Okay, so maaaayybe John Anderson is dressed as a blanket, but holy shit can he sing. I love these guys. I would've seen them at Jones Beach, but Anderson and I think Squire wouldn't be there due to health conditions. It wouldn't have been the same without them. Bless'em.
An absolute musical masterpiece. Moving, exciting, lyrical, complex, and technically brilliant, with weight and depth! Not so much a "song" as a musical composition. I think Close to the Edge and Gates of Delirium are Yes's 2 masterworks, absolutely the pinnacle of progressive rock. And this is the best version of Close to the Edge with maestro Wakeman himself on the keyboards.
One of the GREATEST concerts ever 1973...Fab forum....w/Poco.......Rock & Roll Hall of Shame is so clueless, has there ever been a band like this!? Too brilliantly creative I guess...Give me a break Hall morons..... Abba........Jimmy Cliff ,E even Genesis should have to wait! If u can create songs like Your Move, that can move the heart & soul...that's the requirement u need!
This was from Close to the Edge tour in 1973. The begining of the "Classic" Yes sound. My older brother and sister saw them at the Spectrum in Philly on that tour. I was only in third grade and didn't get to see them until '77 "Going for the One" tour.
My favorites along with Genesis,Rush, and Led Zeppelin.
The first time I heard this album Close to the Edge, was in 1973 because here in my country releases from Europe came here with a delay of a year. We heard this song countless times for years. It´s a divine simphony , the best of Yes ! Fantastic English group.
I have searched the Tube upside down. This is it!!! This is the authentic version I remember from my younger days; note for note, beat for beat.!!! Thanks so much for posting. This is not ordinary music. This is the product of the amalgamation of genius. The version on the digitally remastered album has been irritatingly doctored at various nerve points and is not in the original format. This posting shows what Yes unlike any other band could do. ie. reproduce a Studio sound in a live concert.
This live was recorded on december 1972 at the Rainbow theatre, London, during their Close to the Edge tour. Absolutely unique the solo performance of Rick Wakeman between Close and Roundabout.
the keyboards solo = PURE ORGASM
The best ever !!!!!!!!!!!

hard to believe that they earned more income from 90125 than all the other previous albums combined

I know that the lyrics and concept is loosely based on the Hermann Hesse novel Siddhartha.
