@migol1984 its interesting you say that reading their bible regularly is vital to a person's faith I will say to you straight and narrow no it is not.I will agree knowing the bible is vital to defend its context. But, faith is not something that comes out of a book and that is something many don't understand and I don't care to debate it at this moment.I was also not argueing with them I was denouncing the claim that a study that circulates out there is not 100% truth.
@2ravenf0x2 i'm really baffled at what exactly it is you are trying to get out of this pointless debate. yes, my friend. paul's message is flooded urging the believers to "increase in the knowledge of God". and james at another point says, "faith comes from hearing and hearing of the message." it's very vital for a christian to understand their faith... it goes hand in hand. to argue otherwise completely obliterates the point of even believing or being a christian altogether.
@migol1984 you are an interesting person I'll say that right off. It is vital to understand their faith it is not vital to read the bible in order to have or keep their faith. Faith and religion are two different things which seems to be a hard concept for many to grasp people think in order to have faith you have to be religious it is not so but again it is something that is like beatiing a dead horse nothing get accomplished on explaining it. You ask a Christian is faith and
@2ravenf0x2 well i agree with you on these points. yes, faith and religion is not synonymous and yes the point is to be like Christ. but where else are we gonna know how to be like Christ? i refer you to john 17:20 it should be an eye opener. if not, don't know what else is. as christians we're only digging into the ideas that paul, peter and co believed in, or as paul said it, searching the "inscrutable riches of Christ." we as christians haven't even scratched the surface on such topics.
@migol1984 religion is the same I believe many of them will tell you no its not. The definition of Christian is to be Christ like or in Christ likeness, following his teaches and obeying the Lord.
@2ravenf0x2 where's your last comment? it was in my inbox but i can't find it. there is overwhelmingly more evidence in the claim that christians know less about their own faith than most do, then there is to assume otherwise. and based on my own experiences i have no reason at all to doubt the evidence. and i'm even furthermore trying to understand why it bothers you if even you yourself say that it's not necessary to even read the bible, i.e. learn about their own faith.
@migol1984 not sure, but to let you understand something I'm not actually bothered by this nor am I argueing because that would require an actual emotional personal response, I am debating and trying to bring to light errors in a comment that I feel is in accurate. There is no person experience or belief that can be a base for a fact. Just because you experienced something, felt something, had personal feelings about something doesn't make it true. Thats the point you are not getting.
@2ravenf0x2 i think its you who misunderstood my point on "personal experience." i was only pointing the fact that based on personal experiences with the average christian, they're not too informed even on the basic issues the bible concerns itself with. i'm not speaking about some quasi emotional or mystical experience. at least, that's what i get out of the way your wording things. you're speaking about something entirely different.
@migol1984 You can say in my personal opinion I believe that these studies are true but that is neither truth or evidence of the fact it is the truth. Now I am sure there are many people who claim to know the bible and don't I am also sure there are probably many who do know the bible as well. But a book is not where the faith is, its a tool a guide towards a right path thats all. Only after this life will we probably find who was right and who was wrong.
@2ravenf0x2 sure if you wanna go with that argument go right ahead. i too see it as a guide, but its more than just looking at it two dimensionally and that's why a lot of people stop believing because they never allowed the message to become real in their lives. they only looked at it superficially. this is exactly why i speak strongly against this and why i urge you to dig into the ideas which i feel you're lacking. i mean it with an utmost sincere respect for you and the word of God.
@migol1984 I get tired of Athiests saying in polls and studies they know more about the Bible than Christians do when most of those who do were claiming to be raised as Christians so not to sound too silly but Duh. You wonder why they know more about the bible they were raised with it. I think there is a poll out there for that one too. I'm just saying its all a little silly.
@2ravenf0x2 i know what you mean. there are a number of atheists who are downright annoying and manipulative. but there are a good number of atheists who are sincere and have pointed out true things that are wrong on our side. and yes, like i've said there are polls that i wouldn't give much importance to but there is somewhat of an issue i feel we as christians should address. where is the bit about being like Christ who was "found with favor in the eyes of God and men?"
@Evangeline220 The difference is, EVERYONE will die, EVERYONE will have ETERNAL life and EVERYONE has CHOICE. The choice is to KNOW/BELIEVE God exsists, obey his messengers, do good deeds, pay charity etc. You will either end up in Hell or Heaven. As a Muslim we love Jesus (pbuh) as a messsenger of God, just like other messengers that were sent by God. Jesus NEVER died for our sins or to attain salvation, this has been attributed from paganism.
