I like how you have given this trailer an economic twist that reflects our current times as much or more so than when RKO released it back in the day....
Thanks for producing this angle and sharing with us.
This is the best trailer I've seen for this movie! Good job. I have... believe it or not... never seen this movie. And want to know what its all about. Your trailer gave me what I was looking for. So thank you! Now I'm off to get the movie! :-)
I love " zu-zu's peddel's " timeless classic I cannot imaging the Christmas & Holiday season without this movie , it's an every year tradition at my place , gotta see it once a year...Yep....
Love the movie. Every Christmas week The Grand Illusion Theater in Seattle shows it, an old 70 seat theater that has been showing it on that week for 38 years. Twice I have went when after the show it was snowing outside! Magical.
I must say that watching the Inauguration on 1/20/09 and seeing Cheney in a wheelchair; thought of Old Man Potter talking about the common folk and the Bailey's being:
It's a wonderful fan trailer! My only thought for improvement was reversing the order, showing the clips of George's dreams and aspirations upfront, then following in sequence to Mary/kids, and showing how he unravels. The end clip is perfect with George asking for help from Clarence. Bravo sir!!
Suicide is violent. This man, George Bailey, in the movie was going to kill himself. Are you saying I should have shown that aspect of the movie as light-hearted and inspirational? You and I obviously had a different experience with this movie. But movies are mostly subjective anyways.
For most of the movie I saw a man depressed with the direction his life took. Granted, he had some joyous moments every now and then, such as marriage and children, but even then there was a sadness about him.
And what about the character of Mr. Potter. A horrible man with no compassion for any human being. Should I have portrayed him as a lovely old man? Or how about the man who was severely depressed because his son was killed in the war. That was a great scene, but heartbreaking to watch as he hit young George Bailey on the side of the head. He hit him so hard that his ear started to bleed. Wouldn't you consider hitting a child violent?
But you are correct in calling this movie inspirational. The most poignant inspirational scene of this movie happened for me in the final 5 or 10 minutes when George is no longer depressed. He let go of his depression and embraced just how great his life was and how great he is. He saw that it wasn't as bad as he thought. It was in fact a wonderful life. I love this movie. It is my favourite.
This is a great trailer and captures all of George Baileys life long emotions and sensitivity. If I had never seen this film and saw your trailer I would definately want to go out and get it. One of the greatest movies of all time and christmas just isn't christmas without it. Well done and thank you.
You've made a modern trailer for a timeless picture. This actually should be the trailer for the re-release... this is exactly what Capra had in mind. He did not see this as a nice film, certainly not as a Xmas film - it was supposed to be gutwrenchingly dark and despairing and you got that in spades. The music is perfect.
Saw the original trailer. No wonder the movie flopped. Fan trailer actually understands the movie, one of my all time favourites, and does it great credit. Fabulous. Where were you in 1939 when the movie needed you?
I love the movie and think you have done an awesome job in editing, getting in the high points and setting up the tension, and yes, it is better than the original trailer which I just watched! They completely blew it, and you did it right! Thanks!
Thank you God and the higher beings we call angels. You have shown me my purpose in this life. In my darkest hour you were there for me! Let us all look around in our world this christmas and see our part in it! We are all a part of creation every day. Live life to love!
VERY well done - thanks for taking the time to put this together for everyone. It gets me back in the mood for the upcoming Holiday Season. Have a good one.
Awesome! I love this movie (it's one of the greatest movies of all time, imo) and this was an a great trailer for it; it's nice to see another one because the original trailer to the movie was horrible and didn't do the movie justice at all! Again, great job!
Thank you for the comments. It is much appreciated. I used Windows Movie Maker for the editing. I used Adobe After Effects for the titles, for example the opening with the moon and other titles scattered throughout the trailer. I also used Audacity to mix the various music tracks with the various voice tracks.
Good movie; one of my favorites.

At 0:28 - it's Dick Cheney!
Love the movie. Every Christmas week The Grand Illusion Theater in Seattle shows it, an old 70 seat theater that has been showing it on that week for 38 years. Twice I have went when after the show it was snowing outside! Magical.
I must say that watching the Inauguration on 1/20/09 and seeing Cheney in a wheelchair; thought of Old Man Potter talking about the common folk and the Bailey's being:
nursemaid to a bunch of garlic eaters
For me, Potter is the neo-con

What is the music used for the 2nd half of the trailer?

That music track is called 'God Speed' from "The Time Machine" soundtrack. The composer is Klaus Badelt.

I'm 39 and still get teary eyed at the end of this film.
You did a good job on the "trailer". The movie is full of dark and disturbing images and themes but, as you point out, there is light at the end.
If people would truly look back on their lives and think I am sure most of us could not complain overall.
And remember...all of our interactions with others affects not just us and the other person but creates a chain reaction.
