Which is the case the song tells about, the treason of the gauls to the romans. The lyrics are written from the gauls point of view, who were betrayed by one of their own. So when they say "bereave me", it's more like instigating the enemy to do what they've been eager to do since the beginning: to deprive them from land and wealth.