There was a study done in america (the most religious place on the planet) and it showed that the people who knew the most about the bible were in fact atheists or agnostics, not christians, which basically means the people that know the most about the bible think that it is a load of bollocks. It also showed that most christians are religious purely for the sake of it, even though they seemed to know absolutely nothing about christianity, or any other religion for that matter
@MJ63551 I haven't seen that study, but I believe you. I remember when I was first born again, that I was astonished how little my fellow church member knew. I was not raised Christian, so I started with no knowledge whatsoever. I read the Bible cover to cover and the New Testament repeatedly. Soon I surpassed "Christians" with years of Church in them. Not tryn to be prideful, jus the fact. It saddens me. I wonder if it's bcuz they are raised in church but not in Christ. I suppose
@MJ63551 yes, as a christian myself i can attest to that. it's one of the biggest contentions i've had with many of my fellow christians. still there's many christians out there who still believe and know more than atheists and agnostics. i'm astonished at how many atheists assume they know more than me and for the most part they don't. it doesn't make me holier. it just makes me wonder why atheists/agnostics would bother to refute what i believe without understanding the things i do.
@migol1984 Watch the atheist experience. Everyone on there is an atheist. The interesting thing is that he and all the others were all religious for over 20 odd years, to the point where one of them almost became a preacher. The chances are that he and all the others on there do know more about your own religion than you do. And the reason atheists and agnostics have such a problem with religion is because on the whole, it causes nothing but trouble
@MJ63551 i lived in austin for 13 years and knew folks who worked at the show. i even made friends with some of them and still am a fb friend of one of the guys that worked there. no, those folks don't know more than i do and the problem is because they view the bible one dimensionally and don't even bother to open their minds to other ways of looking at it. there's too much info to cover all in one sitting and the arguments are dumbed down a bit.
@MJ63551 but i agree on other issues that religion does cause so much problems. but you can't blindly blame any person of faith as there are many who are not at all at fault. or to put it as noam chomsky said it, it's too simplistic to even blame religion for all the evil in this world. or better yet, he said, "it's way too simplistic."
@MJ63551 overall, what boggles me the most is that i can agree politically with atheists, and agnostics. we could fundamentally agree on the same things but its strange that just because i hold firmly to a belief i'm looked down upon, sort of like the equivalence of a 3rd world superstitious simpleton who believes in fairies. it's beyond bordering insult. it's very personal when it gets to that point.
@migol1984 Considering you live in america, its actually the other way around, as in atheists and agnostics are looked down upon by religious people. In some cases people have even been disowned by their families and friends for not believing in god. But you are right that not all religious people are at fault, its just that there are people who become extremists and fundamentalists. And its for this reason that the world would be better off without religion
@MJ63551 its a reasonable and expected response. i agree that many people have been wronged for such reasons pertaining to cultures, beliefs or lack of them. but let's be clear, two wrongs don't make a right. so why repeat the process to someone with a different perspective on life? and its not a guarantee that this world would be better off without religion. this is only assumed. its been pointed out that atheist rulers have done great evil in this world just the same.
@MJ63551 but in order to avoid what i like to call a "dick measurement contest" let's just agree that it's reason that guides us to peace and understanding and so far i've tried to do my part in this tedious and long process.
@migol1984 I agree with you there, although I still believe that the world would be a better place without any religion, just like you probably still think its a better place with it, so lets just agree to disagree there. But I do agree with what you've said on the whole
@MJ63551 i know its assumed that my faith is a religion. but i actually don't think of it in those terms. i know i'm opening a can of worms, but i actually agree that the world would be better off without religion. truth is, i like this guy jesus. and religion was another thing he too wanted to get rid of. constantine did a great wrong when he involved jesus' ideas into politics. that's where i think you and i fundamentally agree on, that religion should just get away from politics altogether.
@MJ63551 the only problem is that i feel politics doesn't wanna keep its tabs off of religion because its an easy way of controlling the populations. so its like two things made for each other almost, they both feed off of each other. i dunno why it works that way... maybe its just a gene in our brains that make us function that way and it has worked that way through evolutionary process in order to sustain some form of survival. just a thought.
@MJ63551 care to post this study or did you hear it from a friend of a friend kind of thing? Also, remember a point about studies they are created by their makers to prove a point regardless to actual facts to support them.
@2ravenf0x2 It was on one of the american news channels last year, the kind of one which is usually biased towards religion. Btw there are two comments just below your original comment who are christians who both agree with me, so it is legit
@MJ63551 oh no question it is a legit study I'm sure but I take it you never was taught in college about how polls and studies actually work did you? It's okay not all people do but I did and I learned that polls and studies are very bias. The creators of those make sure that they normally add up to be in their favor to prove a point. But, what I say can be bais because the people have have been around for the last 4 years know the bible in and out so my region is an acception than.
@2ravenf0x2 and you may be right that polls conducted can be a bit biased and not very trustworthy but that doesn't mean that you need a poll to find out for yourself that the majority of christians really don't know squat. this is first hand experience on my part. my problem with some studies are the tougher ones that are actually conducted by psychologists. my problem is that i've never been involved in the thousands of them conducted. so its annoying that people will use against me.
