@dandrewg The reason Dana and a lot of people bitch about the commission, is because MMA is very, very different than boxing, and the judges have no fucking idea what they're doing when they judge fights and manage the rules of this sport. It's a huge problem, and needs to be fixed, and Dana as well as every fan out there has a right to bitch about it. There is even an issue with the validity and accuracy of drug tests. People who were + were actually - and vice versa, it's insanity.
@xilix I agree with you on several points... mainly that MMA is very different than boxing.... and that there is an issue with drug tests, validity and even bribery at certain levels....however, saying the judges don't really know what they are talking about.... that saying can be said about any sport with judges... thats a matter of opinion...
@xilix shortly after the UFC debut under the Gracie management, they implemented judges, especially after the (either shamrock vs gracie or severn vs gracie) fight. The same type of scorecard and way to judge bouts are implemented today, yet the gracie management didn't whine about it.
Now getting back at the issue at hand, its not the judges that Dana is complaining about... its the government... its quite simple...
@xilix the government likes to regulates things... that's what they do... they always have... even in the early stages of MMA... so for Dana to be complaining about it, is very.... redundant (for lack of a better word) and unneccessary... for them to say sonnen was on some sort of enhancing drug, thats really up to them and the testing... every sport goes through it.... its a shame they don't test all sports stars as hard as they test olympic athlethes.

One of the highest rated comments on here says Chael Sonnen is the Jon Fitch of 185? What's wrong with that Fitch is a winner, and a grinder. Sonnen may have been on PED's but he is the most exciting wrestler in the UFC. By that I mean the most exciting ground and pound guy. Sean Sherk, Stephan Bonnar, Chris leben etc even Vitor Belfort has failed a drugs test, Sonnen should get a second chance too.
Let me also point out that Sonnen is not the only culprit here. He's just one of those who was caught. There are Many fighters still juicing. I read an article where a prominent fighter alleged that in his opinion, 50-65% of MMA fighters juice big time. Guys like GSP, Sean Sherk, Cheick Kong, Mir, Lesnar spring to mind. GSP is pretty ripped all year around and he doesn't get injured very often. At the end of the day the risk of worth the reward for these fighters.

However, it also depends on the body of the individual taking the juice. It depends on how it reacts to the juice. First, you can get ripped without steroids and stay ripped so long as you work out constantly and eat a lot, i know ppl who've done it, its not that hard...
Second, people who EXERCISE in general are less prone to injury because through exercising you build up muscles and strengthen cartilage in your joints, simply juicing isn't going to help.
Third, one pro fighter who says everyone else is juicing isn't really a reliable source. Ppl say that shit out of envy all the time

The truth is nearly every UFC and MMA fighter takes roids and Dana knows it. Why not? MMA fighters only have their blood tested, there are certain roids that can only be picked up in urine so if they took these how would they be caught? On top of this you have Human Growth Hormone, HGH is extremely hard to detect and often can only be found a day after use... it's very hard to catch roiders in MMA!

Meaning I think he'll get another chance at Silva soon enough, but i think he will lose but in a more convincing fashion. He is definitely a contender and a solid fighter, but when you say one of the best, that to me is rarified air.

@dandrewg The reason Dana and a lot of people bitch about the commission, is because MMA is very, very different than boxing, and the judges have no fucking idea what they're doing when they judge fights and manage the rules of this sport. It's a huge problem, and needs to be fixed, and Dana as well as every fan out there has a right to bitch about it. There is even an issue with the validity and accuracy of drug tests. People who were + were actually - and vice versa, it's insanity.

@xilix I agree with you on several points... mainly that MMA is very different than boxing.... and that there is an issue with drug tests, validity and even bribery at certain levels....however, saying the judges don't really know what they are talking about.... that saying can be said about any sport with judges... thats a matter of opinion...

@xilix shortly after the UFC debut under the Gracie management, they implemented judges, especially after the (either shamrock vs gracie or severn vs gracie) fight. The same type of scorecard and way to judge bouts are implemented today, yet the gracie management didn't whine about it.
Now getting back at the issue at hand, its not the judges that Dana is complaining about... its the government... its quite simple...

@xilix the government likes to regulates things... that's what they do... they always have... even in the early stages of MMA... so for Dana to be complaining about it, is very.... redundant (for lack of a better word) and unneccessary... for them to say sonnen was on some sort of enhancing drug, thats really up to them and the testing... every sport goes through it.... its a shame they don't test all sports stars as hard as they test olympic athlethes.

In order for his HRT (hormone replacement therapy) claim to be a serious one his levels must be in the area of a normal man, as with HRT the doctor is getting the patient back to a normal level of testosterone not a bodybuilding level ten times the normal human level.

What Dana White is saying is that "it doesn't work that way" if he also, would suspend the fighters for using PED's. Yeah, he's pretty right about that I'd say. But "it doesn't work that way" neither when it comes to using PED's in sports. @joel2ksweet haha yes. it has. a couple weeks ago, he has a disorder where he cant make enough testosterone , and he has a prescription to keep his levels up, which is why he tested positive for elevated levels. but he was legally allowed to have it in is system, and it was not therefore an illegal substance. the problem that the commission had was his lack of "disclosure"....but yah in the end he got his suspension cut in half. its true haha. that was a funny comment though. i liked it.

