I find Niamh totally captivating! My eyes are always drawn to her and she has such a distinctive voice! I hated Andrew for letting her go!! But forgave him when I went to see Love Never Dies and saw Niamh as Flick! We may not always agree with him but he knows what he's doing!

I have to admit I found Niamh slightly annoying in the competition (please don't jump on me for that!) but she absolutely has won me over now with this. I'd really like to see Evita now. Rachel was also amazing in this, but then she always is.
The best sing-off ever. Being biased (cos I loved Niamh from Day 1) I thought Niamh did better, but I knew she wouldn't survive a third sing-off *cries* I don't think she deserved to be in this sing-off at all :(
I wanted Jessie to win, but out of the final 5 I wanted the role to go to either Niamh, Jessie or Rachel all of them were the ones to show true uniqueness and star quality and of course like you, I don't do sympathy votes.
i agree! the irish/northern irish were the best!!! Jesse did so well to get to the final considering none of her friends/family/homeplace could vote for her as the rep. of ireland couldn't vote.
As a rabid Jessie fan, I have to pick you up on that last point. But first the two girls in the video..
Rachel's Cabaret was pretty amazing. I still have no idea why she was in the bottom two that week. My head knows why ALW let her go (she wasn't being voted for) but my heart wants to kick him. Hard.
TBH, I could never see in Niamh what everybody else could. Her TCTTAFM (wk 6) was good, and I quite like IGTMIM (wk 2), but overall I found her voice quite annoying and still under-developed.
Jessie easily had the best voice on the show, IMHO, especially for the MT numbers she could use that 'big alto belt' for. Her dancing wasn't perfect and her straight acting wasn't the best on the show, (that goes to Rachel and Sarah), but she did act well in her performances.
Niamh was my all time favourite and I saw raw emotion from her in this performance. Rachel's good, but I prefered Niahm definately in this performance. I understand though, they are both extremely talented young women!

It definately wasn't as good as the Joseph final which is just fantastic (always rely on Lee Mead to put on a good show!!) but I did like the performances with the olivers. I would have loved Sarah to have been in the final as she was my favourite from the off along with Jodie. I am glad Jodie won as I just couldn't see Jessie in the part. She would make a good Calamity Jane methinks.
Rachel really grew on me throughout the series, at first I really didn't like her as I found her very arrogant and up herself, but I think being in the sing off a few times really humbled her and she became much nicer. Am glad Jodie won though!

They were all good, except Amy who I never quite got how she made it through. Niamh had an amazing voice and stage presence. The only thing I could fault her with is the fact she's really not Nancy. She can be forceful but she's more gentle than anything. She's very strong willed and everything, but I really cannot picture her in a pub during the era.

Well, I actually don't watch this show, and, i've gotta be honest, i was looking for britians got talent when i flicked onto this and i just caught the second half off this song. But, i've gotta say, I saw more talent in that minute or so than the next hour of Britians got talent and I'm very tempted to watch the next series of this (:
Rachel blew Niamh out of the water there. I don't know how Webber could say that she would make a good Evita. That was not a good performance for her.
After Rachel's performance of cabaret tonight she should win, i reckon it tops jessie's version of the man that got away which up until now was my favourite performance (although I dont like jessie hope she doesnt win)
That's assuming that's what she started out doing. Fagin in the book did a lot of dirty things. Nancy is supposed to be rather young and don't forget the era, someone in their 20s would have been considered older.
The exact words are "I've thieved for you (Fagin) since I was a child half his (Oliver) age and 12 years since". Oliver is 10, so Nancy is 17 in the book. But I totally agree that she probably wasn't a prostitute at 5! :-)

