  • I love this video I have been going to the shop and she always cuts chunks out of my hair and it seems my hair never gets any real length. I also have decided to transition to natural hair and this will be a big help. Not a fan of the big chop so I'm going slow with it. Thanks

  • R.I.P. jackie chan

  • Seeing the thumbnail I had to check this video out. My hair is a couple inches shorter than yours, but I tried this technique. I wanted to be the one who cut my hair. It just seemed right to me, and simple this way not seeing it done anywhere. Didn't work too well for me. Fingers are too unevenly shaped and hair slips through. For a perfectionist freak like me I need ultimate precision and so I opt for Feye's method. Unfortunately my hair is too short to do that, so I just S&D for now.

  • i just did this method, and i must say it worked great! thanks so much for showing me how. i did a better job then the shop.

  • I love this vid....thank u for sharing :)

  • A lot of my previous stylist would cut my hair, not trim CUT. I would always leave with my hair shorter than what i came in as. It seemed after so many months i would always have that same length. I told the stylist well it looks like my hair is not growing. she would say it was but she just was cutting way too much off. I don't see the point if they do that all the time. I found a lady finally that would not cut off that much and now i actually see a lot of growth.

  • this is a good technique too...

    im trying this next time...

  • I luv this technique, thx! Was able to trim my natural hair:D

  • Love the demo. Very informative. Thanks!

  • I love your makeup!!!

  • I love your instructions. Very easy to understand

  • This trim is not a reliable way to trim, you can still have un-even hair-you need another person to trim the back of your hair properly.

I know hair grows back but I want longer hair and aint taking no risks to having fucked up hair.

  • My hair is not an even length throughout my whole head like yours ( i have layers throughout my hair) so I'm afraid that I won't catch all of my scraggly ends.

  • Thanks am so happy I ran to ur channel I have being doing this method to my hair and I love it and its easy thanks

  • love this video. thank you so much!!!!

  • thank you for posting this video. i will definitely try this technique. never trimmed my hair for myself. will see how this goes. (keeping fingers crossed)

  • i love this video! i really need to learn how to trim my own hair. the stylist CUT my hair when i say trim. my hair ends up shorter than it was when i enter the salon.

  • you helped me SOOO MUCH!!!

  • ur reallyyy pretty (:

  • I thought that was a trim, isn't a dusting where you target all split ends like search and destroy?!?!

  • I also cut my own hair. I have shorter hair than you, but I use the same tecnique, only that I have to cut my hair "blindly" in the back trusting in my ability to combe it strait, and keeping my fingers in a straight line. Afterwards I trim the sides a bit so they match up with the lengt I cut in the back, and finishing it off with layering it a bit using the same procedure as you did. People often comment on that I always manage to keep my hair so neatly cut and in good condition. *lol*

  • i had started "dusting" and didn't even know that it was a technique.. lol.. i just knew that my hair had grown out sooo much and i did NOT want to go to a stylist and they cut chunks of "dead hair" off...so i started trimming myself.. exactly what you did except i never brushed it all up like that.. i just combed it all back and then on the sides... i get so many compliments on how healthy it looks and a stylist never touched it!

  • Thanks for a clear, precise explanation. I wish you the best.

  • u r very pretty! and i like this video so i subscribed! :) be blessed!

o yea and i like that u said dont be scared ur only takin off a lil...that really encouraged me!

  • Sauvage is French for 'savage'. I guess it means that it's not straight across.

  • i love the hair trimming video!!it works. i don't let any stylist trim my hair because they always cut too much. thanks!

  • Your lips are soooooo juicy i love them (no homo) xx

  • thank you! so helpful and also just have to say i have those same exact ear rings.lol.

  • sauvage is french for wild

  • how often do you do this?

  • not often...maybe every 2-3 months...or as needed.

  • Thanx for the vid!! I tried both of your techniques and THEY WORK!!!! :o)

  • thank you... I'm glad that you found this technique useful :)

  • I agree with you on 6:40 because most stylists at salons get "scissor happy" and cut all your hair off before you leave.

  • Thanks for posting! I am always nerves about going to a stylist to get my hair cut. I will definately try this out

  • great vid! best i've seen so far on the subject:)

  • this is the best method i've seen haven't tried this technique...thank you for this video and being straight to the point...

  • That pony tail thing is a good idea for us with short hair.

  • Thanx hunn very very helpful I love ur nails.....

