@neko2808 lol, dude. I've had these done to me before. The reason the guy is flipping around in the air is because if he doesn't, his wrist, elbow, and shoulder will pop and/or come out of socket. If you think it's fake, go to a Hapkido school near you and grab one of those guys and see what happens
i have been a student in wing chun for twenty years , black sash ,2nd grade i have never heard such rubbish spoken by so many on one page , who know""NOTHING"" so why do they waste there time making comments , , PLEASE" comment on your known -subject, and have a point, ""
@jumokdragon it would do well against an MMA fighter IF there were no rules, however in the Octagon there are no small joint manipulations allowed for safety reasons.
0:47 is a great display of the knowledge of body mechanics..mind you a lot of Hapkido is corriographed. Not to say the techniques are effective. More or less..if you're taking this style, you're in it for the body mechanics.
cant anybody else see this is corriographed?... seriously, who flips with a twist of a wrist when u have ur back to them?.... i only noticed cause the "victim" kept on twitching their legs and arms.... i admit some techniques are helpfull but if u do the things they just showed....ull get ur ass kicked
Assasin4179 how is ju jitsu lame and retarded. its one of the best martial arts there is. any gd fighting in mma or anything has to get gd in ju jitsu beause judo not gd enother ya u mite throw them and mount them but then wat if they have a gd ju jitsu game they will just tap u out from them bk.
LOL that sucks ass if i wanted me and my m8s could do that! He lets him grab his wrist and then has to do a flip to prevent his arm from breaking! Bet the old man wouldn't do shit if u went up and twated him in the nose or even got him in a headlock!
his skill is amazing....he deserves full respect from anyone.....their are alot of jeleous people out there that are younger that will never pick up this skill and to make themselves feel better, they have a sarcastic cheap comment.....take another look at this guy.....who's realy laughing??
He is actually very talented at what he does, im only an orange belt in TaeKwonDo but that is very talented and he should be respected not taunted like some of you people are doing
all those nice smooth throws come down to a wrist-, elbow-, shoulder-break (more of a dislocation)... might work most of the time, though in this demo the opponent is not resisting - simply by surprise!
This is the funniest thing I have seen in a while. There's no way I could ever pull this stuff off, so props to anyone who can, especially any Sr Citizens.
you know wrist control, and leverage and joint manipulation really do work, the cops use the old chicken wing everytime it works to take the opponet to the ground, with you over them, ready to stomp them out.
if the "bad" guy tried to something, all u have to do is break/twist/bend + kick/elbow/knee/punch that guy. you guys don't know how much having finger control (bending fingers) hurts.
1:45 is beast. KOREAN PRIDE!! yes, it's true that in a real fight, the desperation and seriousness of the situation could blank your moves/techniques and make you scared. but truly experienced people (not just regular black belts.. like master master lvl) can actually use them in combat. u should realize that all those moves, the guy has control of the other person through wrist or arm,
Well I feel sorry for the demo guy. Fantastic Style's. All I can say to those that doubt it's use in a real life confrontation is you've gotta see it to believe it... Put yourself in the demo guys shoes, do you really thing if you resisted he wouldn't be able to floor you? Worth thinking about. Great Video. Lot's Of Inspiration.
yes he'd be able to floor me but would he be able to block a good fast knee to the head? perhaps, or perhaps not. all of the techniques revolved around a 'grapple' in the beginning. I respect hapkido but, I am not afraid of it's practioners in a real fight situation.
these are excellent arm lock techniques, but there are no defenses here for leg strikes, or any retaliation from the attacker. what do you do in hapkido if no one grabs you? gramps isn't going to outrun anyone :)
For those of you saying it is fake and that it wouldn't work is BS. I've been doing Taekwondo/boxing for seven years and I got to demonstrate with one of these guys. He just asked me to try and hit him. The only thing I remember is throwing a jab to his head with the cross coming right behind it. The guy had me on the ground before I could blink and I was tapping out. So yeah, it is not fake. And it is even cooler to see someone of that age able to do that.
are there any moves you can recommended for a wheelchair bound senior citizen such as a roundhouse spinning wheel kick or 5 finger spoke thrust? also how can i defend myself against an advancing crazy wheelchair bound knife weilding maniac?
wow that one IS sweet! i agree that the whole thing is kinda staged, but that man has some really cool techniques.
btw this would definitely work in a streetfight. hogsls1fun, no technique is too complicated! after all, its all a question of practice. besides, if one succeeds in a fight, doesnt depend on his fighting-style.
yea i dunno.. looks good il give em that but its to fancy to complicated i dont think alot of it would work in a real streetfight stick to basics i reckon muaythai is great like 1 guy said mma rules!
the old guy is fast and smooth, he passes on at least 1 chance to pop an elbow or shoulder during each takedown... if the agressor didn't move with the old guy so well he'd be be in serious pain and up for some re construction... good work old boy, two very enthustiastic thumbs up :)
1. If you dont move like the guy does, you wrist will be awfully broken, simple.
2.If the hapkido guy misses the grab, no problem, we practice more combat than grabbing techniques.
3Nad to sum it all up, when I usually combat(train) with ppl of other martial arts(boxing, valetudo, taekwondo), they tell before starting: "just kicks & punches, no grabs ok?". So just get informed before posting :P
this is and awsome display of martil arts.i asked my master the same question about pummeling in full force instead of just one punch and stop rutine i still regrest it as i was told to do it and i got fucked. its slow and hold so that u dummies can c and understand wat the master did.

Why are the opponents throwing themselves around on purpose? Obviously you cannot just twist a wrist and make a grown man make a barrel roll.
latuman 2 years ago
If you don't, that bone will break. You're basically put into a joint lock moving your joints in a direction they don't go.
Debility81 2 years ago
this is effective for real fights but wouldnt do well againest mma or ringsport style.
U can tell by the way he pins him down/Knee and keeps his vision up.
but againest a trained judoka or bjj,he'll be disadvantaged.
also nobody jus grabs you.hit then grab, seems to be the way its really done,so a block should turn into a judo hold.,etc..
jumokdragon 2 years ago
You start out doing the techniques from a grab, as you progress you learn to do them from a punch or kick.

Johnohpro8 4 years ago
very possible, if not cracked/broken an arm or wrist could very well hyper extend it or dislocate it.
Flipping in demonstration shows several things: shows how the body reacts and, protects the assaulter from serious harm.
