  • Ronnie van zant the gratest rock vocalist of all time!

  • big ed king!!!

  • Fucking timelessly awesome ! a few good ole boys that made beautiful music

  • i love lynyrd skynyrd

  • Oh Ronnie really into this one, best performer, frontman, singer, songwriter, whatever you want to call it . But he was and still is the Best at what he done. Nobody to knock him off the top yet. Still absolutely the best.

  • I can't believe I found this song. Help me find Curtis Lowe

  • @johnhrey52 just type in ballad of curtis rowe it should come up by LS if not type in lyn should pop right up

  • The band will never be as original....You people argue over nothing...just enjoy the music so what if his brother sings for the band...they could have gotten someone who could care less about the bands origins and do it for the money or fame..you think Johnny doesn't know people are comparing him to his brother? He'll sing anyhow... That's Brotherly love, and That's Kin Chill People!

  • @Apalachee207 We are not arguing its just people get them so mixed up, i was born in 53 im a RVZ fan to the max. And i hate it when people confuse the two seperate bands now you might like Johnny better thats fine, ive never heard him just out of respect for Ronnie. It sounds weird but you had to be from that era to understand, Ronnie was my our Rock God we couldnt wait to hear his next album songs to live by and we listened. Needle and spoon that smell always something that related to our lives

  • @chance501 He was the voice of Rock and Roll in the seventies. Ronnie that is

  • @chance501 I cut my rock and roll teeth on Skynyrd...I stand by what I said...and maybe out of respect for the remaining band members, who by the way, made RVZ shine, people should support them as well....the QB can throw the ball all day long but if nobody catches and runs it, he's nothing....God Bless!

  • I recall one time Ronnie commented he was impressed with Paul Rodgers' singing ability. Sounds like a bit of influence from Paul in one verse on this song. Also commented on his own ability as if he were comparing himself to Paul. Wondering if he stacks up. I say that is crazy , wondering that ! It's easy to see he enjoyed singing and that made him fun to watch. I've tried singing his songs during long road trips and only succeed in blowing my own voice out. Happy Birthday Ronnie, 1/15/2012

  • best band ever

  • best southern rock ever

  • ya mon

  • i love lynyrd skynyrd

  • My God!!! What a performance! Ronnie is GOD!!!!!

  • We were there that night, standing, front row. Remember it like it was yesterday. Stage perimeter was lined with geetars. Thank for posting!

  • One of my all time favorite LS songs!!

  • Comment removed

  • fucking awesome

  • RONNIE VAN ZANT-he gave the word "badass" its meaning !!

  • Best Live Band ever . Nobody can touch em. They havent in the last 34yrs anyway. Original SKYNYRD with RVZ untouchable.

  • Slash I hope you're learning something watching this.

  • there is no other band tighter then them, listen to how freakin good they

    are live dam

  • i live in New Hampshire and they have always been popular up here...rvz could write great songs asleep

  • da greatest vocalist and storyteller of song period and da greatest band to ever hit and perform on a stage!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bad case of white boy got the wooh wooh's

  • Of course. I think most agree with you. I honestly can't believe its even a debate that the post crash Skynyrd is anything but a tribute band.

  • we are very lucky they still travel and tour very lucky no matter who plays the instruments or sings

    . tim

  • they make rock n roll look so easy to do !!!!

  • This song and I Need You are my two favorites.

  • That's some Raw, Bad Ass shit right there!

  • First time I saw LS was at this very show, right up front....

  • I don't give a shit what nobody else says- Lynyrd Skynyrd died w/ Ronnie Van Zant in 1977! I've seen the later incarnations of LS, and while decent, they're like a LS tribute band, but this band in this clip is the REAL goddamn deal! People wanna pigeonhole Ronnie, "redneck rocker," "southern rocker," but he was all that and more: "hippie outlaw," "ant-redneck,"- the man was beyond labels!

  • @donedave tell it, brother!!!!!

  • @donedave : You got that right.

