I don't want a personal bailout, just the chance to succeed or fail depending on my own actions. So help me succeed by checking out some Dweenal videos! Please and thank you.
Woman is the dumbest person I've ever seen. So it's not okay if we bail them out willy nilly. But if they decide to "go green" it's OK.
The truth is that it's not. "Green" cars won't catch on just yet because they're far too expensive. The gas savings is not justified with their rather expensive upkeep as well as initial purchase price.
In addition, the bailout of a company with taxpayer money is never justifiable under the Constitution. But that little old thing doesn't seem to stop congress.
You better watch out You better all spy Better not pout I'm tellin' you guys Martial Law is comin' to town He's tracking all men And lady's, alright! Gonna find out who's naughty or nice Martial Law is comin' to town He sees you when you're sleeping He knows when you're awake He knows if you've been bad or booked So be good for goodness sake!
This woman and These people are the same type of person that would buy blood diamonds like in the true story movie,Blood diamonds. Next thing they will want to outsourse our military for cheaper soldiers. People like them are the ones against farm aid of the past. They must also love foreign oil because it's cheaper, plus thinks its better to have foreiners working our oil rigs.Dont believe in fair trade as long as she or he can save buck, sell outs. Race to the bottom fools. Dont trust them.
Bestwaybyusa, she completly ( the reporter ) agrees with you. You may be confused the way she put it, but she is on your side. She is not oposing to help the american worker. She is oposing to help the executives that keep getting all profits for them. Nobody wants to outsource the US army...actually it is right now outsourced by the lobbiest for the interest of private companies. These executives and unions are the ones that outsourced the US production of goods.
People need to support USA goods buy American made goods. Dont have the mind set of the 70s and 80s. That it cool, rebelish, to just not care and buy foriegn goods. Many of our polititians & media would have you believe this, they're in the back pockets of many foriegn companies And just like sheep many people follow them. Dont be a sheep help American workers out be Patriotic buy and look for USA goods in stores and on line We can not wait and be sheep to paid off polititains
I guess this sucks-in viewers. Like O'reilly on Fox.
NO to BAIL OUT!! Let them re-think themselves and bring in SMARTER people to run things.
So don't worry america.. you should keep your "tradition", just up-grade to a new world economy and get green! It's taken you too long to realize this.
Please listen to exactly what this stupid ass reporter says at 5:20 to 5:30. This represents most of Americas complete MISunderstanding of economics. She called this an "information age economy"... What the hell does that mean?? I'm a mechanical engineer with an MBA and I can assure you that without a solid foundation for any economy NOBODY will have jobs. This includes all of the "good" jobs that don't add wealth to the country. i.e. healthcare, legal, gov't jobs, retail, & mom/pop shops.
hey she is one of the best commentators on all of Tv. atleast she raises some points which makes sense. how many others do you know who talk against subsidizing agriculture and its affect on immigraition etc.
In order for America to get back on track, perhaps we should take a look at Japan and Germany. They both build GREAT products AND they are "green" friendly. CHINA and MEXICO are destroying the environment and both build crap products. Americans MUST look to intelligent nations who have also achieved success. We should be ashamed of ourselves for exploiting the Chinese and Mexicans. My message? Unions, please let up a bit. Corporations, Keep jobs here or you too will be out of business.
The foundation of any successful economy is based on the transformation of raw materials into a finished product. In the USA that is Manufacturing, Farming, Mining, etc. Everyone (even those on the left) need to realiz that without this foundation, there will be no one with money to pay doctors, lawyers, insurance agents, or any part of the retail industry. The news NEVER mentions this because those who own the news corporations know that VERY big business people get rich by outsourcing.
PLEASE notice that politicians always talk about "JOBS", but there are huge differences in the types of jobs that exist in a country. The health care industry for example is not creating any wealth in this country, sure there are good "jobs" there, but really the industry is robbing Americans blind. Now, America NEEDS the auto industry. Yes they have fallen behind and they have tons of room for improvement, but it simply can't die.
This bailout needs to happen for America, however we may need to let the big three "fail" on paper first before the bailout. If the unions can be killed, this would allow the auto makers to restructure and compete with Toyo and Honda (very respectable companies, I'm not dissing them). There need to be one HUGE stipulation to this bailout that I have not heard from any brainwashed news anchor or jackass politician. THE INVESTMENT IS TO BUILD JOBS IN AMERICA ONLY!!!!
Velez, would be like listening to Nancy Grace, Judge Judy and Sarah Palin at the same time.
Only the already, Insane can do it!
You ever watch NCAA or NBA. In a close game the masses are persuaded, convinced, programmed to believe, that last ball going through the hoop is the most important thing on earth. These same Human frailties are exploited by Them and they don,t tell you,
It's funny to see how popular the Dr. is now. Before the election, the poor guy couldn't get any airtime, now he's saught after for his views on economics and policy. The problem with the auto industry is that they build an inferior product compared to the Japanese, and the majority of American consumers cannot afford to purchase a car. Cut the shit just cut the shit. Oh yeah, the auto industry can't always expect to be so profitable that it can support million dollar salaries. Cut the shit.
I was under the impression that they allowed Glen Beck on the air to dispell the fact that CNN is outrageously liberally biased...I guess they just don't care anymore.
5:36 the dollar standard is coming to a end----Big money knows this and will make you believe the dollar is ok but really you will see a fast collapes of the us dollar in 2009
Whats the problem with her? She speaks out AGAINST the bailout which the right thing in my opinion. Ron Paul doesn't want a bailout either. So what?
Its the banks and the companies own faults if they go bancrupt. They are still producing cars of which the majority need WAY TOO MUCH fuel. They could build cars with about 3 liters on 100 miles. Or even electro cars or whatnot.
