  • 3.8 seconds is what you get if you dont use launch control! zr1 doesnt have launch control so to make it fair we have to turn it off.

  • If 2 everyday car enthusiasts, went out and bought a GTR and ZR1, and raced them againist each other, the GTR would win easily, in all these videos where a ZR1 beats a GTR its driven by a profesional, so they know how to use it, but these cars arent jsut race cars, there designed for the everyday world, the GTR will always be faster in the real world.

  • @JC278 True. It takes a great driver to go from 0-60 in 3.5 secs in a zr1. Even then it's hard to stay consistent. Any retard can do 0-60 in 3.5 sec's in a GTR all day long. Plus it takes an expert driver to put down good laps in a ZR1. GTR is alot easier to drive for the average person. The GTR's performance is much more useable.

  • @m19921992 Insideline got a 3.3 0-60 time with their first test of a 2009 GTR. The vid is in the right column in the related videos. Half of a second faster than this one, and even faster than Nissan's official 3.5 second rating for the 2009 model.

Early GTR's were riddled with transmission failures and electronic inconsistency, I would expect the average GTR to do 0-60 in more than 3.3sec. You've got to remember Nissan has been caught pumping up the press cars and doing laps with R compounds(and saying they used street tires).

He said so on the forums before it blew. Nissan never got caught with any kind of r compound tires. That's the BS the domestic fanboys believed due to some kind of translation error from japanese. The gtrs always ran with factory tires.

  • @m19921992 Yes, because car companies voiding warranties on raced vehicles is unheard of...right? I'm willing to bet a lot of high performance vehicles carry the same warnings. If the GTR had a manual, it wouldn't be as fast and people would destroy them like the evo and sti guys do by dumping the clutch at redline.

  • @ambientflier For the most part with sports cars, companies wont void your warranty. The simple fact is the GTR isn't a fun car to drive, and its not reliable(even Nissan themselves don't want to deal with it). I do agree with a 6 speed the GTR wouldn't be as fast, but it'd have alot more going for it. I also don't believe people would destroy them as easily.

  • @smczack1 I would sure hope the ZR1 could beat a 2009 gtr, seeing as how it's much more expensive and has 150hp more, dumbass. The Z06 has the same power and costs about the same, so it makes sense for them to run neck and neck.

  • @steelgolfer811 Hey genius, if this awd car has so much wheelspin, chances are the Z06 would be above 4 seconds to 60 because obviously the surface is very slick. A GTR will beat a Z06 in the 1/4 every single time under similar conditions. Can't top awd and launch control.

  • @ambientflier um a z06 has a trap speed of over 120mph while the 09 gt-r doesn't and never has (2012 clocked in at 124 though). so it will actually lose in the quarter mile genius. I've seen a lot of these races an all the gt-r can do against the z06 is beat it in the 0-60mph and then the z06 will slowly pull away. Gt-r is a glorified jap car that when launched hard (ruining the warranty) will make it close to what the porsche turbo can do. but a nissian is still a shitty car like a vette

  • @suprattkk Lol...the Z06 can have a 130mph trap speed and the GTR can have a 100mph trap speed, but if the time for the Z06 is an 11.8 and the GTR an 11.7, the Nissan is still faster in the 1/4. The trap speed only means the Corvette will be faster AFTER the 1/4 mile or from a roll. The Z06 will NEVER pull away until well after 100mph, if at all. Get a clue.

    Also, the launch control doesn't void any warranty on ANY gtr. It did for a bit, until Nissan reprogrammed it.

The answer will be little to none. The problem is not a ZR1 with too much power.   • Not a chance. The 370Z weighs about 3200lbs to the GT-R's 3800. Contrary to what people keep insisting, a RWD car like a Z also has more handling potential than AWD if they are both given a skilled driver. That is why it handles better. There is no car short of a race car that can corner on a skidpad at 2g's let along something that weighs as much as a GT-R.

  • Watch how the GTR goes round the skid pad, its designed to be driven fast by anyone it doesn't slide or wobble or scare the shit out of you, corvettes are race cars for pro's who can handle it. GM If you're gonna put that kind of power on a public highway at least make it safer for everyone, the days when everyone can drive like a hooligan are fading. The US car makers need to stop building this garbage and give us some real engineering, this huge power stuff has already been done years ago.

  • @ctcosgrove i kno how old ur comment is but i just gotta answer.... have u heard of the 2013 c7? they plan to make it a 5.5 liter 440 hp car.... i highly doubt it will keep its "only for pro" driving style.... seems to me it will be an easier track car to drive.. and hopefully it will have explosive acceleration i mean a corvette with 440 hp? it should be super light if they plan to make it a super car... and they arent playing around with it... i heard its gonna go against porsche 911 gt2 :)

  • I do not understand why Chevy faggots have to be competitive to the point of stupidity. The GT-R was made to challenge the Z06,not ZR1. The power difference is obvious,more than 100. And the spec sheets are contrasting. Point 2. The GT-R Spec V is made NOT for performance,but for exclusivity,the main reason for mild but effective upgrades and a wee bump of 5 horsepower. Even the GT-R's chief engineer said "The high performance GT-R you are looking for isn't the Spec V. That is only a glimpse."

