  • Thank God for Youtube! I wish you the best with your son. Thanks for the video!

  • Hi,

My Brother has Low-functioning Autism. And I do Understand those little accomplishments. Although, he does not have any tantrums, sometimes, dealing with him is hard. He is non-verbal, so that makes it harder. In school, they are trying to toilet Train him, unfourtently, that has not worked. We trying so many differnent things. If you have any suggesions, could you please help me. Not much will bother him, but has major sensory issues. He takes occupational and speech therapy for that.

  • You know that an, in my oppinion, hatefull and offensive blogentry on a blogspot blog named hatingautism links to this video?

  • My parents used to assume i had autism... Turns out i was just a bad kid... :P

  • I appreciate your post. My son also has Hyposensitive Autism w/ADHD & OCD, & does not sleep hardly at all. Literally..at times he stays up ALL night. Luckily last night, I was able to get 4 hrs of sleep. He resembles 'Neil' in the 'Autism A Musical' movie. He does speak but has trouble w/some words, & has dev. delay. He's great. It's hard for others to understand. His ADHD takes center stage most of time. Tantrums in every store, meltdowns periodically, & sometimes violent defiance. I applaud u.

  • this is autism? seems to me like parents that dont punish their children. ever. since birth.

  • His sooo cute:)only needs a little patient,thats all:)

  • Thank you for this post. Could you share any tips on potty/toilet training? It's for my 4 year old who has autism. He is non-verbal at the moment. Thank you.

  • this isn't autism this is how autism effects him. wordings important. autism is souly what is going on inside of his head- this is like showing people a picture of a band and saying this is sound.

  • Stay strong and help him through through all his frustrating times he will go through. I see this is an older video, but understand that the changes he will go through as a child will often frustrate him while he learns to adapt and communicate. His frustration and tantrums are most likely a result from that very frustration of not being able to communicate and also possible sensory over stimulation. Keep patient and remember learning and school are very important in his adapting.

  • I also suffered form that. But I act quite typical

  • Мы знаем, как работать с аутизмом. СПб. Психологический Центр "Седьмое измерение".

  • My 3 1/2 year old grandson is autistic. It has been frustrating at times trying to get him the help he needs. He is in no way ready to toilet train and will not even put the underwear on. He can say some words but not talk in sentences. He uses many phrases he picks up through tv and such. He is a wizz on the computer and Ipad but cannot tell you he wants a drink of water. Sometimes he has meltdowns from outside stimuli such as going to the store or a lawn mower down the street.

  • night terrors are genetic you probroly had them to

  • all good for Ahmed and the family!!

  • great video and you have a beuatiful son I am glad to hear he is doing well

  • @Lilbengman44 wow you are such an idiot! Autistic kids are VERY smart! They're not stupid or special ed, actually they're very intelligent. Albert Einstein was autistic..you probably don't know who he is haha..but he was a GENIUS!! Anyway instead of sitting on youtube judging people & talking shit you know nothing about why don't you do some research on autism?

  • Wow you really do not understand Autism at all. What a joke, your approach is completely and totally off. You obviously, are not reading into your child's NONverbal cues, and haven't taken the time to really try to understand him. Pathetic.

  • I PUT MY DESCRIPTION IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE THIS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS DAMMIT

  • Excuses for kids not learning at the same pace as normal kids. Special Ed should be banned in all schools

  • @Lilbengman44 Hey uh, asshole obviously u dont understand things as well as other people yourself. There are actual cases of death linked to autism. Autism has many symptoms and self injourous behavior is one of them. Can u please explain to us Mr. Knowit all how a sleeping 14month old suddenly awakes from her sleep punching herself in the face for no reason whatsoever other than repetative reflex??? Headbanging on furniture and glass can be deadly idiot. U r heartless educate urself

  • @Lilbengman44 you are just trying toanger a lot of people arent you. you have no idea what it is like to hae autism. autism isn't an excuse it is a reality. imagine for a moment that you struggle to find the words you want to say or cant speak at all. Imagine having no way to filter sensory info and hightend scence, imagine not being able to understand body langauge imagine living in a world where no one understand you and certain texture smells sound or colors cause you pain welcome to autism

  • @ASDogGeek This is very true! my brother is autistic. My brother is VERY Smart! They can do so much more than us, normally, and he does not talk, moslty only using sign language. We are able to understand him, but life can sometimes still be very hard! I have been very well educated about Autism that my brother has. I have all of the info. Sensory is his main issue. Imagine his life! People need to stop being rude to other people because their not the same as them, because thats how life is!

