but notice how in game it is shown that the pirate homeworld is slowly turning into a new phaaze? what if the phaaze you land on at the end of prime wasnt the original phaaze? and that dark samus is not dead but on the original phaaze, and that the one you fought and killed was a darksamus clone

Yeah, in terms of the Prime bosses, the AU was the weakest. IMO, it went like this:

1 - Emperor Ing

2 - Metroid Prime

3 - AU 313

Which was kinda disappointing considering this was the LAST boss of the LAST game in the series and it was kinda fighting the original boss of the game too on freaking Phaaze. Come on now...oh well, still an amazing series of games.

the last 3 bosses kick your ass on hyper. mainly because there is no rest between them, you keep the same level of corruption you had in the fight before and if you die, you go back to the first of the 3 which is dark Samus. I can only make it to the free floating aurora unit. haven't killed the damn thing yet.

@MrDuckBringer Honestly, Hard Mode on Other M isn't that imposing. You can blow through it in about 5 hours, and while you'll likely die a lot, it really doesn't take much to defeat most bosses. It's not nearly as taxing as MP3 on the Hyper Mode difficulty, which requires a much greater investment in concentration.

Just A bit of advice... When you stun it do the sideways hop thing to get to the back. While you hopping, charge a beam up. I don't think Missles work very well against this boss. Other than that, :)

In fact, now that I think about it, all they had to do was to switch the order! Let us face AU 313 first and THEN have our final battle with Dark Samus. Just by this small change the "player/final boss connection" I talked about before could have been drastically improved.

Of course this would come with the cost of having the same final boss for two games in a row...hmm...this whole "choosing the final boss" thing is more complicated than I thought o_O

I've said from the beginning, what they needed to do for the final boss was have some sort of rewind-thing. They could keep aurora 313's first form, but not this second one. Then, start cycling backwards through metroid-prime's forms. Have some kind of battle where, in it's dying moments, we see metroid prime become dark samus, changing forms quickly in a fast-paced struggle before Metroid Prime becomes what it was in the beginning - A simple metroid.

I do appreciate the fact that AU 313 resembles Mother Brain but I still think it dosen't fit as the final *Metroid Prime Trilogy* boss. Dark Samus is the main villain here, not Mother Brain, nor its look-alike. AU 313 was just like any other Dr. Wily machine. You just want to blow up it up so you can come face to face with the driver, but you never get to. It just leaves a bitter taste in your mouth.

What I really want the most in a final boss fight is a connection between the main character and the boss. You've played through the entire game, waiting for this moment where you can finally settle the score with your arch-nemesis. It's not that you need to. You really WANT to.

I had no such connection with this boss. Sure you fought Dark Samus first, but when she entered the unit guy it was like she didn't even take you seriously.

Dark Samus could have mutaded into her Metroid Prime form so that we could've had our final battle against the very monster that this trilogy is named after. Instead we get to fight this unit guy who we, like, heard only once or twice about during the entire game.

A little trick for AU - Head:

A little before the first form is destroyed, shoot at it's 2 cables which come out of it's head. You'll get Anti-Phazon unit's by doing that. Really helps on AU - Head

Hah I sucked at the Metroid FPS until I replayed them again this year and swept through it.

Metroid is definitely a different FPS than most are used to.

Most FPS is shoot until whatever it is doesn't move anymore, but this one has way more strategy involved and you actually have to think while trying to beat a boss.
