  • alot of people slept on this dude right here.this whole record is dope

  • This Cat JJ! One of The greatest songwriters I know!! 4 shoo!!!

  • I just can't get enuff of this song. One of my all time favs!!!

  • One of the best slow funk/rock songs ever!

  • Jesse is like the Minneapolis Sound's best kept secret lol

  • I was in a group home when i first heard this song???

Jesse johnson was indeed the shittt???

  • oooohhhhhh what a time!!!!!! LOVED IT ,,,BRING THE 80s BACK!!!!!

  • DONT HE LOOK LIKE HE AND ALEXANDER O'NEAL COULD BE BROTHERS IN THIS VIDEO JOINT? NAW REALLY DONT HE LOOK LIKE ALEX WITH BIG HAIR?

  • It's a great song and I enjoyed now as much as I did at the time. However, please don't bellyache about how the DJs aren't playing the music you like. DJ's haven't decided what gets played on the air in decades. You have program directors and music directors who decide the direction of the station. In this day and age, the station is likely owned by a large company. The decision on what gets added is often made at the regional level.

  • Oh yes. This was the song!

  • mellomoodz370......dog, YOU don't even believe what u just commented on...i mean, jesse johnson is OK....but PLEASE....man, u better never in your right mind compare these two again...now, go take your medication...jesse johnson vs prince...HA.HA.HA. you DEFINITLY smokin' your own shit...

  • Can't we just roll the clock back? How about alittle? :)

  • @str8outtatexas1 Yes Sirrr! This takes me back also...I can actually remember being in love and listening to jams such as these. Jesse breaks it down in this song...That's deep...Jesse wants his girl back and I want my 80's back!!!! Love it!!!!

  • @uhuhbabyuhuh Join the club! The 80's were great! There was just an electric vibe back then!!!! The music had Life,Love,Heart and Soul ! I would listen to great music like this, check out Miami Vice on tv and go hang out with friends! Great times!

  • @vanitysadeparis LOL likley not roasrio she was iam guessing only about 7 years old or evne less when this came out

  • wow didnt think id ever see this vid again i think early 1987 right?.... miss them days thats when music was damn good cant say the last time i evne purchased music since maybe early 90's,, aint nothing worth out there buying, thanks for psoting this!

  • Man this takes me back to when I wasn't even born but I dig all this music now

  • One of my favorites off of this album to which the whole album is great, but this song got to me.

  • prince wannabe.........

  • @smush48 he's from the time so of course you can see the prince resemblence

  • @smush48 Prince wannabe...? PRINCE WANNABE JESSE!!! Prince is totally overrated as a musician and songwriter. He's way beyond his glory days. Jesse Johnson is still funking it up . Check out his most recent release Verbal Penetration . It may not have gotten much publicity as it should have as well as all his other albums, but bitchassness runs rampant in the music industry now and then. Just because Prince was in the spotlight doesn't mean he didn't steal some swag from JESSE JOHNSON!!!!

  • @mellomoodz70 He does look an awful lot like Prince... I wouldn't say Prince is overrated at all. I do however think his capabilities are far greater than he pushes them. and If you think he's overrated then look at "artists" (if you can even call them that) nowadays. How many of them write their own songs, play multiple instruments, spend hours slaving away in a recording studio recording every instrument themselves? and actually sound good live! Not many I'm afraid.

  • @mellomoodz70 Yeah !!!! lol Thank you , I agree with you .The only reason Jesse's album didnt get much publicity is because he is with an independant record label . Wich means not much overhead . I hear he sold more than a thousand albums and most of that cash comes to him . He is still doing greatw !!!!

  • @ayabtiyah2004 Hey that'z good 2 know. I think it'z so much betta 2 B independent anyway tha major labelz hav been raping artist financially 4 yearz it'z time 4 a nu age revolution. Time 4 artist 2 stop lettin untalented record execz sign them 2 thoze foolish 360 contractz and claim whatz rightfully theirz. Musicianz gotta unite and fight 4 whatz right day N night alright !!!.... Shalom =)

  • I really love Jesse but not gonna lie, I thought it was a woman when they first showed him sitting on the bed

  • Funky!!!