I wonder what she said the next day when Citigroup received their bailout. NO matter how awful all these bailouts are, I hope people notice the contempt they have for average people when adamantly opposing a bailout that would have actually helped workers. This whole country is sick
i don't know why you guys are bashing this woman. She's right about what she's saying. Our country doesn't export much anymore, and if the car companies want a bailout then they better have a plan in making cars that can compete with all these japanese imports americans buy.
Of course without decades of massive illicit cashflows and protectionist tarrifs and subsidies there'd be no auto industry in America to bail out in the first place.
Oddly enough bailing out the auto industry makes more sense than buying worthless fraudulently created non-assets from banks and paying them to buy eachother up while they still refuse to lend money in a debt based monetary system of their design. I don't agree with it, but it is stricking that the bailout that actually has some reasonable arguments in it's favour, is less likely to go forward than the criminal coverup and compensation of bank fraudsters.
That woman is so damn arrogant and annoying. All she does is rant and rave, offering solutions without even comprehending the fundamentals of what she is against.
Dr Paul is everywhere these days. He had time to talk and state some good points. He must be the most popular politician after Obama. He got to mention two major culprits for our economic problems. Lobbyists and the FED. I wish he'd put more emphasize on it though.
He should really take these numerous media opportunities to say that he might run for president again but leave it vague. At least the seed would be planted now and could better grow when watered at the right time.
He should forget about running for president and physically mobilize people to take action big and small locally. Band together with others in a common goal and get things done. Otherwise all his support and supporters will accomplish little to nothing in the grand scheme of things. Separatist attitude is not what is needed know it needs to be a cooperative effort of like minded people from the ground up. Needs a leader to initiate this. It's not going to come from Washington and never will.
"Globally friendly" and "Greener" It amazes me that there are some people who think that our biggest problems are that we're not environmentally friendly enough.
It's a win win situation, Good for our economy and the environment. We need to get off oil. Period. The viable options have been sitting on the table collecting dust for 20 years and now the technology is better than cars burning oil/gas
Yes technology is there and it is more eco- friendly and better for our wallets but my point was that that isn't what is causing them to fail. The overhead burdens of the UAW is a big thorn in it's side. They need to address the reasons why they ended where they are now. Also I am opposed to bailouts and forcing those who are bailed out to re-tool. I venture to say Ron Paul feels the same way. She sounds Socialist. Government shouldn't tell any business how to run it's operations.
Yes but the full story is that its a toxic chemical of greed at the top and poor management as well as just a piece of shit product(s). They can easily produce more efficient cars and keep the price the same and they'd see windfall profits and a massive consumer interest but that's not good for everyone involved so they falter. They bailed out Chrysler in 1979 and profited from it but now they effed up again and have their hand out. RP is not the only person to feel this way and gvt is skewed
You cannot back some things yet not others. Their should be a criteria and a way for the people to weigh in and have their voice heard equally as loud as those in congress on each issue. It is after all our money. Money that is spent for our benefit. Necessity should come first. What our rights our and what is needed. Everything else should further support this notion. If banks fail because they invest poorly then so be it. Car company so be it. The problem is the gvt has supported greed
Those who care nothing for the health or well being of those which they serve. No matter the company/corp. In essence violating an agreement or trust. Making any contract void. They should suffer and bare the consequences of their actions. But how can this happen in gvt? What happens if the congress does this? Where do we turn to? Herein lies the real problem. We have police to enforce the law of the land. Gvt and Corp. law enforcement needs to be as rigorously enforced. How?
She makes her mistake by saying the bailout should be passed if there is a plan, including "Green standards." Green standards are one of the things that got us in this mess. These companies were forced to make smallerm more fuel efficient vehicles, which were contrary to the public demand for SUVs, etc at the time. NO BAILOUT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should have been her intro.
Some Change! Hillary as Secretary of State. Just what we need more of the same lying sack of Pinnochio Chips.
So much for the 'Change We Need'. So much for the real 'Change' promised by Obama while begging for Our votes, to change Washington.
I should have just written in Ron Paul.
Although I disagree with the good Dr. about letting the big 3 fail. Too many hard working Americans will be severely hurt and left in depression with-out a bridged loan with many 'go green' strings attached.
Can somebody please explain to me why we're still protecting Japan for free under the terms we set after WW2? Japan has no military expenses (unlike us), so the Japanese government just pours all their money into research and development for companies like sony and toyota and then those companies run ten times more efficiently than American companies like Ford and GE because they receive tons of money from the Japanese government, then the Japanese companies put our companies out of business.WTF
"Japan" and "America" are just mental constructs. There are no countries, only corporations. They are in the process of securing foreign markets. This will take some time and, perhaps, the blood of your children, but profit must be got.
You think they give money to politicians for nothing?
just pisses me off theough we bail out the worthless banksters before industry... fuck... i think the government should seize Henry Paulsons bounus and assets. That would send a big populist message...
Finally, Ron Paul makes it so clear. It seems every time he opens his mouth the message is always clear. Never from Obama and only sometimes from McCain. No bailout, just preach financial responsibility and tell the CEO's to get back on their private jets and get to work!
