  • This is the best I've ever heard a concertina sound. AWESOME

  • This guy is phenomenal. And whilst there's nothing wrong with the "sound like a fiddle" style of playing, this "sound like a fairground organ" style is just amazing. Three years of practising daily, and monthly lessons, and this video makes me feel like I've barely scratched the surface.

  • its unfair. anybody who is better at concertina than me shouldnt be able to post vids :). i kid, brian (along with jk and spiers) is the best player of the anglo that i know. Though i apriciate that many people think noel hill is the best i dont realy like concertina played with single notes i prefer it with chords like brians doing here. i always thought that if your just playing single note tunes you may aswell be playing an english and not an anglo as the anglo was designed for chords.

  • You did not mention Chris Sherburn in your list of players

  • havn't heard of him im going to search youtube to see what hes like...

  • looks like a younger skinnier Larry David, lol

    I love the Mother/Earthbound series!

  • "would you like to buy anything else?

    no?

    oh, you hurt my feelings..."

love like this song. It's nice to see where the EarthBound music comes from.

  • lol, EarthBound Drug Store.

  • Awesome !:D

  • cool!!!

  • Wow. Heard you do this at Ernie's roadhouse after the Millrace Festival many years ago. A delight to enjoy it again. Brian

  • Ah, happy memories. Nice to hear from you, namesake!

  • WOW.

  • Good grief - heard a fair bit of Anglo in my time but this is truly different! Mind-boggling technique...

  • Thanks everyone for the kind words.

The instrument is a 40-key Crabb in C/G.

Playing standing up took a lot of practice!

  • I wish I could play standing up!(:

  • Wow! What wonderful control of the instrument, and what delightful chord progressions. I am mostly a single-note Anglo player and am in awe of anyone who can play the chordal style (to call it English style Anglo playing is pretty confusing!). The questions that pop up in my minds are: (1)What is your instrument's make and home keys, (2) how many kesy does it have; (3) is that a Pinewoods t-shirt you are wearing and if so, do you ever get to Pinewoods?

  • I loved it!!! I play this piece in an acoustic roots band and never ever thought I'd hear it played on concertina. Woo Hoo

  • Wonderful! Brings a pleasant feel to my day.

Naturally we all want now to have a crack at playing tune.

  • What a joy to watch and listen to. Brian, you are a genius

  • What fun! Never thought of ragtime being played on one of them! Thanks.

    kat at the Mudcat

  • Brilliant anglo playing as always Brian.

    All the best

    Martyn