  • @donedave I'm with ya on this! I take solace in the fact that i got to see THIS band.

  • @donedave hell ya he did lynyrd skynyrd is ronnie not johnny johnny sucks he can try but that's all he can do!!! he is the brother of ronnie [not ronnie] sorry johnny keep dreamin!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for the original clip. This was such a great band back in the day. I remember when Street Survivors came out and my friend got it on Reel to Reel and I just got bought the new album. This was one of their best albums. Their music was still great like the old stuff. I was really bummed when I heard about the plane crash and was upset for a long time. This was THE music of the times we partied too. To this day I have not listened to any of post RVZ music. I can't do it. Ronnie was the best.

  • @Nickolas64 Im with you man just out of respect for RVZ i havent listened to any of new skynyrd. Might not be right just how it is. Ronnie was LS.

  • With out Ronnie Van Zant...There is no Lynyrd Skynyrd...

  • wow!!! this is fucking bad ass man!!! RAW ass fuck !!!

  • want to be skynard

  • GOD BLESS LYNYRD SKYNYRD ---RONNIE, ALLEN, BILLY, ARTEMUS, and LEON & ALL THE BOYS!!!! I'LL LOVE YOU (along with all TRUE Southerners) TIL THE DAY I FUCKING DIE!!!!!THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER!!!!!

  • sounds like he is singing for cock ! is he a fag ?

  • OH------YOU FUCKED UP!!!!!!!!!

  • WHAT'S YOUR FUCKING PROBLEM MAN!!!!!???????

  • @forestroot No....sorry......wrong room pal!!!!

  • this isn't the hunt from freebird the movie !

  • The intensity that Ronnie shows thu out is song is incredible. Towards the end of the song you can tell that he is so into it with a solid grip on his mic and stand. Atrimus has said many times that Ronnie had an incredible stage presence. It is obvious here as he delivers "On The Hunt" with rock solid emotion. This clip really does show just how passionate Ronnie was about his music! Rest in Peace Ronnie..your legacy will endure forever...

  • This might be the greatest cockhound song ever.

  • Ronny, your bro is doing an excellent job, so you just rest in peace and remember we all love you so much!

  • @rphwife Johnny does do a good job, probably better than anyone else could. But he will always be a fill-in, in my opinion. He will NEVER, EVER fill Ronnie's shoes. Or rather, Ronnie's NO shoes, heh, heh.

Same with Rickey Medlocke. Great guitarist, plays the parts to the letter, but no one can replace Allen Collins.

Skynyrd '76-77, probably the best band ever.

  • @thatJCguy Don't think Ronnie wants to fill his shoes,, just represent and continue the legend...my opinion..

  • @haredhead2 Don't you mean Johnny?? ;-) I feel ya man, as I said, if ANYONE has the right to pick up RVZ's mic, it's his little brother. But still, it'll never, ever be what it was.

  • @haredhead2 exactly. i guarantee all the dead members are looking down on the current band and smiling, because they're carrying the music on and keeping it alive.

  • but my question was ronnie wearin shoes?

  • @MrMikeboy41 No shoes on stage for RVZ

  • so cool . .. .

"black and white" and pure "rock and roll"

I bought a video tape copy of this show at a Guitar Show several years ago. . .

I wish it would get an official release

  • Ronnie sang with such conviction, heart and bearfooted. I sense, He could feel it in his Soul. Wow Awsone performance.

  • Oh MAn!!! I have been a Skynyrd fan since '73.... But this is the first time I have ever seen or heard this version! Thank you thank you thnk you!!! LOVE IT!!

  • Damn I love this song haha

  • WOW....that's all i can , WOW.....twice

  • VERY MUCH LOVED REST IN PEACE .......TY FOR SHARING ALL THE GREAT MUSIC ...

  • Finally....An upload of this awesomeness where the tape hasn't been pinched, and the sound quality is very good, considering the date. THANK YOU!