@migol1984 and you are agreeing to that exact point. You can't say with out doubt that majority of Christians don't know squat. You are claiming this and saying it as a fact or truth with only polls and studies which you and I already know are not 100% accurate and your own personal experiences which can not be taken in as fact b/c they do not count so, many athiests tell me that about my belief in God. So by that what do you have? Answer nothing!
@MJ63551 the only reason I bring up this point is that I must live in a region where most of the people of that study who know the bible who are Christians must live.
It is a possibility that there exists a greater population of Bible literate atheists than there are Christians in America, but that doesn't mean the most knowledgeable atheists know more than the most knowledgeable Christians. And then there are the questions of how was this study done? What was the sample size? What was the basis for how they determined whether someone's knowledge?
I have just finished Leviticus. Holy shit this god character has emotional problems. What kind of a being wants to be worshipped all the time and turns an innocent lady into a pillar of salt? Let alone his opinions on slavery and destroying cities with sulphur from the sky. He is the most evil character in history!
Im a Muslim, We believe in Jesus (pbuh) as one of the mightiest of messengers (including others) to be sent by God on this earth. About the Q&A, Ravi did not actually argue the point. There are very few Christian lawed countries if none at all compared, to a Muslim Sharia Lawed country. Its very hard to apply Biblical law to this day and age, compared to shari'ah, which has a dramatic effect on CRIMINAL Law.The only difference between Islam and Christianity-Jesus is a prophet not SonofGod.
@raydaking12345 That "only difference" determines where you will spend eternity. That "only difference" is the same difference as satan and evil vs God and perfection. Jesus Christ died for your sins, He arose, He appeared to over 500 witnesses, all at the same time, He ascended into heaven. He is calling to you to repent and accept Him as your Savior. He did all of this because He loves you.
Hell would be being forced to endlessly worship and asslick some imaginary egotistical lunatic with a very brittle ego and a violent streak a mile wide, who appears to think that murdering infants and women is a daily routine task bewtween bouts of being worshipped. I'll take the imaginary flames any day thank you.
@peace000000000000 I'm arrogant? coming from a person who believes they're the sole purpose of the universe, and that every single magnificent thing that exists, exists in their name? someone who believes they are granted access to a celestial perfect realm because of what they believe whilst all others are damned to hell? Yeah.. I'm the arrogant one
@slipknotbmth Again, you've exhibited signs of pure arrogance. In fact, the funny thing is you don't even know what I'm talking about so I suggest you stop making stupid assumptions about my beliefs.
@slipknotbmth You have the wrong idea about Christianity. Jesus died for sinners because no sinner could justify and redeem themselves. Christians are beggars showing other beggars where fresh bread is. There is no room for conceited pride in Christianity because none has earned their own salvation, it is a free gift.
@peace000000000000 I wouldn't bother with slipknotbmth, at least, that is, if he is some sort of materialist/atheist/agnostic. When someone has a soul as dissolute as na individual on the road to perdition has, not knowing where they came from or where they are ultimately going--aside from a grave--how could they be arrogant?
@hiinEnkelte The tone in which he/she expresses his/her opinion is displayed in a way that makes the reader feel he is overbearingly proud and somewhat superior to everyone else, because he's supposedly "free" and "godless". That's what I mean by arrogant.
The problem with Islam is that the followers believe that Abraham's son promised by God was Ismael.. but that's NOT true.. Its Isaac and thru that line Jesus was born as man...
FOR ALL WHO TRY TO ATTACK ANOTHER GROUPS RELIGION PLEASE UNDERSTAND YOU DO NOT STAND ON BASIS TO DO SO. EVERYTHING YOU SEE WRONG IN THE PEOPLE OF THE RELIGION OF ISLAM YOU WILL FIND THE SAME IN YOURS. LOOK BACK AND FIND THE TRANSGRESSOR. THEN SPEAK.
@blakymoe There are hugh differences between being a muslim and being a born again Christian. Mo did not die for anyone. He was not all loving. His grave is not empty. He is in hell. Jesus is God. He died on a cross. He arose 3 days later, and is now sitting at the right hand of the Father. No one can earn his way to heaven. The only people who are going to heaven are those who trust Christ for salvation (and children who die before the age of accountability)
@Evangeline220 Where do you have the evidence that all of this happened? I take it you dont have any, just like every other christian? Btw, according to scripture from around that time, people arising from the dead was apparently a normal occurrence, so what makes jesus so special?
Blessed of the Lord is Ravi Zacharias! Thank you for representing the Kingdom of our Father and Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you for clearly explaining that the act of sin begins with a thought. Jesus showed us the root of the law. God Bless you Brother!
god be mercifull to me a sinner , Jesus Christ save me .I believe you died and shed your blood on the cross to pay for my sins u were burried and rose again bodily on the 3rd day and took you blood to heaven
Blair or, thank you for explaining that so clearly. I never knew how Islamic atonement worked. We simply come to Jesus. He adopted us into His family and we are expected to act like it. Admittedly some don't.