  • Sold everything for crack sitting in my car that didnt run wishing I had My Girl.......

  • This takes me back to backyard BBQs

  • I remember this.... when I was little, I thought it was Prince.

  • i want back kimberly, hannah, wendy, tracey, gwen, akiyla, stephanie, micia, yasmine, sariyda, gwen, lisa, belinda, nichita, even lorraine and the ones i didnt get pregnant

  • @rightknowledgeman Life is funny like that huh

  • Lotsa memories

  • This was at the period were Morris Day and The Time, Prince and them Minneapolis cats were hot. He took their dress, style and swag and ran with it. I felt i wasn't cool enough to run with this cat. He was very dark and not all that good looking. But, he was so cool, you justed loved to hang with him. Till this day, I never met a cat so confidant, cool, mad swag and authentic as him. When i was learning to stop being shy and holla at the Ladies, he taught me how. Rip T. Jones.

  • Went to high school with this cat name Fabian ( black dude). He couldn't get no chicks. Shit, he got a perm in his hair like Jesse's. Got a suit from the thrift store like Morris day and The Time. Got a pair of Stacy Adams shoes from his brother and became the flyest motherfucker ever seen! The ladies lost there mind for him. Keep in mind this was in 1982. He had chicks our age, older chicks, black, white , shit he had them. Later when i came back for the Army, he had a Aurism and Died. Rip Bro!

  • TALENT, TALENT, TALENT! That is all I can say......can't get this anywhere today!

  • I used to be in love with Jesse Johnson. This song bring back so many fun memories.

  • @hostesscupcakes2001 me too. lol member when he was so hot???

those were the days-in my edith bunker voice.

this was my favorite song by him.

  • I didn't care if she had her fun, making love 2 someone else, as long as i was #1.

  • Prince was obsessed wit the color purple and I guess jesse johnson loved pink....um no complaints there.

  • played the hell out of this tape

  • played the hell out of this tape

  • @LuvzHugz omg you are not lying ! we use to jam him in Africa back in 1985 ...I knew he was fine then and still fine now ! Have you heard his new album " Verbal Penetration" ? it was released Oct 27 of last year. The man is a master guitarist. He improved his vocal skills and out did himself on this album !

  • Beautiful Black man. Wow, forgot how fine he was.

  • those minneapolis muthaphuckas could jam some fast shit but they could also slow it down like this one, time's gigalo get lonely,o'neal's if u were hear 2nite.dem boys made great music back in da day

  • GET A HAIRCUT HIPPIE!! OMG! HIS HAIR IS LONGER THAN HERS!!! Seriously...I like the jam...I was there...back in the day. Long live the Purple Summer and may you live to see The Dawn....MM

  • One of my favorite songs from back in the day when I was in junior high good times!

  • prince and all hjs friend they were pure funky man i mean their swagger

  • this was the jam ...reminds me of 1985..great friends innocent love being 19 best times of my life.

  • this video is some of the best music on this earth

  • where i can find song 4 download...i have been serching everywhere =(

  • @hakunabuzuna I found this song on itunes.

  • somebody had a live version of this on myspace that was great!

  • I wore my hair like that in high school- the 80's was the bomb!

  • I Wish I Had The Guts To Send This To My Ex Wife, It Says Everything That I Wish I Could Say.

  • This sounds like somethin Prince 4got 2 do and still Jesse at the same time.

  • This was just a well shot video. It was a cool cut and still a jam. To bad they don't have many good r&b musicians. Stressing musicianship over computers and digital tricks.

  • why in the 80's looking gay ment you would get all the pussy. whats with these females? oh, i want my gyul

  • It is good stuff for certain.

  • This ain't "Hot Buttered Soul," but Jesse's always been tight!

