Terrible with the vocal mixing. That shit was cranked waaaay too high, especially since Isis' vocals aren't meant to stand out, they're meant to blend in at roughly the same volume as the rhythm section. In short, WTF SOUND GUYS.

We grabbed the sound as a whole from the sound board, this wasn't shot for a major release or anything, so even though the vocals are higher than they should be, i think it still sounds way better than any straight in-camera audio recording

@dirty706 Oh hell no ! As you can see they have layers of 2 or 3 guitars, so when learning Isis for one guitar you have to choose some kind of line that you prefer if you play along with the CD....

If you are starting the guitar, Isis is a great way to train with a lot of fun play. I could give you some tabs if you want.

OK For a start you need a tuner and some thick strings (I use D'addario 011-049 + an extra 060 or 066 for the low B ; on Telecaster so I just don't use the 011 string). Isis play D'addario and they're rather cheap. The tuning is B F# B E G# C# (Drop B).This set of strings will also allow you to play in drop A, for example: Torche have some really easy songs too in drop A.

Some of the easiest Isis songs are "In Fiction" and "Not in rivers..." for a start.

i would say it is difficult to come up with the riffs and rhythms, but generally nothing is too difficult to play when you know how its played... :) its all about the idea which they have a lot! great, great band!

what you are hearing is the mix from the board, with little or no fx like reverb etc. prob to DAT etc., you are missing the rest of the ambiance,crowd etc too. Also if you listen to the album, the voice is always mixed really low in the "back". I guarantee this ain't what the crowd was hearing. A lot of bootleg shit like this is snarfed by the board op...

Isis although, tops any other Post Metal band out there. Opeth is a strong candidate but I would consider them Progressive Melodic Death Metal. Isis and Opeth may you forever reign

I think the type of live show they play fits their older stuff like Pan and Oceanic. The more complicated riff/groove/riff of Absence just doesn't do it for me on stage. I LOVE absence but there stage style seems to fit the big spaced out chords of their old music better. Who cares really.
