Wait, That was a Cartoon clip?!? I think the real reason the Simpsons were banned from this kind of thing is because its more true to the actual Fox News format than you think. Only thing that's missing from the real thing is the devil horns and halo and I don't doubt that Fox news are beyond that! Ron Paul 2012!
The official reason may not be the actual reason. I wish you would have talked more about that. For example, maybe it's because fox doesn't want to be satirized or misquoted from a Simpsons episode.
Yes, I think that the average fox "news" viewers would confuse what is said in a cartoon for the lies/nonsense heaved on them by fox "news". ;O)
Yes, it does explain, because it seems as though fox "news" knows that their brainwashed viewers will believe anything that has the fox logo associated with it.
@911SMOM Stupid leaps of logic? Are you saying that every public bombing in first world countries was a so called "inside job?" Oh wait, was 9/11 an inside job? Was it MOSSAD or the CIA? OR BOTH? Was it just a PSYOP? Or was it the Democrats?

it's amazing, cause there used to be an assload of Fox News paraodies by Fox shows.
So... based on this thing that Matt Groening said, everyone now believes that Fox parodies are banned from Fox and that Fox believes it's viewers would mistake a cartoon for real news?
OOOOOH!! I see what you did there, no wonder you used such an obviously satirical name like Liberal Viewer. To think, I almost got trolled into thinking you were this stupid.

Yes. Unfortunately, FOX News viewers are completely out of touch with reality and will basically accept any right-wing notion, especially if it is steeped in Christian ideology, racism, bigotry or jingoism. It is indeed scary to think the US is a modern, progressive nation where over 90% of the population admits to belief in bronze age superstition. The average FOX News viewer would actually prefer to get their daily dose of right-wing propaganda in cartoon form--less to think about.

To be honest (even though i think fox news watchers are retarded and that fox is biased) I believe you are making the wrong assumptions. I believe that fox news was looking for an excuse for why the simpsons shouldnt be allowed to show fox news again on its show. Since they were portrayed in such an obvious bad light that decision from their perspective is only rational. I dont think they actually believe that people can confuse a cartoon from a newsshow.
'Fox News Worried Its Viewers Can't Tell a Cartoon from News?' That's because most of them are religious and can't tell fiction from reality, facts from fabrication and reality from imagination!
DOWN WITH FOX NEWS! Slowly, people ARE starting to realize what Fox and other media outlets are all about... It's time for the News to be News again. 3 part solution: 1. Every channel must provide a 1 hour News program WITHOUT COMMERCIALS. 2. News programs should not be rated by any Ratings system. 3. All News Channels live by the same rules, but are "Pay TV" for revenues as opposed to advertising.
My family, from as old as 90+ to as young as 10 believes everything that is on Fox News channel. O'-what's-his-name is ALWAYS on, and all the other idiots are used as factual, wise individuals that give "insight" into our government.
Personally? I can't stand Fox! They have their opinion, and if they are caught in a lie, they twist the lie until it is so confusing that no one can understand them and just give up trying to make them admit it.
@bluemeriadoc Well not exactly. All parties in europe that are right winged do the same thing. They pretend to be the party that "made this country" and represents its spirit and soul. My point is that that argument is plain out emotional and also wrong.
@gulbirk I'm saying that wanting limited government and personal responsibility isn't wanting to "ruin" the country. (I'm assuming that by Republican you really mean conservative.) btw I'm not a Republican but I am a conservative.
i work as a cashier and I told a customer once how fox news lies al the same and she started cussing and telling me it is 100% truth and every other news channel lies.
The claim by FOX that the Simpsons' parody could be misconstrued is merely a cover concocted by the executives to censor the makers of the Simpsons under the guise of reducing legal liability. They knew openly suppressing the mockery of FN would make them appear desperate and would only serve to reinforce the implications made by the parody.
This is hypocritical you bash the Fox news for having a unfair treatment for clown poloticians when you yourselves go to your news source from a CLOWN SHOW: the Daily Show. Clowns with a suit!
This show laughs at rape, baby killing (abortion), and other deplorable "jokes".
This is why the liberal mentality is so immoral!
Turn to Jesus Christ (not some political standing),
anybody else see the comercial at the beggining daming obama. lol... Lowering taxes on the rich is the problem. its so blatanly obvious that to think you could convince someone otherwise. is just retarded.
The poll you post in this video demonstrates the false basis of "fox news viewers being most uninformed". National average for high knowledge is 35%, matched to the fox news general score. But hey, "Fox news viewers are more misinformed" is catchier than "Fox news viewers are representative of the population at large"
What's the difference between specific shows? O'reilly gets 51% high, Stewart gets 54%. What's the margin of error for this poll? Chances are it's in the 2-3% range. Similar result
Fox news obviously just doesn't like cartoons making fun of it and calling it a biased right-wing news channel like we just saw in the cartoon... why would fox allow that?
Because freedom of speech is the American way. Why do YOU hate America? Just because you have the right to censor or pressure someone to self censor that it's the right thing to do. Supporting free speech is accepting been offended. If you can't tolerate been offended you are a fascist prick. Fuck off!

