  • been killing time for over 30 years listening to the studio album and still doesnt want to die!

  • I remember late 70's. A musicians mag, name escapes me. In wanted section everyone was saying..looking for such&such a musician to play UK type stuff.UK really had such strong following then.Shame Holdsworth not prepared2 'compromise',if only to earn a decent living then concentrate on his own projects outside of this.Silly man.Christ I mean it's not exactly a shit job compared to what most of us have to do for a living.Instead he practically starved to death & UK fell apart after the 2nd album.

  • @pobinr Wow, that's a different point of view! It wasn't just AH, BB was equally discontent. EJ & JW wanted to go 1 way, AH & BB another. The irony is after AH/BB left, the same thing happened to EJ & JW - Wetton wanted to go even more commercial (strong hints on songs like "Nothing to Lose") than EJ, and indeed did so with ASIA. I think the world of all of them! And Holdsworth didn't exactly starve. What is money worth if it doesn't buy the feeling that you want the life that you have?

  • @ScottLoiselle Saw once thoughts on these by BB himself. He said that there were 2 types of musicians out there: Those who think that the ultimate purpose of a musician is to guess what the audience expects and give it to them, and those who just do what they feel like doing and hope the audience will follow. Him and AH were in the second category while EJ and JW were in the first. BB thought that would give a tension in the band which could lead to some great things. In a way, he was right…

  • allan on guitar? sounds like it... good quality recording! thanks!

  • God bless YouTube...and you too damphear2.

  • Wow, four days after HS graduation. This was about the time that I discovered UK/Bruford, etc.

  • Fucking incredible

  • I just discovered this band today and I'm simply blown away by everything UK has made. Sometimes I wish I was born decades earlier just to live in the great prog rock era. Unfortunately, for me, '91 was everything but prog rock.

  • reminds me of pre-arena concerts of the time machine. as a matter of fact, this song is alive and well in the concert halls, in the backs of cars. it's played before the band comes on in the ampitheatre, those philosophers and plowmen.

  • Alaska is really amazing

  • saw these guys aug of 1978 at Dr. pepper concerts in central park.....they lead off for Al DiMeola......FIRST TIME I EVER SAW BRUFORD LIVE.....A NIGHT THAT CHANGED MY LIFE.....

  • Terrific. Saw them at Edinburgh's Usher Hall, I think, then went backstage with a keyboard-playing friend of mine and got to talk keyboards with Jobson, who looked fragile but had a bone-crushing handshake. Talked to Wetton, too. They put on a fantastic show, and I wish they had lasted for a bit more. But this was '78, and the type of rock they did was scorned by the critics, as anything but punk tended to be.

  • rehash Emerson Lake and Palmer music!!!!

  • where can the studio quality be found?

  • @boibad12 get a hold of a copy of this concert

  • @rockandfloyd dream theater sucks fucking ass. dont ever post that shit on my video again

  • @damphear2 I have not said not badly at all, obviously UK is better than Theater, not in order that you warm up the head? Piece of shit!.

  • @damphear2 I have not said not badly at all, obviously UK is better than Theater, not in order that you warm up the head? I look for the bootleg of this magnificent presentation.

  • damm Bruford was so stiff. could he do fills other than quarters on each tom. i respect it all considering the time. great band. Holdsworth gets Wackerman for complete chaos on drums. must explain to me why he had enough of BB.

  • @Travs64 Neither Bruford nor Holdsworth are playing on this. Holdworth was gone, and Bozzio is on drums.

  • @JackBlair2 wrong this live was perform by wetton bruford holdsworth and jobson the precisie tone of drums it's a signature of bruford bozzio has a good tone but this wasn't him b-sides i have this live on a boogglet and this was the line up sorry but check it

  • @Satiaraha question is: whose sound was a "better" fit? Boz or Bru? I am a little biased by hearing the studio versions with whom I thought was Bozzio...correct me, if I am off, please. Gracias, amigo

  • @dkofva The studio UK album was definitely Bill Bruford, as is this show. Those old Ludwig Roto Toms sure sounded piss poor. Bill "is" alwaze innovating tho'. That snap on a 14"x 6½" Ludwig Supersensitive chrome plated snare is unmistakable.

  • @JackBlair2

Listening, Bruford not Bozzio at 99%

  • I first heard them in 1994 on cassette and it blew me away!!! I have been a fan since

  • saw them open for Tull at the Civic Arena...

    bad seats, Great show!!!

  • that solo backing from time to kill is still one of my absolute favorite moments in rock

  • A great and magnificent band!

  • Que presentación, increíble. Además con un temazo.

  • I really wish the original line up would get together, but I suppose the musical differences among the original line up were just too great. Each member added something dynamic to the band and helped produce some awesome music. I would alternately make a time machine and go back to see them live, but that is impossible.

  • I did see them live. Summer of '78 in Philly. They were awesome.

  • I saw them open up for Jethro Tull at the Spectrum, same show?

  • Actually it was a free concert at Penn's Landing during the free summer concert series the city used to sponsor.

  • @killianrhee - That is fantastic! It is great to hear UK here and also thanks to those who provided vids from the Danger Money album.

  • I love the PWM droning tone of the CS-80!

  • Thanks for posting

  • jobson incredible.....did Bill Bruford ever play a show with Jean-Luc Ponty? If he did'nt he sure could have , after hearing this.

  • I saw them at Santa Monica Civic back in 70's. It was Wetton, Holdsworth, Jobson, Bruford.. amazing.

  • yeah HQ!5*****

  • Anybody possible way I could get the audio from this gig?

  • I know that the mp3 site MP3VA (cheap, cheap, cheap !) has it.

    Type : "U.K. - Live In Boston"

-don't forget the "dots" after the U and the K.

  • Proud confederate, I was there too pal. Fifth row center. Al D did open for them and when he came out he seemed very unsure of himself and he just could not match the insane energy that UK produced. Return to Forever came out during his encore and saved the night for Al D. One of the best shows I ever saw.

  • The 1st songs on side B? Still LOVE it!

  • Why didn't they release a live record of this lineup - simply amazing!

  • they did in a way. a few concerts like this were on fm radio

  • @damphear2 Also the live album Live In America is an unofficial release featurig this line-up - it's a good album, worth getting if you find it!

  • @BlackenedGass i have all the bootlegs besides 2 witch are kinda not so good

  • They did, "NIGHT AFTER NIGHT" Jobson, Wetton & Bozzio. Saw this lineup open for Jethro Tull @ the Providence Civic Ctr.

  • that was incredible!

  • I saw this tour at the Santa Monica Civic in 1978. It was awesome.

  • i have the full show from this date 1978-7-28

  • If I remember correctly, Al DiMiola also was on the bill. What a great band. Do you have the audio or video, 'cause I don't remember seeing any cameras filming it?

  • only audio. most of the UK footage is lost or locked up

  • Man, that was pretty vicious. Thanks for posting. I wish I could have a copy of this gig. Uk was the freaking greatest. Rock doesn't have to be stupid. UK combined Intelligence and fury!

  • if only their album sold and they stayed together

I wish a commercial radio station would play this music and see what the reaction would be from their listening public. I can't imagine people wouldn't love it. It's brilliant, it rocks, hell - you can even dance to it... well sort of... : )

  • Oslo late '70's was awesome !

  • these guys were timeless.

  • good tune !
