Should you just drill these techniques in order to be come a better spinner? I mean he obviously has perfect technique, and I won't! I can't find very many videos covering the basics into advanced techniques like these.
@carbonguy9-- Well thats true but the part is that many of these guys and ladies have taken ballet in their lives at least once....only for balance purposes....idk much about this guy honestly but i know that some of the dancers u may see have....so maybe u should ballet bro lol
if you wanna learn how to spin take a santo rico workshop the second you get the chance or if your in newyork take their classes or if not then sign up for baila society online and they have online classes with santo rico to
This guy is good. Technique so precise. I find it cool he seperates the spins, instead of spinning 15 turns in shot. We can actually see what he's doing. Great job.
I think he does an excellent job of showing exercises that anyone could do at home to become a better spinner. I also like the hand styling because it makes the spins flow better in a performance or social dancing setting.
Yea, the guy looks like a girl when he spins but you can't argue his flawless technique. Man if I could spin like that I would be wrapped. Altho I would defintely loose the hand thing and the pirouettes
why does he use his fingers like that. to look like lady? to seem as doing special things or maybe he is not aware of how he looks like. too much preparation for a half turn...
I agree, with thug, after all salsa is an amalgam of different dance styles such as rumba, or contradanse, why can't fragments of other styles be incorporated as well.
Yep! I agree La china cynthia! especially the street dance stuff. you can shake and bake and jerk and twerk but flwowing to the music is a whole new can of worms..whats wrong with ballet in your moves
Ballet is technique, and it's the base form of all dance if you want to have control of your body and steps. Anybody can copy street style to a certain extend, but proper technique is crucial for advancement. I love this guy who has body movements and control, yet dance like with such precison. Awesome!
yes i agree that ballet is technique and it is impt for bodily control- but i dun however agree that it is the base form of ALL dance forms! its focus on the core (stomach), inner thigh, in short, pulling up is impt to hold one's balance. its spotting is essential to enable a dancer to turn mutiple run. all this of course can be seen in its pirouette turns, attitude turns etc. but wat about bodily isolation?
ballet totally disregard isolation of the torso. its precise placements of the body doesnt allow room for say left chest isolation and right chest isolation or even hip isolation (think reggae/dancehall or extreme situation belly dance). its fingers does nothing close to those in eastern dance (think asian dance eg thai). Ballet is irrelevant in these context thus to say that is the base form of all dance is definitely erroneous!
Where ballet does help in CERTAIN dance aspects, u cannot generalize and say dat its impt in ALL dance forms. U have to respect a genre for what it is and not make superior ballet. Michael Jackson is a hell of a great dancer.. but did he ever take ballet? Think abt it. just my 2 cents worth..
and back to salsa, yes ballet is definitely relevant that i agree. those wif ballet background definitely have the upperhand. as for this guy in the video... awesome skills!
p/s pls dun go around saying ballet is the base form of all dance forms again if u dun wanna spark off another episode of verbal diarrhoea =P
Awesome.....thanks for sharing....

well have it your way. I just thought the ballet "attitude" in that spin made it look quite un-salsa. Not to take away from his awesome technique.