Why doesn't big oil bail out the auto sector? Big oil profits with todays American auto market. Bail out the taxpayer who's losing the shirts off their backs. This is criminal! A fraud! Thanks to the FED!!
Just type "JBS end fed contact congress" into google and click the top link, Send a pre wrtten letter to congress about abolishing the Federal Reserve!
Please, see the movie-documentary-WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR- and you'll know why the car companies deserve nothing, and if they want somebody to bail them out, Asthon Kutcher(The phunk dud said on Bill Maher show) let the oil industry bail them out, cause they are loyal to them, no to the people.
There should not be a bailout, correct. But her opening statement is not the reason why. She's complaining how they refuse to go green and are stuck in the past. Not true at all. If the government regulations allowed and the people wanted, they would have been "green" in the 60's when they were looking at hydrogen. There should be no bailout because it's stealing money from the citizens to give it to companies with poor business practices. Let's take the $5T and divide it up among citizens
There should be no bailout of the big three carmakers.
The proper answer is to let the market take its course.
These companies wont disappear. They will merge, downsize, sell off parts and so on. Whatever makes the most sense and is most efficient will happen.
When the government bails out corporations, it forces taxpayers to subsidize inefficiencies & bad decisions. It penalizes those who make good decisions by forcing them to subsidize the bad. Enough of Billionaire Bailout mania!
agreed! we need to stop catering to the evil industries' demands! well.. they should stop* i don't cater to them.. so whose decision was it again to give them money in the first place? i don't remember voting :(
GM, Ford and our other automotive factories are part of the military industrial complex, our national security depends on the for possible wartime production of machinery. The government will never allow them to fully collapse and stop running. It is interesting in these days to see how they will continue to be propped up if they are not economically viable. But remain functional they must.
She talks about capitalism when she should be focused on free markets vs central planning. If I were on TV, talking about such things, I would read Keynes, and Hayek, and understand the fundamental principles of free markets vs central planning. Getting a bail out package is wrong no matter what, and a free market with free people spending sound money will allow the best products at the best prices to succeed. Let the market decide. Avoid price fixing, and support sound honest money!
Notice how much air and TV time Ron Paul gets now that the election is over. The 'powers that be' worked hard to keep his message from being heard during the primaries. Now we are all going to be living without the blessings of our cherished Constitution or sound money.
Fuck "green" rhetoric, I love the environment, but I fucking hate the state, using the parasitic and violent properties of such an entity "for the greater good" is not the way to go about saving the planet.
Emotion? This has nothing to do with emotion, and everything to do with sound economics. Government intervention has never done any good for the long-run economy it has only further harmed it and caused more problems, which lead to more "solutions". Yeah people are getting emotional about it because we can see our government destroying our country in the process of trying to "save" it.
Jane Velez-Mitchell is a breath of fresh air. I really like this, because she engages the great Dr. Ron Paul in a way that allows him to not only speak the truth but elaborate. I would love to see more of Jane interviewing Dr. Paul.
That woman looks weird with that nose. Anyway, There are an exorbitant number of jobs, directly and indirectly, that will be affected if the situation with the Big 3 is not handled properly. Those companies set certain contractual obligations to be cleared up by 2010. The UAW makes things sticky and slow. Once these come into effect the Big 3 will become more flexible, like their foreign counterparts, and begin to return to prosperity. Bailout or not, extreme care is needed at this time.
why is she yelling? She is like Joe Piscopo on Sports, Ron Paul says a lot of smart things; I don't agree with everything he says but he should be heard.
I really wish Ron Paul would tell his LOST party (whats left of it anyway) to SHOVE it (!) and go independent. The VAST majority of Republicans will simply NEVER get it. They just can't see into that (libertarian) window. They can't think "outside the box". They've been drinking the Hush Bimbo kool-aid for too long. Decades of being dumbed down . . .
Sure, many Dems, independents, and libertarians are dumbed down as well (GOP blowback - lol), but I don't think they celebrate it or glorify it (this willful ignorance) like the modern (mainstream / establishment) Republican Party of the last 30 years. The point is, the Republican Party of LONG, long ago was NOT so rabidly anti-intellectual. It's toxic and bad for the country.
Nah, this woman is simply jumpin on the bandwagon yet still pushing twisted information. Go green? To hell with this whole global warming, save the earth crap that's only set up to choke what's left of the middle class to death!
Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master... George Washington
" Anyone can become angry. That is easy. But to be angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose and in the right way - that is not easy." --Aristotle
Notice how much TV time Ron Paul gets now that the election is over? The sheeple, and the powers that be, wanted a historic election between two democrats and voted without even getting a chance to hear Ron Paul. Whatever was left of the Constitution and sound money is or will soon be history and we will now have to live and deal with the horrid consequences.
I don't think the host was annoying at all. She seemed right on. And if she spoke a lot, remember, its her show. The sort of person who gets that job enjoys talking.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Ron Paul is smart but not right on this. The countries with the current strong economies are regulated. It's de-regulation that caused this... GREED. Greed is brough on when there are no rules and it's winner takes all. You let them fight for the scraps and they will do anything to save a buck including selling poison (look at Bayer and Maple Leaf Foods). It's either you get rid of Multi National Corporations or you stick to rules and regulations (in favor of SM Bus). Can't have it both ways.
It looks like its the trendy of the mainstream media in the U.S. to have big mouth anchors with empty heads