Rachel isn't over-acting. There's a huge difference between acting on stage and acting on TV. And the judges are recruiting for a stage Nancy, not a film Nancy.
The thing that makes Rachel so much better than all the other girls is that she sings each song as if she were Nancy. That is the whole point!
I just watched this again. not seen it since the actually programme and its actually made me think i wish rachel had gone. because i like Niamh's tone in this. tho saying that i never saw niamh as nancy. im all for her a eponine tho.
this sing-off was beautiful, i keep watching it. Never heard the song before, but i like the way they split the parts. Niamh and Rachel both have really nice voices, but it was the right choice to save Rachel.
Absolutely adore Niamh's voice in this; she's relaly well suited to the role of Evita, more so than Nancy. I've listened to this sing-off more times than the Madonna version of the song; absolutely loving it :D
This was the most beautiful sing-off.. These two are my favourites (and Jessie).. so sad!! Absolutely stunning performance from both of them, cant stop listening to it!
So sad to see Naimh go! She was great and I really hope she goes onto other things so I can get to see her again! It's ridiculous that Naimh is classed as being too young when everyone obviously wants Sam or Jessie to win! They're only a year older!!
Nancy in the novel and the musical is 17, the same age as niamh. Personally I see Nancy as quite vulnerable, so for me niamh would be right. I guess it's all subjective tho, depends on your interpretation really.
In Victorian times a girl like Nancy aged 17 would have been a thief and a doxy for years, as well as being knocked about by her man. She'd have the look and 'wisdom' way beyond what a 17 year old 'actress' like Niamh (or Sam or Jessie) could portray. Plus, you can be vulnerable at any age.
Shani Wallis in the film version of the musical definitely wasn't 17!
The thing that annoys me is that Niamh hasn't shrunk since the start of the competition... Even if she does look too short, they should have thought of that before putting her into the final 12. i think this was the only thing they could fault her on as she was incredible! and i, being cynical, believe that the panel want sam to win and so are eliminating her competition! I'd love Rachel to win, apart from being the best, it would be good to know Sarah and Niamh were only beaten by the best!
I think thats a fair point to make about her size. I think that it was the right choice for her to go but i will say she was very talented and stunning.
And I think I will be cynical as well as it seems the panel are pushing Sam on the public. So they give her no bad comments to sway the public vote. But she never stands out in missions either does she.. it will be a joke if Sam wins.
The thing is Niamh does look young a lot, especially this week. However, it just meant she wasn't Nancy. He made sure to say just how talented she is, because it's true. She lost this because of her age and Rachel might be shorter, but she stands out among kids because she just looks older.
Rachel did NOT deserve to be there in the bottom two, it should have been Sam. But they were totally fantastic with their sing off. I love it, every night it is the most difficult decision for Lloyd Webber...
I think ALW decided on the entire week's performance rather than that one sing-off as I thought Niamh was much much better than Rachel, but I didn't expect ALW to save anyone three times...
I loved Niamh. But no way did she sing this better than Rachel. Rachel acted this. Niamh didn't. I believed that Rachel was the character she was supposed to be but with Niamh I didn't. So sad to see her go though.:( I much preferred her to Sam and Jessie. But still, she has a very good future ahead of her.
I agree with Katzie 7. ALW actually says that if he was casting for Evita he'd seriously consider Niamh. I think that shows who he preferred in the sing off.

Rachel should NOT have been in the sing-off. She's got everything- the panel says so. and she has never really had any problems. Thank God she was saved by the Lord. Good luck to Niamh though. Good luck to Rachel as well- Rachel to win!!!!
I think this has been my favourite sing off (if you can have favourite sing offs ...) it was sad, but I really enjoyed the performance and I liked the arrangement.
niamh sing off was amazing..however her "as long as he needs me" seemed fairly weak in compared to others, many of them want to really show off, but niamh seemed fairly faint. sam for nancy and lawrence/harry/chester for oliver!
I really think Niamh was stunning in this sing off. She managed to steal the show but it was a good sing off. Rachel's better for the part but Niamh's going to go places.

at least he made the right decision with this sing off, rachel was fantastic. i still like niamh though, but not as much.

i thought niamh was probably the best singer out of the girls.. but, she didn't suit the role of nancy. neither does sam. its not jst a singing contest, they are competing for the role of nancy and sam really doesn't suit the role, i thought that rachel would have made the best nancy

Sam - average singing poor acting skills as demonstrated by her missions
Jodie- not that great a singer acting is quite good
Jessie - can't sing can't act
whatever the result they will not get the same sort of response for the new Nancy as they did for Maria and Joseph...
see with Maria's and Josephs there was much more talent...
the talented few on this show are not in the final

Well, I actually don't watch this show, and, i've gotta be honest, i was looking for britians got talent when i flicked onto this and i just caught the second half off this song. But, i've gotta say, I saw more talent in that minute or so than the next hour of Britians got talent and I'm very tempted to watch the next series of this (:

Rachel blew Niamh out of the water there. I don't know how Webber could say that she would make a good Evita. That was not a good performance for her.

