The chorus doesn't sound like a complete rip off. It sounds like the "I want" and "him" in the chorus's lyrical content may be an homage to Elliot. The music isn't the same. Really all you have to do is listen to any other song in Sufjan's catalog to realize he doesn't have to rip people off.

Sufjan Stevens was a student in a grade above me. He was so handsome. I had a crush on him as did probably everyone else. Alanson High School is where he attended. Sufjan has another brother who I think was older and some sisters. They all had odd names since most other kids were named Tom, Dick and Harry. lol. Nice to see he made something of his life.