  • THIS IS THE CUT

  • Thanks to my younger aunt, I have damn near every R&B song from the 80's. Was listening to one of my many CDs last night and heard this. Don't have the problems that the brother relates to in the song, but this shit is deep. Great song!

  • Ya know girl, ya NEVER NEVER had 2 go!

  • This song was the sh*t! I had Jesse's album on cassette and who knows what happened to it. I want back my tape! (not that I have anything to play it on) Good memories, thanks for posting.

  • Minneapolis!!!! Thank you for Prince, Morris Day & the Time, Jesse Johnson and Tamara & the Seen!!!!!

  • @simplimrvls This is good music, where did the time go, and I guess the good music went with it..

  • @LOCKETTish

yes i wish we could have this kind of music on the radio now!

  • This song is my one of fav from back in day . The songs back in day told you a story with true feelings . I miss that in the music today .

  • Comment removed

  • I agree with you str8outtatexas1!! Music now-a-days is awful! Nothing like the 80's that's 4 sure =)

  • This is a classic. Thanks for putting it up here.

  • jesse was 2 damn cool

  • man this takes me back to my high school days back in the 80's.people this is whar real R&b is suppose to sound like. i'm so sick of the bullshit they try to shove down our throats today.i don't listen to much of this new garbage at all.i keep my ipod with me 24-7.i hook it up in the ride and it's all 70's 80's early 90's.man these video's and music bring back good memories of how life should be.having fun and dancing your ass off. where did it all go wrong? all thugged out now, just pathetic .

  • Music has become a trick to brainwash and subdued peoples way of thinking (clever trickin deed) when that happens the music is second place, RnB today usually involves the word b-ch or hoe, slap me up-i think those artists of yesteryear would die of shock if the stars of today hooked up for a duet, the future is gangster criminals singing about crime and about how many times they dodge bullets (OH hang on, were there already) what next, singing about how many times you've killed. OH HANG ON

  • I couldn't agree more man. This was true R&B. There so much of it back then. I remember Prince, RFTW, SOS Band, Sheila E, The Time, The GAP Band, and the list goes on. It was all about dancing, meeting girls, style, and good times. There is no R&B anymore, it's all pop and garbage.

  • @str8outtatexas1 I'm right with you.......you took the words right out of my mouth.

  • @str8outtatexas1 Couldn't have said it better myself man. Man, that music back then. I remember The Time, Ready For The World, The S.O.S. Band, and all the other R&B powerhouses that shaped a generation. I bump jams like this all the time.

  • @str8outtatexas1 I share the same sediment as you about this new sound they try to pass for "music" on the radio today. I dismays me greatly that groups like Jessie Johnson's Review, The Time, Ready For the World, and other R&B and Soul greats from long ago have been all but forgotten by the DJs of today. There was a timelessness about the music from that era that always seems to conjure up very accurate memories of those days whenever one listens to a great song such as this.

  • @5kylord- Right on brah, you're definitely right. We were just lucky to have been brought up in the greatest era of music ever. one love.

  • @5kylord Well there no longer called "The Time" thanks to that bitch ass prince. He has a copyright on the name and refuses to let them use it. Well the boys are back all 7 of them. There now going by the name "The Original 7ven" There album came out last week and it's nice. The single and video off the new album is called #Trendin. And yeah they still have it 30 years later...

  • @FireitupBedford -everybody know there the Time, screw the name!

  • i remember this takes me back in the day

  • Jesse, any given day...I can listen to this song and LOVE it the same way I did when I first heard it. Awesome song and video!!!!!! I love your music!

  • jesse you still got it I watched you at clipper you was it at the time in the old qaud shittys

  • Damn good collection! You should be proud.

  • He looks like Prince's little brother.

  • @SexyAzzHell93 LOL sure does!!!