This man plays with words. to say that commit adultery in the heart does not mean it is the same as the physical act. the Prophet PBUH said and Allah forgive me if this is not entirely correct. If a man thinks about sinning it is not counted against him and if does sin and repents then the deed is wiped clean, but if he thinks to sin and obstains then he is rewarded with a good deed.
@blakymoe But actions must first begin with thoughts. The occurance of a lustful thought is temptation. The wilful entertainment of a lustful thought is a sin against chastity as it demeans the idea of the sanctity of the sexual act in Creation, and the acting on that lustful thought is an actual (as in an "act" is involved) sin that follows from the demeaning thoughts.
Do not confuse temptation for sin. It's a fine line, but very distinct with the eyes of faith. God Bless.
@lawwellsy I have not confused temptation for sin. the statement brings to light that there is no sin in temptation but in the act. let me explain if a married man sees an attractive half dressed woman in public which is common these days, something comes to mind depending on which part of her is accented. Now, if he lowers his gaze then he will be rewarded, but if continue to stare and entertains thoughts of having sex with her there is a sin in that but if repents the sin is cleared
@blakymoe That last statement is for caution - a lot of people love to confuse the two on this one. And if you want some more on it, I suggest having a look at JP2's Love and Responsibility and Theology of the Body.
Just one question - how does a sinner in Islam know he is forgiven? God owes neither of us a thing, but while I as a Catholic have an assurance from Him that in Reconciliation I am forgiven, I'd like to know how Muslims can get a similar assurance. PM me your answer.
Here are words inspired by words from Dr. Zakir Naik.
Fascinating that when 19 Muslims slaughter 3,300 people in USA it means we're to make all living Muslims a political voice in USA so they'll solve our problems.
It's also fascinating that if a Muslim man desires to disgrace his wife he has so many levels of degrading her thanks to his high standing in the community till finally he is beating the shit out of her in all places that can't be viewed by a full body Hijab.
@ReligionOfSacrifice you have to be joking. you really want to compare atrocities between muslims and christians should i list them? Maybe i should assume you already know you just turn a blind eye because they are washed in the blood of christ. Christians are just glorified Hypocrites!!!!
In less than 100 yrs from death of Muhammed, Islam by killing people had overrun Turkey, Pakistan, Middle East, Jerusalem, north Africa, Spain, & was halfway to Paris when French men expelled them from France & from Jerusalem later.
Spanish Inquisition was in response to Muslim in Spain crucifying the Jewish vizier of Granada in 1066 A.D. & slaughtering 4,000 Jews in the same city that same day. Thousands of more Jews were killed throughout Spain that year.
@ReligionOfSacrifice did you know Hitler was a christian? the crusades slaughtered more jews muslims and Christians (who did not believe in the trinity) than any other religion. Christianity has overrun the whole world bible in one hand gun in the other. try looking up the dark ages. The Muslims did more for those Regions than any christian rule. War is War. and try to see past that lop sided Euro supremacy White Jesus History you've been fed all your life. LITTLE GIRL.
The difference is that Christianity doesn't encourage killing others; quite the contrary! Islam, on the other hand, states many times, in no uncertain terms, that they are to fight non-believers, kill those who leave Islam, impose Sharia Law, etc.
@blakymoe : The cult of islam is not the religion of sacrifice - in fact, as I prefaced this communication, islam is a cult. You can be assured that islam is a stench in the nostrils of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
@pmoyer50 Cult of Christianity worships a man murdered on a cross and the cross he was murdered on as they pray in front of him as an IDOL while either chanting or screaming, talking in tongue and falling out and doing back flips. Protecting themselves with demon statues and erecting pagan artifact and incorporating pagan symbols all over your places of worship. I Guess we all stink then.
@blakymoe Your are talking about the pagan Catholic Church not true Christianity for example I dont worship an image or a cross i dont pray to Mary and for me the Pope has no autority over me.
@SonofJaphet Wow way to insult the oldest western institution and all the Catholic Christians--some of who, like myself, in fact left "true Christianity" (this must be your definition of your own denomination of Protestantism) for the "pagan" Catholic Church, so they could be closer to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I pray that Jesus may correct your poor understanding of the Church He founded. God bless.
@hiinEnkelte I dont insult this institution i denounce it as Satanic.or the Mother of Harlots, the Great Prostitute, who sits on seven mountains (Rome sits on seven mountains) .The Catholic Church was founded by Constantine who synthetized Pagan religion with Christianity and make it the State Religion
@blakymoe No, No, my friend you have it all wrong; you see we who believe and are truly born-again worship the only one true God, and his name is Jesus, and he sits on a throne with his father. One day and soon he is coming again to rule and reign upon this world as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. So we do not bow before any IDOL, but we bow before our KING!