  • @Lilbengman44 I hope you have a child that has Special needs and then you will see what Great things Special Ed does for a Child with Special Needs, I personaly have a child that has Special Needs and will be in something Called a Self Contained Classroom where they are in a class that learns the same curriculum as a mainstream classroom they it is just a little bit more simplfyed for them and they go out to Mainstream classrooms for a lot of their subjucts. Reachearc befor you comment!

  • Hi there!! My name is Tess and I have a 5 year old autie boy. I noticed you guys must be from the NOLA area. We live in Kenner! Perhaps we will see you this April at the walk! Last year was our first and I was just Eric and me. I didn't understand what exactly was going on then but this year I am gathering up a team to walk for that Buddy! AND I want to talk to one of the organizers to see if I could set up a booth. I'd love to be in touch with you, I like having special needs moms as friends.

  • love your children

  • My son has PDD NOS and SID so he potty trained quickly, he did not like the wet feeling. Good luck to all you trying to potty train.

  • congrats on potty training!!! i know how hard that is!

  • @navygf20 My son is 5 and he is also has autism, we are trying to potty train too its hard.

  • he is adorable...god bless him

  • o my gosh he is adorable keep up the good work and im praying for u and your whole family.

    Melissa

  • I think Ahmeds parents are doing a grand job, perserverence really pays off,he is a lovely little boy and I am sure his good times far outway his bad times, the most important thing, is he feels loved and secure, and it is obvious his parents adore him x

  • While I think it's great to document and share cases of autism the title of this video is a bit misleading. My son is autistic and all autistic children are different. My son does not throw severe tantrums or fits so this is not autism for every child that has it. It's just one certain child's severity and one child's individual example of autism. Not a accurate display of autism in general. It is nearly impossible to generalize autism in any one child's case.

  • To his autism/ADHD/possible Bipolar diagnoses:

autistics have allways some ADHD tendencies and if you diagnoses after the DSM IV, then you can't disgnose them together. It doesn' make a lot of sence anyway, by some it is even believed that also ADHD is on the autism-spectrum because there are so many similarities. To bipolar: In children it is very difficult to distinguish between ADHD and bipolar and a person who scores high on a bipolar test might just have ADHD.

  • Autistics also tend to feal their emotions very strong and not being able to deal with it, espesially as a little child. Normally over the years the tandrums get better and all that, but that's not bipolar, that's ALL autism. If you ask me, he is overdiagnosed. If you ask me, he is autistic and that's it and maybe he'll develop some further problems around puperty where he might notice that it's difficult for him to cope with the world. But I think you do a great job how I see it! :)

  • Hi Ahmedsmom, this is Ali's dad and mom. thanks for stopping by our site and thanks for your support and encouraging words. We are noticing minute improvements, but to us they are gigantic driving force for us to hope for the best and keep doing the right things.

Ahmed is a very adorable kid, I'm hope these tantrums don't last long, and glad to know he is saying sentences.

We are starting this week to potty-train Ali. we have no idea how to do it... Any hints on starting?

    thanks

  • we have been working with Ahmed for one year to potty train.. he still must wear diapers to sleep but daytime is better. we bought him underwear with cartoon characters he likes-spongebob or batman and we tell him "don't pee pee on spongebob" we take him to toilet every 30 minutes. in the beginning he didnt understand, my husband and oldest son also showed him what to do and it is difficult at first because the childs mind doesn't comprehend, but continue this and you will have success InShallah

  • Thank you very much for those tips. we were laughing when we realized that spongebob was getting peed at.. poor thing :-)

wow, knowing that you have been doing potty training for a year and still going strong gives us hope and encouragement. we don't see progress yet, and we have lots of accident, but at least he is cooperative and stay on the potty for up to 10 min.

I think we need to buy "cars" underwear and do your trick ;-)

  • @abualialshehri my wife and I hired a woman who specializes with working with children with autism to potty train our son who then was 6...we had a "potty party". he got a stack of books that he would like and a few toys the he favored and he sat on the toilet for 4 hours before he peed...then another 3 hours later he peed again. NO MORE DIAPERS!! YAY! It really worked! i was a skeptic but many praises to Allah that he blessed my wife with patience and me with ear plugs!

  • @abualialshehri

Recently our five year old has started doing the same sort of screaming and crying. It looks just like Ahmed's tantrums. We have noticed episodes peak on after meals and suspect it may be food related (not all of the issues only the extremeness of the tantrums). We are having him tested for wheat and gluten intolerance as well as casein.

Good luck. I hope that he can be happy as it is the same thing we wish for our boy.

  • it's not what I think, that is the pyschiatrists diagnosis

  • Why do u think there is possible bi-polar disorder?