  • this just takes me back to the summer of 1985! lol when peeps used to take their boom boxes to the mall! lol

  • I LOVE YOU JESSE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~xoxo

  • jesse has dreamy eye's

  • ayabtiyah2004: Girl keep it 80's forever. Real music, real

entertainers that knew how to entertain. Today's musicians

but a small few, are hood rats that are a disgrace to music.

  • I know....I'm a musician, a guitar player, I wanted to put a band together to go into the studio n record some songs i wrote....everyone keeps trying to convince me to go n lay the tracks first using the computer in the studio then get the musicians n teach them to play it.

To me thats putting the cart b4 the ass !

Jesse is the reason I had my daddy teach me to play the guitar back in 1984 lol, he made me want to be a real musician not a computer synthesized one !

  • Right on bro,.and this coming from a real guitar player to,..custom Yamaha w/Seymor Duncan dual humbuc's,.,nothing like the real thing,....NOTHING, computers are great,..but what if your woman prefered to make love to a robot instead of you,..Hmmm.

  • @Clarenzr Im a girl ( giggles ) but its cool....I just spent crazy money on a Minarik...Goddess....The Brazi Unicorn Edition......OMG!......cant waite to get back in the studio next week ! Do u play in a band ?

  • I kinda freelance around town you know how it goes " I plays ,what pays",but I've been mostly doing a lot of Gospel,.hey theres some decent change in the Gospel biz you know,..but I still got my P-Funk roots deep in the ground, and yes I'm still funkin on Baba!,why are you trying to form a retro 80's band or something??,I still remeber those guitar licks from back in the day,..tell me whats your groove....

  • @Clarenzr As for me and my opinion I would rather take a robot over theese young hip hop dudes any day.....The robots have more originality than they do. They sample the oldskool music, but wont sample the oldskool knowledge.

    i

  • God! I use to love the hell out of this song. So 80's and

beautiful with love. 80's girl forever. Jesse was always the cutie pie in the group.

  • @Ellasings7 u aint lying

  • If I am not mistaken Prince Directed this Video. I was wondering where it was shiot

  • @RossWorldFamous Thats wrong , thats cold

  • thought i was in love when this song was out....sike!!!..she fooled me!!!

  • i love this song. these R the words i couldn't say when i lost my girl. now she's my WIFE!!!!!!

  • sweet story bro' i hope i'm in for the same destiny,,,,:D

  • his chords on get it up is really come close to prince riffs no joke jesse masters the finger board

  • this was my cut! Classic!

  • This man can make a guitar scream for mercy...Hmmm!!!

And he is from the Prince camp.

  • @Chris9273

Yep, from The Revolution. He made this song right after they disbanded. I know that because I could have sworn this was a Prince song when I heard it on the radio, LOL

  • @VideoVixen24 He was never with the revolution. He was the guitar player for Morris Day and The Time . Prince and the Revolution's guitar player was female . Her name was lisa or windy . The Time disbanded after Purple Rain was made and that was in 1984. Jesse came out with this in 1985 long b4 The Revolution disbanded in 1989.

  • @ayabtiyah2004

    That's what I meant.

  • @ayabtiyah2004 The Revolution disbanded in late 1986. Sign O' The Times came out in 1987, by then Prince had a new line up which included Sheila E. on drums also Mico Weaver on guitar. Jerome Benton also was included.

  • @ayabtiyah2004 actually the revolution disbanded in late 86' around the time the parade tour ended and the Dream Factory sessions ended as well

  • I know this sound by heart! many nights crying listening to JJ

  • i used to rinse this track out ..never knew there was a video for it. Nice one !!

  • Jesse! I cought his show in 84 or so back in NYC at the Palladium... he rocked!

  • Oh yes! My jammmmm!!!!!

  • i only wish the guitar would have been turned up higher in the mix...great ballad

  • I'm still in love after all theese years !

  • Me and my girlfriend had just broken up a little while before I heard this song. Really felt that song! Great song.

  • You didnt not have anybody to jump on D#$k, that why. HAHAHA@

  • What the hell are you talking about?