@blakymoe You have completely revised history to prove a falsehood. The only thing islam has accomplished is fear, death, enslavement of women and of those who will not bow down to their evil idol.
With as anoying as they are when they are unfed, they become much more so once you feed them. Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
@inf0dump "Do you even know what the bible verse means?" It was a joke. Get into an argument with the trolls and soon you will be defending your faith to someone who doesn't believe in the first place (apply the verse jokingly in that context) Yes I know what the verse actually means in context of where and why it is written.
Always on the defensive, there are many sects in Islam too but what RAVI fail to tell his people is, unlike christianinty ALL sects in ISLAM believe in the main FOUNDAMENENTAL teachings of the the FAITH that is, the 5 pillars... the most Importance of all is the KALIMA OR SAHADDA (our building survive forever because the foundation is very strong).
I have yet to see a muslim being wise in any sense. Sure they like their great supporters in the west, the left wing fools amongst us, can twist words, tell great lies and manipulate so that satan's wish's are fulfilled as he intended but, at the end the day, their knowledge is lies, manipulations, stolen information, twist to fit satan's needs and garbage like their belief system as a whole. The left wingers are the same way in the west with their foolishness.
It's fascinating that when 19 Muslims slaughter 3,300 people in the USA it means we're to make all living Muslims a political voice in the USA so they'll solve our problems.
It's also fascinating that if a Muslim man desires to disgrace his wife he has so many levels of degrading her thanks to his high standing in the community till finally he is beating the shit out of her in all places that can't be viewed by a full body Hijab.
muslims shouldnt even challage christians cause thers no room for muslims to talk at all period cause ther prophet killed rape molested lied stoled. period
@seeuther2012 Do you know that Christianity is correct? The world around us reveals that G-d DOES exist, and the historical evidence reveals that Jesus Christ really did come to this earth and there is overwhelming evidence that Jesus Christ really did physically rise from the dead. Jesus is coming again and the signs of the end times that were foretold in the Bible are coming to pass.
Jesus established a spiritual kingdom, those who enter in do so in spirit not in law keeping, Jesus described a way of living that was completely beyond the ability of carnal man and law to keep. Only those born of the spirit and walking apart from the flesh can comprehend or abide the law of Christ which truly is a law of love, not the carnal, fallen, fleshly, 'please me and I'll love you' kind of love. But the pure love of God.
I heard this episode yesterday on the Radio. I wished God Almighty would grant me the wisdom to explain to Muslim's and other's the Gospel of Jesus the Christ. Instead of the way that i currently do it which is NOT the way that should be done.
@BornAAgain: Oh yes, I can imagine. I've been to a few Islamic countries most have the same attitudes. I have met one Muslim family though that was really decent. But I think him and his family would be considered radically liberal in the Islamic world.
I doubt this Muslims guy would ever be able to see a debate like that in a Muslim country....that is enough to prove and to show what Islam is..a cult of fear and threat...There are good Muslims..but those are being BAD Muslims in relationship to what the KOran tells them to do...
"UNITY does not mean necessarily UNIFORMITY"...The MUSLIM should have changed his religion right there...CHRISTIANISM served as a foundation of the WEST and our freedoms of today...Christ was a pure and honest hearted being....Mohhamed was a crazy warrior....the evidence is all out there....
@HetaliaHitachiin LMAO as funny as that comment was I have to remind you that I have just as much of a right to comment on this video as anyone else. I do not have a "side" of youtube and if I did then it's definitely the religion related videos because I watch them more than anything else.
" ...if I did then it's definitely the religion related videos because I watch them more than anything else." And yet you make a comment with no real point but to, basically, upset others. Hmmmm, could you be a frilly troll of sorts?
@sweetlolitacookies I don't care that much because you're comment isn't even clever or based on anything. My mistake is trying to get you to go watch a make-up tutorial...
All have sinned ie lied, stolen, blasphemed, lusted, hated, coveted, etc and greatly offended the holy righteous just truine God of the bible. The just punishment is death then hell. Thats not Gods will. He became a man suffered and died on the cross paying for the law you broke in His lifes blood now He can legally dismiss your case. you must repent turn from sin and trust alone in Jesus Christ for your salvation.
JESUS CHRIST, HIS CATHOLIC-UNIVERSAL-APOSTOLIC CHURCH, SACRAMENTS, THE BIBLE, MIRACLES, HEALINGS, ST. MARY APPARITIONS, MESSAGES FROM HEAVEN, SIGNS IN 2011 ARE NOT A MYTHOLOGY BUT THE REALITY !!!
@KamekoBruns...way to go, you've accomplished the wondrous task of twisting scripture...what Christ says in Luke 14:26 is that if you would much rather have a closer fellowship with "man" than with God then you therefore cannot be a disciple of Christ'. It does not mean that you should hate your parents...English translation.