Corporations, Keep jobs here or you too will be out of business.
marinedr77 3 years ago
The foundation of any successful economy is based on the transformation of raw materials into a finished product. In the USA that is Manufacturing, Farming, Mining, etc. Everyone (even those on the left) need to realiz that without this foundation, there will be no one with money to pay doctors, lawyers, insurance agents, or any part of the retail industry. The news NEVER mentions this because those who own the news corporations know that VERY big business people get rich by outsourcing.
marinedr77 3 years ago
PLEASE notice that politicians always talk about "JOBS", but there are huge differences in the types of jobs that exist in a country. The health care industry for example is not creating any wealth in this country, sure there are good "jobs" there, but really the industry is robbing Americans blind. Now, America NEEDS the auto industry. Yes they have fallen behind and they have tons of room for improvement, but it simply can't die.
marinedr77 3 years ago
This bailout needs to happen for America, however we may need to let the big three "fail" on paper first before the bailout. If the unions can be killed, this would allow the auto makers to restructure and compete with Toyo and Honda (very respectable companies, I'm not dissing them). There need to be one HUGE stipulation to this bailout that I have not heard from any brainwashed news anchor or jackass politician. THE INVESTMENT IS TO BUILD JOBS IN AMERICA ONLY!!!!

Its the banks and the companies own faults if they go bancrupt. They are still producing cars of which the majority need WAY TOO MUCH fuel. They could build cars with about 3 liters on 100 miles. Or even electro cars or whatnot.

