Ballydoyle got rid of Man of Iron shortly after this race. He's had no success at all for his current trainer, Luca Cumani. IMO, if he had been at his best in this race, Mastery would've won the B.C. Marathon. He's a 2-time G1 winner of the 09' G1 St Leger and the 10' G1 Hong Kong Vase. He's also won the G3 Floodlit Stakes at Kempton on the all-weather. Mastery is rarely ever out of the frame, and is very versatile on turf and synthetics.