Then how do you explain the origin of Christianity, if Christ didn't say ANYTHING? How do we have accounts of historians talking about this "Cristo" who claimed to be the Son of God? Where did Matthew, Mark, and John come from?
Furthermore, even if we were to grant that Luke was written anonymously (which is not true), how does that prove that Jesus didn't say anything, especially with the existence of the other books? How are they invalid if only Luke is "invalid"?
@BassP86 the gospels are not cohesive and the fact is noone is sure who wrote any of the gospels becuase we dont have the originals. jesus never wrote a word. he might have said a lot but the words that he supposedly said that are portrayed in the gospels quite often are contradictory and ambigious. it is likely that most that seem uncharacterisitc are inventions by the author. i know of only two sources that say anything historically about jesus.
"we dont have the originals." - Okay, we'll grant that for the sake of argument. If we don't have the originals, then that assumes that there are originals, thereby allowing us to know who wrote, correct? Secondly, if these gospels which we have are not the originals, then where are the originals?
@BassP86 there is no argument about not having the original manuscripts it is fact. the significance in not having the originals is that how will we ever know that the later manuscripts were even close to the originals? its called common sense. so deductively when you parallel the gospels and they seem inconsistent and not cohesive (which was my main point you failed to acknowledge) then its likely due to many influences and additions from those who wanted to beef up the myth.

2ravenf0x2 2 days ago
@2ravenf0x2 i think its you who misunderstood my point on "personal experience." i was only pointing the fact that based on personal experiences with the average christian, they're not too informed even on the basic issues the bible concerns itself with. i'm not speaking about some quasi emotional or mystical experience. at least, that's what i get out of the way your wording things. you're speaking about something entirely different.
migol1984 2 days ago
@migol1984 You can say in my personal opinion I believe that these studies are true but that is neither truth or evidence of the fact it is the truth. Now I am sure there are many people who claim to know the bible and don't I am also sure there are probably many who do know the bible as well. But a book is not where the faith is, its a tool a guide towards a right path thats all. Only after this life will we probably find who was right and who was wrong.
2ravenf0x2 2 days ago
@2ravenf0x2 sure if you wanna go with that argument go right ahead. i too see it as a guide, but its more than just looking at it two dimensionally and that's why a lot of people stop believing because they never allowed the message to become real in their lives. they only looked at it superficially. this is exactly why i speak strongly against this and why i urge you to dig into the ideas which i feel you're lacking. i mean it with an utmost sincere respect for you and the word of God.
migol1984 2 days ago
@migol1984 I get tired of Athiests saying in polls and studies they know more about the Bible than Christians do when most of those who do were claiming to be raised as Christians so not to sound too silly but Duh. You wonder why they know more about the bible they were raised with it. I think there is a poll out there for that one too. I'm just saying its all a little silly.
2ravenf0x2 2 days ago
@2ravenf0x2 oh and that one was a personal opinion not a debate more of an argument
2ravenf0x2 2 days ago

Islam does indeed want to take over things, but will they rule well.
Why does Muhammed praise Sabeans in Quran
or writes this in Quran Surah 21 Al-Anbiya 83 & 95:
"Remember therefore Job who cried to his Lord, stress has seized me, be most merciful to those who are merciful."
"But there is a ban on any population we have destroyed. No restoration."
It's obvious that Islam is all about hate towards Jews & Christians & with above quote even righteous Job. Bible knew it though in Job 1:15.

MJ63551 1 week ago
@MJ63551 I haven't seen that study, but I believe you. I remember when I was first born again, that I was astonished how little my fellow church member knew. I was not raised Christian, so I started with no knowledge whatsoever. I read the Bible cover to cover and the New Testament repeatedly. Soon I surpassed "Christians" with years of Church in them. Not tryn to be prideful, jus the fact. It saddens me. I wonder if it's bcuz they are raised in church but not in Christ. I suppose
fletchdrebon 1 week ago
@MJ63551 yes, as a christian myself i can attest to that. it's one of the biggest contentions i've had with many of my fellow christians. still there's many christians out there who still believe and know more than atheists and agnostics. i'm astonished at how many atheists assume they know more than me and for the most part they don't. it doesn't make me holier. it just makes me wonder why atheists/agnostics would bother to refute what i believe without understanding the things i do.
migol1984 1 week ago
@migol1984 Watch the atheist experience. Everyone on there is an atheist. The interesting thing is that he and all the others were all religious for over 20 odd years, to the point where one of them almost became a preacher. The chances are that he and all the others on there do know more about your own religion than you do. And the reason atheists and agnostics have such a problem with religion is because on the whole, it causes nothing but trouble
MJ63551 2 days ago
@MJ63551 i lived in austin for 13 years and knew folks who worked at the show. i even made friends with some of them and still am a fb friend of one of the guys that worked there. no, those folks don't know more than i do and the problem is because they view the bible one dimensionally and don't even bother to open their minds to other ways of looking at it. there's too much info to cover all in one sitting and the arguments are dumbed down a bit.
