That guy was not just talking to the police. He was being antagonistic, he was warned and then he got sprayed. Yestersday's protest also had its fair share of adolescents playing "chase me, chase me!" with the police. Unfortunately, a significant and vocal proportion of the crowd were 90% about gettinng their jollies off and 10% about Gaza. They undermine their own cause, which I am sympathetic about but such obviously juvenile behaviour is not going to win the hearts of the public.

if you look frame by frame (if you can, capture the stream and view it localy for greater time control) then toward the end of the fourth second in a demonstrator clearly reaches out toward a policeperson's face. presumably the speech just after ("keep your hands where ... "?) would have been the back away warning police are obliged to give. there was not enough time for the demonstrator to comply and back away after this warning. i am not impressed by the behaviour of either party.

Police have two different sprays, or at least there are two different sprays available, one which is to disperse crowds, where you spray it in the general area and a small bit goes into everyones faces, and one for self defence where you spray it into someones face if they are attacking someone or armed. This officer should have never sprayed it straight into this guys eyes.

you clearly don't know what you are talking about. the whole point of the captor/pava spray is to affect the eyes so the operator should be aiming for the eyes. if you aim anywhere else it would have no real effect, it doens't affect your breathing like CS does.

Why are you declaring what the officer should or should never be doing when you clearly have no knowledge of the spray itself or the relevant law and crowd control technique???

don't really care what you think, the protestor did enough make the officer think he was going to be hit and so was legally justified in giving that muppet a face full of spray. most resonable people would agree he asked for it, the fact you don't like it is irrelevant the use of force was legal.

Ah, but your video didnt show what happened when they first got in. I think we both know what happened. Those peaceful protesters when the police formed up moved to the back and those who were unwilling to move and those thatwanted to fight moved to the front. This is a point that we will never agree with.

Unfortunatly protest groups will alwys be infaltrated with violent trouble makers which actully bring negative press and make people not want to listen to your ethics. nature of the beast.

well firstly, remember that i was in no way an organiser of this. And im not actually part of the campaign. I went along to the march because i support the cause, however i have other causes which impact my life a lot more. Im sure if you look in my videos you'll see this.

Anyway, in response to the police question, you saw when we got in, people didnt know what to do. Its the conflict with the police that increases the anger and fighting power. You can clearly see that from when we got into EDO

Ah now animal welfare,that is a cause with huge support and multiple groups around the country. mostly peaceful folk. The Novartis protest was a good one, as when people started getting aggressive, you had people there trying to calm them down and stop them. that is the way to protest- with out all these people who just want to fight and cause damage. they do the causes no good. The 6 arms video particuly spoke to me BTW

That was good. although not really through town. along Lewes Road. and a few bikes in centre. while it was in the public gaze, it had a good carnival spirit for the most part. that is good for your publicity, however shouting "fuck the police" is not so good. you must relise what a negative impact that has on you protest.

I think the way forward is like a carnaval style protest/ fair. That would bring families in and give you plenty of oppertunity to get your point accross and have it heard.

i said if you actually watch it, as in watch it on here you will see that the man didnt hit him.

I edited about 10 seconds off the start of the video because otherwise it wouldnt fit and it was just me trying to get a better angle.

If you watch the other videos on here you see that the police were behind fencing which you protestor tore down and crated the situation. you or at least a part of the group were hell bent on provoking a reaction and when you got it, you complain that it was unjust.