  • sauvage = wild

  • Thanks for this video. I haven't had a trim since April and it was much needed but budget it too tight to go to the salon. This video saved me time, money and a lot of headache.

  • thanks for this video and congrats on going natural! I'm going to try this out sometime this weekend. super nervous, tho!

  • thanks and hair does grow back.

  • How do you suggest I trim the back of my hair to maintain the "v" shape I have?

  • What do you use to straighten your hair?

  • Your nails look nice did u do them?

  • Yes I did do them, thank you!

  • My hair is just up to my collar bone and i'm trying to grow it out. I have a few layers not much. Last time i cut it was a few months ago and i cut it with kitchen scissors (i know big mistake). Now i have more split ends. My hair is healthy except for these ends and i really want them off but hate going to the hairdressers. Where can i get some cutting scissors and which ones should i use?

  • Depending on your budget you can go to your local beauty supply store. My first pair of shears were ordered from a catalog ( those were the ones that I used on clients) I lost them and ended up buying some from walmart lol! As long as they are sharp you can get a good cut!

  • Thankyou! :)

  • thanks.

  • thank you so much....times are hard and you are saving me lots.......

  • I totally understand... I haven't been to a salon in years:)

  • thank you so much they are crazy at the salon always cutting more than needed. i just started my journey:)

  • what about if your hair is shorter in some places then how would you trim it

  • allow the shorter hair to " catch up to the rest of your hair. Basically leave it alone:)

  • thank u for the tutorial. I hate salons trimming my hair, its either uneven or they cut 2 to 4 in off.

  • Hey so if I don't want layers should I opt out of pulling my hair all the way to the top? I'm trying to gradually cut away the layers I got at the salon...

    Nice video!

  • yes, pull you hair down in four sections and use previously cut hair as a guide.

  • A-ha! I thought my hair would naturally fall into layers if I grabbed it all, pulled it up and cut. It was just logical; based on the length of hair from every part of the head up to the ends, as it's pulled up, it would naturally vary in length. Thanks! I'm going to trim my hair this weekend.

  • Yes, you can always attack those areas on a stand by stand basis. You can take litlle sections at a time, inspect the ends and cut off all of the troubled areas.

  • hi should i cut off my knots too on my hair strands? i have knots, split ends, and thin ends lol.

  • That was nice! Thanks a lot.

  • Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • You made it so easy cutting your own hair. I just love this natural hair phenomenon.

  • nice technic

  • Thanks.... it's quick and easy... I learned it in beauty school.

  • tried this as I watched ur vid came out grrreeeeat!

  • So happy it did!

  • OMG I wish I saw ya vid before cuting my hair.

  • I had a layer in my hair

&& using ur tips i cut my hair

It came out pretty gudd. . .

But when i wear my hair down

    On the sides it doesnt

    Look even. . .

    But it does work

    So try it ppl lol

    Thanks 4the tips hunn!!!

  • Great video. I plan to implement your tips into my own hair regimen. Thanks.

  • You have no idea how you've just saved me! I've been avoided the salon cuz they always wanna wack to the scalp. Thanks for the info on a true dusting.

  • Love this video! That is what a TRIM should be. I made an appt. for a relaxer over the weekend, stylist asked me if I needed a trim and I told her I would do it myself and she looked at me like I was crazy. I don't know why stylists feel as though they are the ONLY ones that know how to trim hair. Most of the time you ask for a trim and they CUT it. But anyway, lol..I will be trying your method once I get my relaxer tomorrow.

  • lol right after i saw your video i went and trimmed my hair. it was much needed. only clipped off an inch. thank you =)

  • Thanks for this video girl, very helpful, because I normally let my mom do this for me.

  • OMG!! THX i have been searching youtube for a vid on this and this has been the best do it your self method thx OH YEA BY THE WAY U KNO I HAD TO SUBSCRIBE YA! LOL thx hun keep em comin

  • Great tutorial, this is great for the ones that don't want to chance going to the hairdresser.

  • wow, that's very easy, thanks very much!!! i need to cut my ends and i don't to track down my usual girl to do it for me.

  • Thanks for the tip!

  • Girl!!! Thank you...I will try this tomorrow, and save the thirty bucks I usually spend for my trim.

  • Good tip. I usually get my husband to clip my ends. he hates doing it so I will be doing this for now on. thanks

  • i don't let salons cut my hair because i don't trust them. LOL.

  • Yeah, I know what you mean.