migol1984 2 days ago
@MJ63551 but i agree on other issues that religion does cause so much problems. but you can't blindly blame any person of faith as there are many who are not at all at fault. or to put it as noam chomsky said it, it's too simplistic to even blame religion for all the evil in this world. or better yet, he said, "it's way too simplistic."
migol1984 2 days ago
@MJ63551 overall, what boggles me the most is that i can agree politically with atheists, and agnostics. we could fundamentally agree on the same things but its strange that just because i hold firmly to a belief i'm looked down upon, sort of like the equivalence of a 3rd world superstitious simpleton who believes in fairies. it's beyond bordering insult. it's very personal when it gets to that point.
migol1984 2 days ago
@migol1984 Considering you live in america, its actually the other way around, as in atheists and agnostics are looked down upon by religious people. In some cases people have even been disowned by their families and friends for not believing in god. But you are right that not all religious people are at fault, its just that there are people who become extremists and fundamentalists. And its for this reason that the world would be better off without religion
MJ63551 2 days ago
@MJ63551 its a reasonable and expected response. i agree that many people have been wronged for such reasons pertaining to cultures, beliefs or lack of them. but let's be clear, two wrongs don't make a right. so why repeat the process to someone with a different perspective on life? and its not a guarantee that this world would be better off without religion. this is only assumed. its been pointed out that atheist rulers have done great evil in this world just the same.
migol1984 2 days ago
@MJ63551 but in order to avoid what i like to call a "dick measurement contest" let's just agree that it's reason that guides us to peace and understanding and so far i've tried to do my part in this tedious and long process.
migol1984 2 days ago
@migol1984 I agree with you there, although I still believe that the world would be a better place without any religion, just like you probably still think its a better place with it, so lets just agree to disagree there. But I do agree with what you've said on the whole
MJ63551 2 days ago
@MJ63551 i know its assumed that my faith is a religion. but i actually don't think of it in those terms. i know i'm opening a can of worms, but i actually agree that the world would be better off without religion. truth is, i like this guy jesus. and religion was another thing he too wanted to get rid of. constantine did a great wrong when he involved jesus' ideas into politics. that's where i think you and i fundamentally agree on, that religion should just get away from politics altogether.
migol1984 2 days ago
@MJ63551 the only problem is that i feel politics doesn't wanna keep its tabs off of religion because its an easy way of controlling the populations. so its like two things made for each other almost, they both feed off of each other. i dunno why it works that way... maybe its just a gene in our brains that make us function that way and it has worked that way through evolutionary process in order to sustain some form of survival. just a thought.
migol1984 2 days ago
@MJ63551 care to post this study or did you hear it from a friend of a friend kind of thing? Also, remember a point about studies they are created by their makers to prove a point regardless to actual facts to support them.
2ravenf0x2 1 week ago
@2ravenf0x2 It was on one of the american news channels last year, the kind of one which is usually biased towards religion. Btw there are two comments just below your original comment who are christians who both agree with me, so it is legit
MJ63551 2 days ago
@MJ63551 oh no question it is a legit study I'm sure but I take it you never was taught in college about how polls and studies actually work did you? It's okay not all people do but I did and I learned that polls and studies are very bias. The creators of those make sure that they normally add up to be in their favor to prove a point. But, what I say can be bais because the people have have been around for the last 4 years know the bible in and out so my region is an acception than.
2ravenf0x2 2 days ago

2ravenf0x2 2 days ago
@MJ63551 the only reason I bring up this point is that I must live in a region where most of the people of that study who know the bible who are Christians must live.
2ravenf0x2 1 week ago
It is a possibility that there exists a greater population of Bible literate atheists than there are Christians in America, but that doesn't mean the most knowledgeable atheists know more than the most knowledgeable Christians. And then there are the questions of how was this study done? What was the sample size? What was the basis for how they determined whether someone's knowledge?

There are very few Christian lawed countries if none at all compared, to a Muslim Sharia Lawed country. Its very hard to apply Biblical law to this day and age, compared to shari'ah, which has a dramatic effect on CRIMINAL Law.The only difference between Islam and Christianity-Jesus is a prophet not SonofGod.
raydaking12345 2 weeks ago
@raydaking12345 That "only difference" determines where you will spend eternity. That "only difference" is the same difference as satan and evil vs God and perfection. Jesus Christ died for your sins, He arose, He appeared to over 500 witnesses, all at the same time, He ascended into heaven. He is calling to you to repent and accept Him as your Savior. He did all of this because He loves you.

