Yeah, you still need to check your facts. The Berkeley Alumni base has a giving rate of 12%. The money that the alumni give are not part of our endowment. The donations become part of athletics and the Cal Fund. The Cal Fund is an unrestricted fund that the University uses for all student services. The endowment is not money donated from alums, rather, by corps exclusively for research or emergency purposes.
I work for the Cal Fund, so I know about this. Thanks for trying, though.
UCLA has been part of the UC system since 1919. Assuming that first class graduated in 1923 (Not a sure bet that UCLA students finished in time...), your oldest alum should be around 100... I think that since most people don't live longer than that, the alumni base for the two schools should be pretty similar, which leaves only one conclusion, Cal is stronger because of its superiority. There is only one University of California, and it is in Berkeley. As long as the UC leads the West Coast in research grants innovative breakthroughs, UCLA will be nothing but second fiddle. (Maybe third after UCSD. Sounds far-fetched? I'm not the only one making far-fetched comments here...)

The regents rotate their meeting sites, and they have it at in Los Angeles because it is more central to many of the UC schools (Irvine, Riverside, Santa Barbara, and not too far from San Diego). It means NOTHING about the future of JCLA. JCLA will always be Cal's shadow. You should check out the UCOP website for details about that and stop speaking out of your ass.

You're the one with a complex, especially since you keep trying to prove why JCLA is better than Cal. We all know it is not true, we have rankings to back that up. Do you have any solid information to back up that the UCOP is planning on investing more on JCLA. I highly doubt it.
You still have not answered why UC Berkeley is ranked higher in the publications than JCLA. The pride of the University of California comes from the original one, the one located in Berkeley.

The fact do speak for themselves: UC Berkeley is ranked higher than JCLA in all publications about colleges. UC Berkeley gets more monetary donations from companies and corps for research. Why is Berkeley's endowment larger than JCLA's?

Yeah, you still need to check your facts. The Berkeley Alumni base has a giving rate of 12%. The money that the alumni give are not part of our endowment. The donations become part of athletics and the Cal Fund. The Cal Fund is an unrestricted fund that the University uses for all student services. The endowment is not money donated from alums, rather, by corps exclusively for research or emergency purposes.
I work for the Cal Fund, so I know about this. Thanks for trying, though.

UCLA has been part of the UC system since 1919. Assuming that first class graduated in 1923 (Not a sure bet that UCLA students finished in time...), your oldest alum should be around 100... I think that since most people don't live longer than that, the alumni base for the two schools should be pretty similar, which leaves only one conclusion, Cal is stronger because of its superiority. Comprende?

There is only one University of California, and it is in Berkeley. As long as the UC leads the West Coast in research grants innovative breakthroughs, UCLA will be nothing but second fiddle. (Maybe third after UCSD. Sounds far-fetched? I'm not the only one making far-fetched comments here...)

Having the most applicants in no way means that UCLA is the best. It could very well mean that the bottom of the high school barrell thinks that they can do well at UCLA, while they know that it will be harder for them at Stanford, Cal, Caltech, or MIT, so they DON'T APPLY.