  • finally! i found it live! Thank you youtube's suggestions, you made my day

  • Lynyrd Skynyrd is the bomb these guys rock wish Ronnie Van Zant was still here Johnny does a good job but nothing like his older bro R.I.P Ronnie

  • love always

  • They left us way to soon...We have the music and the memories but we sure do miss what could have been...3 or 4 more records and we would be talking about one of the greatest bands of all time.

So sad...but let's enjoy this song!

  • It doesn't get any better than this, folks

  • an absolute treasure of one of the "badest" bands of all time......the boys from Jax knew what they were doing!

  • O.M.G. WHERE DID THIS PRICELESS TIME CAPSUL COME FROM?

  • wow, 1st timee ive seen ronnie performing without his trademark hat

  • they should have put songs from this concert on Free bird the movie too!

  • Lynyard's so coool...he definitely has that Hendrix vibe! Full of Feel!!!

  • I remember when I first heard this cut, I was awestruck! So dark, so hardcore!

  • damn , ronnie was better live than in the studio . and he was good in the studio. AWESOME!!!!!!!

  • @1jackiepuppet Yes, I agree! RVZ is in really good voice for this one!

  • CLASSIC ROCK AT ITS BEST,AND I HAVE JUST PUT A COVER OF THIS SONG ON YOUTUBE, SEE WHAT YOU THINK OF IT, I WOULD REALLY APPREICATE IT, JUST GO ON MY CHANNEL AND IT WILL ON THE HOMEPAGE, ROCK ON SKYNYRD!!!

  • ed king is garbage!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @budmancb How the hell can you say that? They were all great and he was a f-ing tremendous picker.

  • RIP Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gains, Cassie Gains. if young skynyrd never passed away they'd be their own genre

  • I'm not southern but I've been a follower since I was 17 and now I'm almost 56.Raised my kids on their music and now my grandson listens with me.

  • @KumarsDad ;)

  • As most southern kids who were raised on Skynyrd before the "just say no" movement, finding this on here truly moves my soul. RVZ's vocals will always resonate through all who heard him, and got it. GR's axe licks make you feel it all. Thanks for putting this up, RIP my Rebel Brothers, may God hold you eternally

  • RVZ had soul to burn!

  • One of my favorite Skynyrd songs! Love Gary's tone and Ronnie really made singin' look cool. Great video, thanks for posting!

  • One of my favorite skynyrd binges

  • seldomly do the loss of famous people effect me - the loss of Ronnie did , along with stevie ray --------- thanks for sharing this clip

  • interesting alternate chord progression on the chorus

  • regrettably we don't get to see much recorded add - lib and candid talk from Ronnie but at the start of this clip I was struck by his humble grace. All artists thank the crowd but you can see by Ronnie's face that after 1000's of concerts he was so sincere and thankful.

  • At least the audio on this one is respectful. Thank you!!

  • anyone who says Gary can't play is a freaking idiot.

  • @TheLegalbeagle1111 Damn straight, its his tone,

like billy gibbons he fills ALL the holes, they are rare that can do that

  • These guys just wrote great song after great song.

  • 'new song' hah....this is gold,mama.

  • Classic!!!

  • Was also at this show, thanks for posting. Ronnie loved San Fransisco and mentioned it was his home away from home at every concert they did in The City. I know, as i was at every one of there shows in the Bay Area before the tragedy....

This is from the actual live feed shown in the Winterland, smuggled out of BGP years ago. Have one of the original copys.

  • this is by far the clearest, brightest video ive ever seen of this show.... outstanding..one of my favorite skynyrd songs.... does anyone have this whole show on video and if so would they sell a copy ... id pay whatever for it.... thanks

  • @downpaymentblues311 Actually there is a dvd of this concert available. Do a search on Google and you will find it........

  • Such nice guitar parts in this. Ronnie's voice sounds good...the ultimate Skynyrd "deep" track.

  • That is Ed playing his strat. Amazing quality on the video, thanks for sharing!