Unfortunately this video is based on a false story, one debunked by the Washington Post years ago. "'The Simpsons' (the show, not the characters) issued an apology yesterday: 'Matt was being satirical and certainly there was never any issue between the show and Fox News. We regret any confusion.'" This is the sort of fact-checking that is typical of 'liberal viewer'.
@johnnydollar01 wrote: "this video is based on a false story, one debunked by the Washington Post years ago"
If you check more carefully, you'll see my clip of Groening is from 2007, years AFTER the corporate denial printed in the Washington Post you claim debunks Groening's information that he's never retracted. The corporate PR people whose statement you take as fact never even attempted to contradict this 2007 statement.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@LiberalViewer Oh, so Groenig's joke of years before somehow became true because Groenig re-told it four years later, with the same language that was revealed to be a joke earlier? Funny, the joke explanation never made it into your video. I guess you didn't have room. Oh, and perhaps you should check to see if it's true that the Simpsons was never allowed to use the news crawl again. Because if it's not true, then that just might mean: joke!
Again, not only does the 2003 Post story never use the word "joke" (just like Goodwin Liu never used the word "reparations"), but none of the quotes in the Post contradicted any of the specifics of what Groening said. Groening continued telling people what happened for years (e.g. my clip from 2007) and the PR people at Fox have given up issuing the non-denial denials.
@johnnydollar01 "Oh, so Groenig's joke of years before somehow became true because Groenig re-told it four years later, with the same language that was revealed to be a joke earlier?" So basically when you thought you had proof you defended your political party, then your proof is made out to be false and instead of taking the morally right path of making an apology you attack him?
I live in Australia so I'm not biased but that is just wrong.
@johnnydollar01 Why would you believe anything a public relations rep had to say? There's a reason they don't just give you a straight answer in normal human english: because they're lying and want to obscure the truth and dull your will to fight back through their robotic demeanor.
@beta447 Well, let's put it this way. We have the Washington Post reporting it as news, so they obviously gave it credibility. So which should I take to be true: an official statement from the program's producers reported by the Washington Post...or a joke told on a comedy show? Not exactly a tough call.
@johnnydollar01 wrote: "which should I take to be true: an official statement from the program's producers reported by the Washington Post...or a joke told on a comedy show?"
Again, your framing here leaves out that Matt Groening is the creator of the show who has given the same information for years not just to a comedy show, but to NPR as well. The 2003 corporate PR statement from Fox you mistakenly cited does not refute this 2007 clip.
In actuality. Fox news did a cease and desist for internal defamation issues and because the simpsons were on the FOX networkand paying the bills. Not that viewers would mistake it for the fox news channel. Groening embellished the story. Typical liberal propaganda. Making people laugh makes insecure people feel accepted that all. Psycology 101
Ridiculous. Thats the problem with the politically liberal minded. They think they are so much smarter than everyone-but have to resort to low brow sarcasm because they can't compete on the issues
. Is MSNBC is supposed to be taken seriously? Cmon. They are 10x worse than fox news on bias. It is almost comical how overboard they go. I think they the producer giggles in the control room half the time. The funny thing is all the liberal group thinkers DO believe it.
Excellent. Fox News viewers are Racists. Racists are ignorant with narrow educations. They use support media like Fox to give some bent and subliminal value to their hatred.
Well, If your gonna stand up for something....... Nevermind the fed`s threat to blockade all flights in & out of Texas due to the TSA overstepping their boundry.
If they think their own viewers are that stupid, then I was wrong, people that believe FOX news are actualy dumber than I thought!
Also, it might not be afraid that their viewers are that stupid, but more that they are smart enough to realise that what is shown in the parody is quite a good resemblence of what FOX actualy does and are afraid people start to use their brain.
I think the study you were talking about is the same study I read, which was anyone who gets there news from a comedic source or a political pundit is more politically aware than someone who watches ANY major network news. Not just Fox.
Wait so the 92% of democrats are not gay? Im confused

it's amazing, cause there used to be an assload of Fox News paraodies by Fox shows.
So... based on this thing that Matt Groening said, everyone now believes that Fox parodies are banned from Fox and that Fox believes it's viewers would mistake a cartoon for real news?

