95% Percent Of Teens Would Have A Breakdown If Miley Cyrus Was Standing On The Edge Of A Tower Ready To Jump, Copy And Paste If You're The 5% sitting with a bag of popcorn and Yelling "JUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am related to this guy. He's a complete dickhead. He's one of the phoniest people I've ever known. He is abusive to women, a user, and extremely childish and self-centered. Those of you who like his lyrics are probably well informed, intelligent people. But do you really need to hear it from his whiney, obnoxious voice?
I find comments like this to be troubling. I have known David for about five years now and have known him to be one of the most sincere people I have ever met. He is a dedicated activist and father. I have enjoyed not only his music, but listening to his take on the world.
good for u if u've known him for ur entire life. but why not express ur "admiration" to him directly , not to jump from video to video with the same pointless comment.
lmao. Introduce it to him via email or myspace or somthing, even if he doesnt do it I am sure it will be prodominant in his thoughts in some way or another.
@LibSoc68 .... Restoring the natural Commons might not be a particularly "left movement".
It was strongly advanced by Cromwell. And it was strongly favored by the Puritan Founders of New England.
Not to the exclusion of private property and a reasonably free economy. But those profoundly Conservative, 'Religious Right' folks believed that it was important for a healthy society to hold some considerable land in common for everyone's use if they needed it. Not everything subject to 'outbidding'.
Cromwell was a revolutionary in his day - the English Capitalist Revolution.
What is "progressive" and "conservative" is relative to the age. There was a time when capitalism, feudalism and even slavery were relatively progressive.
all I see is a bunch of sectarianism and factionalism with no unity, dialogue, or debate - let alone mass rallies or movement building. we're all focused on theory & puritanism and not on actually changing anything. I'm with you comrade but there is no radical left movement to join at this point...
the best we can organize for at the moment is sparking class consciousness so workers begin to unionize again. that's not even radical, but it's a start.
|'d say Rovics is the best genuine protest folk singer since bob dylan or even pete seeger

Is there ever was a musician to whom Tom Lehrer's son "The Folk Resistance Army" applied 100%, it's David Rovics.
Powerful lyrics, not much else.

This great song is not in The David Rovics Songbook. I figured out some chords (correct I think) and thought someone else might be interested:
Capo 4th fret
Verse: C/ FCG/ C/ FCG/ FCG/ FCG/ C/ FCG
Chorus: CG/ Am FG/ FCG/ C F(G)C

Well duh he's a performing musician. It's hard to put yourself out there unless you are a bit narcissistic. Or a lot. And his lyrics are GREAT.

It's true, a huge WalMart has just opened on Vancouver Island, in a mall called The Commons.
We need to bring Rovics here to sing about it!

Here's how to stop them; stop buying crap. Shop locally grown food, avoid big box stores like the plague.
