The shock wave in the water actually paralize many fishes. Even if a person is a few hundred meters from the blast, if he/she was standing in the water, they would be in great pain as the shock wave going through the water hits them. If they were close enough it can paralize or kill them.

ANFO is hard as hell to detonate. IMHO you'll need a booster for an efficient, reliable detonation. BTW peroxide is EXTREMELY unstable. I wouldn't screw with peroxides *or any HE (though ANFO is frustratingly stable) without pro experience. But if you're going to anyway-be sure to read Ragnar Benson's stuff first-pretty close approximation to military-grade caps. Much safer methods, IMO, also.

As long as no metal is in contact with the HMTD you'll be safe.. ( i have had electrical igniter in small HMTD caps, without any reaction on the metal, but why risk life and limb on something as little as that) and even some small reactions, like corroding on the metal isn't dangerous.

AP is too unstable, sensitive and can be useless after prolonged storage due to sublimation. Also, acetone peroxide on it's own it is not usually successful in detonating such an insensitive binary like ANFO, and Semtex and C4 is very powerful, therefore being useful in the initiation of it. The IRA used a lot of explosives in truck bomb, we're talking tons. You would need way too much AP for that amount of explosives. Plus, semtex and detonators were supplied from Liyba anyway :P