  • No it doesn't, but it won't Mototrend Americas best handling car 2008 beating the GT-R. Everybody says it handles better. Nissan GT-R doesn't even let driver play, it just goes around corners in slight understeer and oversteer for minimal loss of speed and that's it. Audi R8 is probably the best handling car on planet.

  • Unfortunantly the ACR was and is the best in raw handling. Where the R8 kicks it ass is in driver feel and comfort. The ACR forces you to push it, the R8 lets you do what you want.

  • You're must be kidding, everything about Viper's handling is just terrible. Lack of grip on the front wheels, understeer that immediately goes into oversteer, the only good thing about ACR are tweaks that a German company made to the chassis. In the end, Viper has some extreme levels of grip that allows for high cornering speed, but handling? Not even a slightly. I don't know why you are argueing, Motortrend's Americas best handling car is Audi R8, the end. It beat the GTR as well as Viper ACR.

  • I'm not arguing, because theres nothing to argue about. As far as a track car the ACR shits on most everything out. In Motortrend's Americas best handling car test the Viper was runninbg 5 sec faster lap times than even the GTR, which was running about a sec faster than the R8. Nobody in Germany touched the ACR because the ACR's cassis is a stock SRT-10 chassis, only differncxe is suspension and areo, aswell as weight. There is no understear in with the ACR, watch it at the track, its glued.

  • 1. Wrong, the chassis was tuned by German company called KW motoring, they added their suspension that improved basically everything. Handling doesn't mean the same as Grip or cornering speed. ACR can generate the highest G forces of all cars through the corners but that doesn't mean it handles as well as the Audi R8.

    Also, R8 was only a second behind GT-R, but look how it's down on power. GT-R has around 500 HP and 470 lb·ft of torque. R8 has respectable 414 HP but ONLY 317 lb·ft of torque

  • and torque is very important when accelerating out of a corner.

  • ACR has 600 bhp, a boeing wing on the back, stickier tires and 560 lb·ft of torque, so not a very good comparison also.

    Motortrend put ACR as well as GTR against R8 in handling comparison and they chose R8 as a winner. The end.

  • sorry but pretty much all of that is total bullshit. 1. the zr1 is based on the block of the base c6 engine and uses a supercharger, weighing 170 lbs less than the gt-r engine, also how come the zr1 stops from 60 10 feet shorter and has 0.13 g more lateral acceleration?! it pulls harder through the corners too, the ring time youre using was incredibly sloppy compare to the gt-r lap.

  • Gidsum29, what is a transaxle without a transmission? DUH! Of course it is transmission,clutch and axle differential related. Dual clutch, single clutch, it does not matter Kiddies, heat changes the tolerences in the fit. Too hot and parts bind, friction material glazes,and it will burn up under big torque application. Off road clutches big truck clutches even motorcycle clutches. By the way Lambo, porsche, and ferrari clutches replacement cost as much as many nice little cars.

  • The bottom line is the GTR, Gallardo, F430, Corvette, etc, etc are all VERY fast cars. It's just different strokes for different blokes. Some people like the Small block Chevy, others like the feel of a Turbocharged V6, and others like the High-Revving V8. Some others like the High tourque V12. It just depends what ya'll like. Me personally? Ferrari anyday, but that's me. I could argur the finer points of a Ferrari all day, but if someone dosen't get it, they don't get it.

Check inside line nissan GTR 1st full test, it says the GTR 1/4 mile was a record breaker, falling behind was corvette z06 and Viper. Yes I know the Zr1 beat that, but you keep mentoning z06. You have to give the system(launch control) time to cool between runs (as with any duel clutch system i.e; Porsche new PDK system) as indicated by a blinking red light on the dash. This was ignored by a handful of ABUSERS that made consecutive runs and have a leaking tranaxle because of ABUSE. If your car is overheating would you pull over or keep driving?

  • Well in Japan and Europe the GTR did just fine over there. if u read up on it, u'd know that excessive use of the launch control causes problems in the tranaxle. u must allow it to cool down, just like launching cars at high RPMs sometimes blows certain parts of your car. when magazines do tests, they actually launch the car 5 or 6 times and then average the numbers out. i didnt see a problem there. maybe rich kids got the car for their bday and went out trying to get 0-60 in 3.2 EVERY TIME

It is a cheatis means to accomplish an end that they haven't truely earned (They run it past its breaking point to get there). The day that the car can do the numbers and not royally fuck itself up, then they have a nice vehicle.

    I forget what happened, but Nissan wanted the rear trans-axel sent back to japan for testing.

    Dont know if that would cause them to have such different 0-60 times but its obvious that something has changed...even they get different times in their videos!

  • 60mph 3.2-3.4 sec with LC on and good driver, i take a GTR over a ZR1 allday, the GTR is a real machine for anyone, anytime,anywhere not like the ZR1 a plastic crab its just faster and dangerous but not reliable you`ll never see a ZR1 on snow road.. GTR Godzilla
