What year is your car? My friend has a RX8 too and it has a 10k tacho (redline starts @9k) and limiter is @ ~9500rpm - all stock, no mods / tuning

@kalaandroid : SP 192 hp french model originally real 7500rpm max redline.

the 231 HP model goes real 9000 rpm in fact, not 9500 like you think.

@NETWizzJbirk : in reality on the PCM the max redline is 9600 rpm. A friend of mine did try 10000 rpm on his HP 231 engine, but if you always run hard on track for example then you need to add oil (not the dexelia this time) in the petrol tank.

if you talk about the redline limiter, at that time we put it à 9600rpms.

nowadays, i came back stock redline (7500), waiting for a new map that we will limit to about 8600 or 8800 rpm.

adding MSD ignition coils would be also the best thing to do, i will work on it soon.

@expertmax1 : yes and no, if you read my comments, you will see that the car had 4 wheels/tires on the back seats and the custom Hymee map was in fact not very good, version 3, soon i will run on a now well build version 16.

moreover, the performance at that time are pretty bad if you do a timing :D .

@expertmax1 : cartographie sur mesure, sachant que la base est le moteur Renesis 4 port, volontairement bridé à 7500 trs réels contrairement au 6 port bridé lui à 9000 trs, poulie allégée Agency Power, admission Ram Air Racing Beat sur boite à air décloisonnée, ligne d'échappement complète SSAutochrome/Hymee (collecteur, décata, catback), allumage neuf d'origine + cables Magnecor et bougies NGK Iridium. Manquait un allumage renforcé en fait, type MSD (le top) ou Okada, ça va venir.

j'ai discuté hier avec un préparateur spécialisé dans le Renesis, il conseil vraiment un "premix" si on roule sur circuit à très haut régime très souvent, 20 cl d'huile dans le réservoir d'essence, reste à trouver la meilleure huile : motul 300v ? royal purple (laquelle ?) ? j'attends la fin de ses recherches.

@Tsargate Motul c'est le meilleur choix ! Pour la piste, je te conseille de la 50W (huile monograde) et pour utilisation de tout les jours, le grade d'origine de la voiture.

@virusgood1 : 450 Australian Dollars, this is on old map (the 3rd), soon i will be on the 16th evolution, rev limiter will be lowered at 8800 real rpms, no need to go more than that on my 4 port SP 192 model.

@tuugfo : well indeed if you compare this video to a S2000, specially if you look at the description i made, the car was just not running well in fact, and i only have a 192hp version.

now in reality, if you take a stock Rx8 231and a stock S2000 you will find that the performance are pretty similar, which is good for the Rx8 because it is heavier and it has the reputation of lacking power.

i also the S2000 anyway, but i don't need a roadster.

@KeeT4Life : it's been almost one year now, and engine is fine, major cause of engine failure are not rpms on the Renesis but bad ignition.

Mine is checked every year, and since the video the map has been changed to a 9th version.

@tristantao : i recommend you change standard coils to MSD ignition coils or OKADA ones. Because standard coils are really poor and don't stand the heat when you do a custom map and have a sports manifold/header.

@tristantao : well ignition coils should be checked every year in my opinion, if they die, do a compression test of the engine to make sure everything is fine, and then replace them by Okada if you want good plug n play stuff or if you like mecanic then put the MSD system (complex to install).

PCM rev limit tuned only at 9600 exactly at that time on my 192, nowadays we decided to put maximum 9500.

but i have friends with 231hp models that go to 10 000 rpm :D .
