It seems so different from the farmers markets that you get where I live. It seems almost like a grocery store, the one in my town is in a big community center in the winter and in an open field in the summer and all the farmers have their own booths where they sell their produce. The Japanese farmer's market is still very cool though.
That was cool, taking us with you to the store there, but next time, slow down a bit when you're in there so we can see the products if you dont mind. Do they mind if you film inside there?
Brown rice is good with organic miso soup and cooked veggies with seaweed (Konbu) & dried Shiitake mushroom broth. You can use this broth for soup as well. In Japan, there is a traditional buddhist vegetarian cuisine called Shojin Ryori. Just copy and paste 精進料理 for searching on Youtube. Or find Buddhist cuisine on Wiki. I guess I will subscribe this channel too as you updating more than the other one.
I looked up your recommendation and I am very interested. One of the teachers I teach with is a monk so I will ask him about it too. Thanks for posting it!
I try to make videos for both channels, I have been so busy lately with school I haven't done much. Thanks for hanging in there and I will get more up soon!
you weren't kidding in jason's blogtv last night when you said that you were going to post a video! such pretty scenery and i really liked the farmer's market. by the way, what kind of camera do you use? sorry if you've answered this question before! thanks! oh! also, do you have to cook the different "rice levels" differently (longer, shorter, more water?) did that even make sense?
Haha, yeah, I need to make more videos, I have so much to talk about, but not enough time to make them.
I actually use a Canon Powershot SD 800IS, which does a better job than most dedicated video cameras. The only thing I can't do is zoom, but I never really need that anyway.
As for the rice, the more it's ground, the quicker it will cook. Brown rice (level 10) takes much longer to cook than level 1 rice. BUT, in a rice cooker, I hardly notice the difference.
ah~ every time i see your videos it makes me want to go to japan~!! everything seems so~ um.. *struggling to come up with a way to describe it* friendly and (..) um.. i dont know - nice=P
It just what I'm used to. At my schools and stuff its all the same. I take it an extra step further and get the precleaned. That's just due to laziness though.
Where this is located is really inaka and the market is usually a little busier than in this video, but not much. I have to cycle for about 20min to get there (it's 2 towns away). One cool thing is the nice view of the shinkansen.
I went to a farmers market near closing time once, everything (fruits and veggies) were almost all 70% off! super great deal. some things were $1 per bag which had at least 15 pieces of good, ripe fruit.
Nice! I have been to this one around closing time, they don't have specials like that, but overall, the prices are good and it supports the local farmers, so I'm happy.
It's looks yummy!
And thank you so much for advice! Me and my friend, Evan-kun will live in Japan!
We're going to college there. :D

I like the bag the rice was in! It was cute! It looks really nice in that area, a little bit more calm from what I can see.

I thought the same thing when the lady handed it to me!
Where this market is located, it's very rural and peaceful. I live more in the city, but it is still peaceful, just different. :)

Farmers markets are great, supporting these smaller stores is an awesome thing.