  • It not Hard that why you felt the song , you just want her too jump on it, . ...You get it ... If you don't then, Nevermind.@@@

  • O.K. I feel ya,man!

  • I'll B U'r girl anytime Jesse.............I miss the 80's.................everything was original....the sound, the style of dress, everything.Music 2day is without substance and bland as hell.Thanxs 4 the memories.Great Upload.

  • Great sound. Unmistakable Minneapolis

  • minneapolis at its best

  • Not slammin Jesse, but during this, he had a bust with his gal"cutie pie' Jesse got sited for fireing his semi auto(papers said machine gun) lol and blasting the piss out of his pink flamingos in the front yard. Gotta love Minneapolis in the 80's.

  • @ witchman1. He sounds like my kind of guy . Guitars n Guns. Wow!

  • Can't believe this was the 80's. I can listen to the 80's anytime!

  • this was tha shit damn the 80s i miss them

  • Seems like yesterday when I was getting ready to go out an party with my friends on Friday and Saturday just listening to this being played on the radio, damn I miss those days. life was good and drama free.

  • indeed - and we wil never see those days again. makes me cry to think of it

  • me too ;*( those days were almost too good to be true like they were dreams

  • Love the song!!!! If he had 4 exxxxwives like me he would not want those crazy bitches back.

  • Everything about this is perfect!!!

  • love this song! i used to be in love with Jesse when i was a kid....soul glow and all!..lol

  • LOL

  • i was a punk when this song was out. I was in love with this girl who fell in love with another dude who looked like morris day, boy did that hurt, i look better than that soul bro

  • You are so wrong for that!! LOL!!! You are messing up my image of Jesse. LOL!!! I find it so funny how I used to have a huge crush on this guy and he wore more makeup than I did.

  • lol u trouble maker

  • This is when music was music.....Jesse was so hot!

  • My God that was the fucking shit! From an era was that had real talent. Great post!

  • Wow..this song brings back the memories in La Puente playing it while rehearsing for my cousin's quincenera..along w/Lisa Lisa, The Time

  • this is too crazy I forgot I knew this song and here I am singing along...yikes!

  • This boy was bad to the bone and surely proved it when he broke solo. I haven't heard this since the late 80s and am so grateful for the post. The Time could've been an R&B version of the beatles. So much talen, so much creativity. Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Jesse Johnson, Morris Day, JellyBean Johnson, Monte Moir and then throw Jerome in the mix. Smoking hot!!

  • Where is this guy

  • @ treatherright I hear in L.A. b4 then in New Orleans. He is on tour withThe Time right now n his new album drops in October of "09"

  • Anybody know where this video was shot?

  • this makes my knees go weak..lol

  • A timeless classic. Thanks for posting champ. Keep this music alive. Peace!

  • COOL, THANKS FOR THE MEMORY!

  • TOTAL OLD SCHOOL CLASSIC!!!!! Thanks for posting this. I haven't seen this video since 1987. Ah slow dancing with lovely latin women at Florenteen Gardens in West Hollywood to jams like this back in the late 80's. Good stuff.

  • Man I remember this song back in the day. I think I was like 7 or 8 years old. My older cousin (back then) LOVED this group and Ready for the World. When the videos would come on Video Soul she would scream SO LOUD it scarred me to death. lol lol

See how much shock trauma folks can go through. lol

    GREAT SONG THOUGH!!!!

  • yo..this my fave song off dat album..plus,jesse was the 1st to wear pink and make it hot for a guy..sorry,Cam'Ron!...

  • LOL....for real...I like peanut butter and jelly!

  • I went to school with a guy who looked just like him in this video...lol

  • he was a purty lookin lil bitch

  • lol

  • go to hell. Just bcuz u look like dog food.

  • THIS IS THE JAM!!! my broken heart made it quite able to say she was a devil in disguise

  • Daam they dont make music like they use to! and you aint lying bout her being a devil lol
