mind, how much it came to in your case. I checked the mileage, they say atleast 15. You could ask the engineer to have a look at yours. Good day!
@thambs246 Hi in my case Beat LT came up to 4,67,000 on road price, i got 4K corporate discount on this price. Now my FE has improved after 2nd - 3rd Petrol refill it is coming up to 14.50 in city driving, with 1-4 passenger load. Driving in heavy rain condition, constant use of de-fogger and A/C. this is with Normal unleaded petrol.
@anishmonteiro i own beat lt giving 15kmpl ,i think every piece is not consistent with beat i heard someones giving 18kmpl and also less than 10 (overall)
@pavanipani Thanks for your feedback, yes the parcel tray has being discontinued