I just doubt that they would have changed his punishment if all they had to go by was his word you know? i just doubt that every bit of the descision making process is publicized and that if they didnt have a good reason, he would have to serve his full suspension

Let me also point out that Sonnen is not the only culprit here. He's just one of those who was caught. There are Many fighters still juicing. I read an article where a prominent fighter alleged that in his opinion, 50-65% of MMA fighters juice big time. Guys like GSP, Sean Sherk, Cheick Kong, Mir, Lesnar spring to mind. GSP is pretty ripped all year around and he doesn't get injured very often. At the end of the day the risk of worth the reward for these fighters.

However, it also depends on the body of the individual taking the juice. It depends on how it reacts to the juice. Some athletes are able to stay very fit and healthy while on the juice but the problem starts when they get off of it. They usually get hurt in between cycles.

First, you can get ripped without steroids and stay ripped so long as you work out constantly and eat a lot, i know ppl who've done it, its not that hard...
Second, people who EXERCISE in general are less prone to injury because through exercising you build up muscles and strengthen cartilage in your joints, simply juicing isn't going to help.
Third, one pro fighter who says everyone else is juicing isn't really a reliable source. Ppl say that shit out of envy all the time

I just fucking hate the idea of juicing, if it were made legal than all we'd be seeing are competitions of who can handle the most juice and still be functional enough to fight, that would RUIN the sport and turn it into a fucking ape fight instead of skill fight.

@MrShitthead Well, it is interesting that you feel that way because back in the Pride FC days Players were known to be Juicing big time. For one, they did not have a drug testing program of any kind. Secondly, i don't think that Pride minded its fighters Juicing. We still were able to see some great and skillful fights. I think that the UFC or the athletic commission has to implement an olympic blood testing style to really level the playing field and deter Fighters from trying to Juice.

@kanguesso o god here we go... listen, i'm not bashing pride and i NEVER said that pride had no good fights or fighters, but ask yourself this, WHERE THE FUCK DO YOU THINK ALL THOSE FIGHTERS YOU MENTIONED WENT TO??? the ufc, now when i'm comparing the two i'm comparing when they were directly competing, u may not like the truth but no one else cares, the ufc BOUGHT OUT PRIDE because they had more fights people wanted to see. seriously, try and use your brain when posting this shit.

@MrShitthead WOW, so now we're back to the name calling strategy huh? That train is never late. The fighters i have mentioned by the way left pride when pride began to fall apart. Pride to be completely honest was poorly managed. There were rumors of fighters being paid to throw fights and also rumors of management being affiliated with the Japanese Mob. Pride's ultimate demise had nothing to do with competing with the UFC. It was bad management. Obviously the fighters transitioned to the UFC.

@kanguesso well lol, fine i did take it a little too far with the insults.. and honestly i'm NOT DISSING PRIDE, i think pride was great, it produced some amazing fighters, in fact most my favourites came from pride. But the real topic here is steroid usage, i don't like it but i guess you do, agree to disagree

@MrShitthead No, no, no. I never said i liked steroid usage. I have always called for an olympic style blood testing. I know it is expensive and dana would have to foot the bill but at least can do it for major championship fights. I think that Urine tests they give fighters is a complete joke. They can literally be juicing and take that test and pass it.

Athletic Commission should implement an olympic style blood testing. That usual urine testing is a complete joke, and repeat, it is A COMPLETE JOKE. There are so many different banned PEDs that can easily pass that joke of a test with flying colors. There are methods of flushing so many banned substances out of your system in 24-48 hours. Sure, an olympic style blood testing ain't cheap and Dana would have to foot the bill. But at least just do it for Championship fights. STOP THE CHEATING.

At the end of the day the UFC is a business and structuring a business is up to the CEO it has nothing to do with the performance of ther fighters and more to do with making money. I'd say the fighters that draw the money are favoured over fighter performance.

@DasSpooky Kimbo is a dud. He aint no mma fighter and I doubt that he was a money earner for the UFC. They used him while he was a new interest to pull in money but other than that I doubt Dana saw anything long term. SHOW ME THE MONEY!! Don't get me wrong If someones a crap fighter they won't last in the UFC but I believe it is more about business than anything else. If your not pulling crowds then your days would be numbered in the UFC.

@baarni I don't care who does what in the UFC as long as they keep making kick ass fights I'll keep watching them. I don't care who is fighting who or who is using PEDS as long as someone gets their ass handed to them on a plate. It will keep me coming back for more. There is nothing more boring than watching an uneventful fight.

Sonnen most likely threw the fight at the end because he knew he would have been tested.If you watch the fight closely at the end he was practically inviting silva to take the arm bar. I believe his main intention was to just beat the shit out of silva and not so much to win the belt. Also Dana’s reaction and defence of Sonnen when interviewed about the test wreacks of a conspiracy to pull in ratings and money. ENTERTAINMENT IS MONEY. And Sonnen is definately entertaining in and out of the ring.

alot of people are extremely uninformed about steroids. if you think your favorite fighter isnt on something or another than you are just naive. chael sonnen is a great fighter, and he is already being punished enough by the athletic commission. I think its great of dana to not further punish chael. hopefully after his suspension he will come back better than ever and with a new chemist lol.

The truth is nearly every UFC and MMA fighter takes roids and Dana knows it. Why not? MMA fighters only have their blood tested, there are certain roids that can only be picked up in urine so if they took these how would they be caught? On top of this you have Human Growth Hormone, HGH is extremely hard to detect and often can only be found a day after use... it's very hard to catch roiders in MMA!