This man plays with words. to say that commit adultery in the heart does not mean it is the same as the physical act. the Prophet PBUH said and Allah forgive me if this is not entirely correct. If a man thinks about sinning it is not counted against him and if does sin and repents then the deed is wiped clean, but if he thinks to sin and obstains then he is rewarded with a good deed.
blakymoe 1 month ago
@blakymoe But actions must first begin with thoughts. The occurance of a lustful thought is temptation. The wilful entertainment of a lustful thought is a sin against chastity as it demeans the idea of the sanctity of the sexual act in Creation, and the acting on that lustful thought is an actual (as in an "act" is involved) sin that follows from the demeaning thoughts.
Do not confuse temptation for sin. It's a fine line, but very distinct with the eyes of faith. God Bless.
lawwellsy 1 month ago
@lawwellsy I have not confused temptation for sin. the statement brings to light that there is no sin in temptation but in the act. let me explain if a married man sees an attractive half dressed woman in public which is common these days, something comes to mind depending on which part of her is accented. Now, if he lowers his gaze then he will be rewarded, but if continue to stare and entertains thoughts of having sex with her there is a sin in that but if repents the sin is cleared
blakymoe 1 month ago
@blakymoe That last statement is for caution - a lot of people love to confuse the two on this one. And if you want some more on it, I suggest having a look at JP2's Love and Responsibility and Theology of the Body.
Just one question - how does a sinner in Islam know he is forgiven? God owes neither of us a thing, but while I as a Catholic have an assurance from Him that in Reconciliation I am forgiven, I'd like to know how Muslims can get a similar assurance. PM me your answer.

BornAAgain 1 month ago
@BornAAgain: Oh yes, I can imagine. I've been to a few Islamic countries most have the same attitudes. I have met one Muslim family though that was really decent. But I think him and his family would be considered radically liberal in the Islamic world.
brennan2185 1 month ago
I doubt this Muslims guy would ever be able to see a debate like that in a Muslim country....that is enough to prove and to show what Islam is..a cult of fear and threat...There are good Muslims..but those are being BAD Muslims in relationship to what the KOran tells them to do...
BetuliaLiberata 2 months ago
"UNITY does not mean necessarily UNIFORMITY"...The MUSLIM should have changed his religion right there...CHRISTIANISM served as a foundation of the WEST and our freedoms of today...Christ was a pure and honest hearted being....Mohhamed was a crazy warrior....the evidence is all out there....

@sweetlolitacookies Get back to YOUR side of youtube, Loli. We need not your input or petticoat here.

@HetaliaHitachiin LMAO as funny as that comment was I have to remind you that I have just as much of a right to comment on this video as anyone else. I do not have a "side" of youtube and if I did then it's definitely the religion related videos because I watch them more than anything else.
sweetlolitacookies 2 months ago
@sweetlolitacookies Woman, I'm aware of your rights!
" ...if I did then it's definitely the religion related videos because I watch them more than anything else." And yet you make a comment with no real point but to, basically, upset others. Hmmmm, could you be a frilly troll of sorts?
HetaliaHitachiin 2 months ago
@HetaliaHitachiin Or maybe just someone expressing her opinion?

@sweetlolitacookies An opinion irrelevant to the main subject of this particular video.

@HetaliaHitachiin Ok it's getting kind of funny how you care so much.
People on youtube post comments you don't agree with sometimes, time to get over it :) Have a nice day!

He became a man suffered and died on the cross paying for the law you broke in His lifes blood now He can legally dismiss your case. you must repent turn from sin and trust alone in Jesus Christ for your salvation.

oh well, people use plants in public debates to augment their worth.
Epic Fail!
glower125 2 months ago
@KamekoBruns...way to go, you've accomplished the wondrous task of twisting scripture...what Christ says in Luke 14:26 is that if you would much rather have a closer fellowship with "man" than with God then you therefore cannot be a disciple of Christ'. It does not mean that you should hate your parents...English translation.
sshltn 2 months ago 9
@sshltn Umm...Christ didn't say anything. Luke was written by an anonymous source 40-80 years after the supposed death of Christ.
jordaniac89 2 months ago
@jordaniac89
BassP86 1 month ago
@BassP86 the gospels are not cohesive and the fact is noone is sure who wrote any of the gospels becuase we dont have the originals. jesus never wrote a word. he might have said a lot but the words that he supposedly said that are portrayed in the gospels quite often are contradictory and ambigious. it is likely that most that seem uncharacterisitc are inventions by the author. i know of only two sources that say anything historically about jesus.
ttone2379 1 month ago
@ttone2379
"we dont have the originals." - Okay, we'll grant that for the sake of argument. If we don't have the originals, then that assumes that there are originals, thereby allowing us to know who wrote, correct? Secondly, if these gospels which we have are not the originals, then where are the originals?
BassP86 1 month ago
@BassP86 there is no argument about not having the original manuscripts it is fact. the significance in not having the originals is that how will we ever know that the later manuscripts were even close to the originals? its called common sense. so deductively when you parallel the gospels and they seem inconsistent and not cohesive (which was my main point you failed to acknowledge) then its likely due to many influences and additions from those who wanted to beef up the myth.