starclopsofish 3 years ago
Of course without decades of massive illicit cashflows and protectionist tarrifs and subsidies there'd be no auto industry in America to bail out in the first place.
momentinpassing 3 years ago
Oddly enough bailing out the auto industry makes more sense than buying worthless fraudulently created non-assets from banks and paying them to buy eachother up while they still refuse to lend money in a debt based monetary system of their design. I don't agree with it, but it is stricking that the bailout that actually has some reasonable arguments in it's favour, is less likely to go forward than the criminal coverup and compensation of bank fraudsters.
momentinpassing 3 years ago

Dr Paul is everywhere these days. He had time to talk and state some good points. He must be the most popular politician after Obama. He got to mention two major culprits for our economic problems. Lobbyists and the FED. I wish he'd put more emphasize on it though.
He should really take these numerous media opportunities to say that he might run for president again but leave it vague. At least the seed would be planted now and could better grow when watered at the right time.
rivieracar1992 3 years ago
He should forget about running for president and physically mobilize people to take action big and small locally. Band together with others in a common goal and get things done. Otherwise all his support and supporters will accomplish little to nothing in the grand scheme of things. Separatist attitude is not what is needed know it needs to be a cooperative effort of like minded people from the ground up. Needs a leader to initiate this. It's not going to come from Washington and never will.

"Globally friendly" and "Greener" It amazes me that there are some people who think that our biggest problems are that we're not environmentally friendly enough.
andreamirelez 3 years ago
It's a win win situation, Good for our economy and the environment. We need to get off oil. Period. The viable options have been sitting on the table collecting dust for 20 years and now the technology is better than cars burning oil/gas
damianpaonejazz 3 years ago
Yes technology is there and it is more eco- friendly and better for our wallets but my point was that that isn't what is causing them to fail. The overhead burdens of the UAW is a big thorn in it's side. They need to address the reasons why they ended where they are now. Also I am opposed to bailouts and forcing those who are bailed out to re-tool. I venture to say Ron Paul feels the same way. She sounds Socialist. Government shouldn't tell any business how to run it's operations.
andreamirelez 3 years ago
Yes but the full story is that its a toxic chemical of greed at the top and poor management as well as just a piece of shit product(s). They can easily produce more efficient cars and keep the price the same and they'd see windfall profits and a massive consumer interest but that's not good for everyone involved so they falter. They bailed out Chrysler in 1979 and profited from it but now they effed up again and have their hand out. RP is not the only person to feel this way and gvt is skewed
damianpaonejazz 3 years ago
You cannot back some things yet not others. Their should be a criteria and a way for the people to weigh in and have their voice heard equally as loud as those in congress on each issue. It is after all our money. Money that is spent for our benefit. Necessity should come first. What our rights our and what is needed. Everything else should further support this notion. If banks fail because they invest poorly then so be it. Car company so be it. The problem is the gvt has supported greed
damianpaonejazz 3 years ago
Those who care nothing for the health or well being of those which they serve. No matter the company/corp. In essence violating an agreement or trust. Making any contract void. They should suffer and bare the consequences of their actions. But how can this happen in gvt? What happens if the congress does this? Where do we turn to? Herein lies the real problem. We have police to enforce the law of the land. Gvt and Corp. law enforcement needs to be as rigorously enforced. How?

NO BAILOUT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should have been her intro.

Can somebody please explain to me why we're still protecting Japan for free under the terms we set after WW2? Japan has no military expenses (unlike us), so the Japanese government just pours all their money into research and development for companies like sony and toyota and then those companies run ten times more efficiently than American companies like Ford and GE because they receive tons of money from the Japanese government, then the Japanese companies put our companies out of business.WTF

cheekyfumes 3 years ago
There should not be a bailout, correct. But her opening statement is not the reason why. She's complaining how they refuse to go green and are stuck in the past. Not true at all. If the government regulations allowed and the people wanted, they would have been "green" in the 60's when they were looking at hydrogen. There should be no bailout because it's stealing money from the citizens to give it to companies with poor business practices. Let's take the $5T and divide it up among citizens
maelstrom07 3 years ago
There should be no bailout of the big three carmakers.
The proper answer is to let the market take its course.
These companies wont disappear. They will merge, downsize, sell off parts and so on. Whatever makes the most sense and is most efficient will happen.
When the government bails out corporations, it forces taxpayers to subsidize inefficiencies & bad decisions. It penalizes those who make good decisions by forcing them to subsidize the bad. Enough of Billionaire Bailout mania!

GM, Ford and our other automotive factories are part of the military industrial complex, our national security depends on the for possible wartime production of machinery. The government will never allow them to fully collapse and stop running. It is interesting in these days to see how they will continue to be propped up if they are not economically viable. But remain functional they must.
YHVH72 3 years ago
She talks about capitalism when she should be focused on free markets vs central planning. If I were on TV, talking about such things, I would read Keynes, and Hayek, and understand the fundamental principles of free markets vs central planning. Getting a bail out package is wrong no matter what, and a free market with free people spending sound money will allow the best products at the best prices to succeed. Let the market decide. Avoid price fixing, and support sound honest money!

Emotion? This has nothing to do with emotion, and everything to do with sound economics.