After Rachel's performance of cabaret tonight she should win, i reckon it tops jessie's version of the man that got away which up until now was my favourite performance (although I dont like jessie hope she doesnt win)

That's assuming that's what she started out doing. Fagin in the book did a lot of dirty things. Nancy is supposed to be rather young and don't forget the era, someone in their 20s would have been considered older.

The exact words are "I've thieved for you (Fagin) since I was a child half his (Oliver) age and 12 years since". Oliver is 10, so Nancy is 17 in the book. But I totally agree that she probably wasn't a prostitute at 5! :-)

Huh?! The point of this competition is to find NANCY...not to find the girl with the best personality!
Rachel isn't over-acting. There's a huge difference between acting on stage and acting on TV. And the judges are recruiting for a stage Nancy, not a film Nancy.
The thing that makes Rachel so much better than all the other girls is that she sings each song as if she were Nancy. That is the whole point!

I just watched this again. not seen it since the actually programme and its actually made me think i wish rachel had gone. because i like Niamh's tone in this. tho saying that i never saw niamh as nancy. im all for her a eponine tho.

this sing-off was beautiful, i keep watching it. Never heard the song before, but i like the way they split the parts. Niamh and Rachel both have really nice voices, but it was the right choice to save Rachel.

Absolutely adore Niamh's voice in this; she's relaly well suited to the role of Evita, more so than Nancy. I've listened to this sing-off more times than the Madonna version of the song; absolutely loving it :D

So sad to see Naimh go! She was great and I really hope she goes onto other things so I can get to see her again! It's ridiculous that Naimh is classed as being too young when everyone obviously wants Sam or Jessie to win! They're only a year older!!

Niamh was never going to be Nancy. Nancy is meant to be someone who's been around a while and had a tough life, she's just a kid her self.

Nancy in the novel and the musical is 17, the same age as niamh. Personally I see Nancy as quite vulnerable, so for me niamh would be right. I guess it's all subjective tho, depends on your interpretation really.

In Victorian times a girl like Nancy aged 17 would have been a thief and a doxy for years, as well as being knocked about by her man. She'd have the look and 'wisdom' way beyond what a 17 year old 'actress' like Niamh (or Sam or Jessie) could portray. Plus, you can be vulnerable at any age.
Shani Wallis in the film version of the musical definitely wasn't 17!

The thing that annoys me is that Niamh hasn't shrunk since the start of the competition... Even if she does look too short, they should have thought of that before putting her into the final 12. i think this was the only thing they could fault her on as she was incredible! and i, being cynical, believe that the panel want sam to win and so are eliminating her competition! I'd love Rachel to win, apart from being the best, it would be good to know Sarah and Niamh were only beaten by the best!

I think thats a fair point to make about her size. I think that it was the right choice for her to go but i will say she was very talented and stunning.
And I think I will be cynical as well as it seems the panel are pushing Sam on the public. So they give her no bad comments to sway the public vote. But she never stands out in missions either does she.. it will be a joke if Sam wins.

The thing is Niamh does look young a lot, especially this week. However, it just meant she wasn't Nancy. He made sure to say just how talented she is, because it's true. She lost this because of her age and Rachel might be shorter, but she stands out among kids because she just looks older.

Rachel did NOT deserve to be there in the bottom two, it should have been Sam. But they were totally fantastic with their sing off. I love it, every night it is the most difficult decision for Lloyd Webber...

I think ALW decided on the entire week's performance rather than that one sing-off as I thought Niamh was much much better than Rachel, but I didn't expect ALW to save anyone three times...

I loved Niamh. But no way did she sing this better than Rachel. Rachel acted this. Niamh didn't. I believed that Rachel was the character she was supposed to be but with Niamh I didn't. So sad to see her go though.:( I much preferred her to Sam and Jessie. But still, she has a very good future ahead of her.

Rachel should NOT have been in the sing-off. She's got everything- the panel says so. and she has never really had any problems. Thank God she was saved by the Lord. Good luck to Niamh though. Good luck to Rachel as well- Rachel to win!!!!

I think this has been my favourite sing off (if you can have favourite sing offs ...) it was sad, but I really enjoyed the performance and I liked the arrangement.

niamh sing off was amazing..however her "as long as he needs me" seemed fairly weak in compared to others, many of them want to really show off, but niamh seemed fairly faint. sam for nancy and lawrence/harry/chester for oliver!
