  • Jammer dat u niet meer van de achterkant van het hotel hebt opgenomen, waar vzv ik mij herinner als het inderdaad dit hotel was - ik denk het wel - waar mijn ouders en wij hun kinderen overnacht hebben toen wij met een KLM vliegtuig op weg waren naar en van Indonesia (ik ben daar geboren) - ik mij herinner dat je van de achterkant zo - op het strand kon, althans er was een soort balustrade, als ik mij goed herinner...mercy ik was toen 3 denk ik. Maar sommige dingen vergeet je nooit. Dank u!

  • Thank you Michael for this rare footage of the real Raffles Hotel. I used to do house calls there in the late seventies and early eighties. They had rooms named after famous people who lived there--Somerset Maugham ,Elizabeth Taylor to name a few. The floors used to creaked at night as they were made of wood and the pool used to be on the ground floor by the garden outside the bar.

  • I was there in1979?..a mere 19 year old!..the Raffles was one of the places I visited..wonderful place..so much history?..of course I had the obligatory Singapore Sling!...other notable sites were Boogie Street?..thanks..brought back a lot of fond memories..

  • I took them myself in 16mm for a documentary film on Malaysia, broadcast in 1962 on Dutch television.
