@THEtyni1 I don't want to start something, but I think you saying that if 'you aren't moved to tears by this song then you have no heart' is ignorant. I am a very emotional person, however, some things that would reduce me to tears might not you. People express their emotions differently. Some people think crying is a sign of weakness, but just because they don't cry doesn't mean they are heartless. They express emotions differently. I cried the first time I heard this song, but I heard it in p
Oh my god, I love this song and John Barrowman. I didn't even know he sang! I just knew him from Torchwood and I'm doing this song for my vocal class! I was surprised to see him on here.
I sang this song at state, and my judge bursted into tears. I got a 1 :) MUCH RESPECT TO ALL THE SOLDIERS DYING FOR THEIR COUNTRY! MY HEART GOES OUT TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILIES! GOD BLESS AMERICA
In an honors chorus today...the tenors and basses sang this and it was so beautiful. All the sopranos (including me) and altos sat down and just listened, and the clapping rang throughout the building. I've never heard this song before today, but it is truly just outstanding...wish we'd recorded the boys' performance.
the community theatre that i'm part of does this song every memorial day weekend for a show called "A Salute to the Troops". they do this song in a three part chorus. its so beautiful and heartwarming. it makes you think about what our soldiers think about when they feel that they might not be coming back.
@signwalker12 I know. For awhile this song was hard for me to listen to because of my brother Kevin going to Afghanistan...then he came home, but he was injured. He's fine now but I completely understand completely. That's so cool your town does that
every version of this song has me almost in tears but this is the first one to actually make me cry. its such an emotional song and he did it so well. I love John's voice and think he is absolutely amazing and would love to see him live one day
this summer i took a musical theater techniques class and one of the guys sang this song and he did such an amazing job, i cried. no offense way better then john.
You weren't perchance apart of SRO were you? I took a musical theatre techniques class too and someone sang this song (very well by the way) as well, and i didnt know if you were in it haha.
man... i have done a solo for this song as well. my greatest wishes for you. i say just let god sing through you. this is a song you want your audience to weep as you weep. spill your heart into. this isnt just a song, its a blessing.
alright everyone who is talking about doing this with their choir is right that version does sound better but the reason it does is not who sings it its the harmony used and the men's choir is doing this song for a national competition with harmony we made up it sounds good becausee theres more voicies this song was actually made for a solo tho in the musical civil war so stop sayin how great your music is and appreciate the solo lol
Thank you - this gives me goosebumps - lovely song, performance and video-clip. I'm in Australia and got to know these beautiful songs and even John Barrowman himself through YouTube. I've been looking for the music to buy but would never have come across it otherwise.
I don't understand how this would be infringing copyrights... I'm sure no one would think to sue or take down a video with audio quality like this. Still a beautiful song, regardless. One of the quintessential tenor solos, I'd say.
I am not taking money from John, people have already told me that by publishing these on Youtube, it's helped make up their minds to go buy the cds. I am doing this because I remember when I wanted to hear the songs before I bought it, and yet I couldn't find any of the songs. I'm sorry this seems to bother you, but if anything I'm helping John make more money, because of the amount of people who have told me their gonna buy the songs.
I'm glad you posted these songsm because I never would have heard them otherwise. I know now, that not only is John and fantastic actor, but a brilliant singer as well. So thank you!

What I don't like about this technically perfect version is that it sounds too polished and, perhaps, posh and, as a result, inauthentic.