I never trust anyone on Fox!

I hate the argument that republicans use to justify their reason to be a republican. The """I love my country"" argument.
Well, if they loved their country so much, why do they wish do ruin it?
gulbirk 7 months ago
@gulbirk Yes, because massive federal government = America and if you want to dismantle one you want to dismantle the other. Right?
bluemeriadoc 7 months ago
@bluemeriadoc Well not exactly. All parties in europe that are right winged do the same thing. They pretend to be the party that "made this country" and represents its spirit and soul. My point is that that argument is plain out emotional and also wrong.
gulbirk 7 months ago
@gulbirk I'm saying that wanting limited government and personal responsibility isn't wanting to "ruin" the country. (I'm assuming that by Republican you really mean conservative.) btw I'm not a Republican but I am a conservative.

Everett345 8 months ago

Because freedom of speech is the American way. Why do YOU hate America? Just because you have the right to censor or pressure someone to self censor that it's the right thing to do. Unfortunately this video is based on a false story, one debunked by the Washington Post years ago. "'The Simpsons' (the show, not the characters) issued an apology yesterday: 'Matt was being satirical and certainly there was never any issue between the show and Fox News. We regret any confusion.'" This is the sort of fact-checking that is typical of 'liberal viewer'.
johnnydollar01 8 months ago
@johnnydollar01 wrote: "this video is based on a false story, one debunked by the Washington Post years ago"
If you check more carefully, you'll see my clip of Groening is from 2007, years AFTER the corporate denial printed in the Washington Post you claim debunks Groening's information that he's never retracted. The corporate PR people whose statement you take as fact never even attempted to contradict this 2007 statement.
I hope that clears up your misunderstanding and

@LiberalViewer Oh, so Groenig's joke of years before somehow became true because Groenig re-told it four years later, with the same language that was revealed to be a joke earlier? Funny, the joke explanation never made it into your video. I guess you didn't have room. Oh, and perhaps you should check to see if it's true that the Simpsons was never allowed to use the news crawl again. Because if it's not true, then that just might mean: joke!
johnnydollar01 8 months ago
@johnnydollar01 wrote: "that was revealed to be a joke"
Again, not only does the 2003 Post story never use the word "joke" (just like Goodwin Liu never used the word "reparations"), but none of the quotes in the Post contradicted any of the specifics of what Groening said. Groening continued telling people what happened for years (e.g. my clip from 2007) and the PR people at Fox have given up issuing the non-denial denials.
I hope that clears up your misunderstanding and
Thx 4 commenting :-)

@johnnydollar01 "Oh, so Groenig's joke of years before somehow became true because Groenig re-told it four years later, with the same language that was revealed to be a joke earlier?" So basically when you thought you had proof you defended your political party, then your proof is made out to be false and instead of taking the morally right path of making an apology you attack him?
I live in Australia so I'm not biased but that is just wrong.
Please learn Life.
chessonmyshirt 8 months ago
@johnnydollar01 Why would you believe anything a public relations rep had to say? There's a reason they don't just give you a straight answer in normal human english: because they're lying and want to obscure the truth and dull your will to fight back through their robotic demeanor.
beta447 6 months ago
@beta447 Well, let's put it this way. We have the Washington Post reporting it as news, so they obviously gave it credibility. So which should I take to be true: an official statement from the program's producers reported by the Washington Post...or a joke told on a comedy show? Not exactly a tough call.
johnnydollar01 6 months ago
@johnnydollar01 wrote: "which should I take to be true: an official statement from the program's producers reported by the Washington Post...or a joke told on a comedy show?"
Again, your framing here leaves out that Matt Groening is the creator of the show who has given the same information for years not just to a comedy show, but to NPR as well. The 2003 corporate PR statement from Fox you mistakenly cited does not refute this 2007 clip.
Are you unable to admit mistakes?

Also, it might not be afraid that their viewers are that stupid, but more that they are smart enough to realise that what is shown in the parody is quite a good resemblence of what FOX actualy does and are afraid people start to use their brain.
