  • Did Anyone Notice The URL Says Bl0w?

  • Boots played sax for Elvis through much of the 60s up to about '67 or so. Played on a lot of great bluesy stuff of his like Reconsider Baby, I Feel So Bad, Like a Baby, Down in the Alley, Hi-Heel Sneakers.

  • Oh, what fun!!!

  • I remember going to the Montgomery Ward store near where I lived in Kansas City, MO in 1965 to 1967, In the stereo and tv department the were forever paying the Boots Randolph YACKETY SAX album. I never tired of hearing it. Wards is where I bought my first portable stereo Christmas, 1965. Did a lot of lowing out in Kansas to earn the money to buy it. What memories!!!!! 16 years old at the time.

  • I miss Benny Hill

  • @montmorg67 Yes, she was a Benny Hill girl before she was on Frasier.

  • Boots (real name Homer) Randolph played the sax on most of Elvis' 1960's recordings. Check out his fantastic solos on "Reconsider baby", "Witchcraft" and "I feel so bad". Also "Return to sender" was Boots playing too.

  • This makes me want to run around with a bevy of beauties chasing me.

  • I want this song played at my funeral.

  • Lay down & get ready for some good Sax.

  • I don't suppose anyone would have the audio track of Boots doing Harlem Nocturne off the old Hip Boots album?

  • Another song from the soundtrack of my childhood.

  • Yoshi321 shut the fuck up, Boots is Legendary and possibly one of the best sax players ever.

Thanks for the memory! I grew up with this Boots Randolph 45rpm record as a child and it, like many others in my collection (pre-kindergarten, 1967) were SCRATCHED beyond recognition! I'm glad I found it on you tube (that should be their ad catch phrase). Take care!

  • Couldn't believe it. Staying in RV park in Mission Tx. and there next to me was Boots.

Sorry to hear of his death.

  • Wonder how many thousands of time Boots Randolf played that song?

    Rest in Peace "Boots"

    Homer Louis "Boots" Randolph III June 3, 1927 – July 3, 2007

He was best known for his 1963 saxophone hit, "Yakety Sax"

  • Homer Louis Randolph ( Boots ) and Benny Hill.

  • Yakety Sax forever!!!!!!!

  • this song has replaced religion ,for me.

  • what's a yakety sax?

  • I wonder if those two ever met face to face?

  • The original is different from the Benny Hiil theme, and little slower. But it's still awesome. ^^

  • Hey this song is great... it can be used for so many funny things too! And thats why Boots Randolph is my profile picture!

  • -ZZounds what sounds!!! "YaketySax" Boots on Tenor-sax... -was written by- James Q. "Spider" Rich, released as a 45-rpm single by Boots Randolph in 1963... when he was a handsome young-man appearing on telethons introducing this tune to astonished viewers, often backed by a famous BigBand...

  • omg pepper

  • Comment removed

  • This should be played during every UK cabinet meeting.

  • funny song.. :)

  • For some reason, I would have played this during WWII, whenever the French would launch "a relentless offensive" against Germans.

  • A drunk guy asked me to play this at a jazz gig once...He was insulted when I told him, "Are you Kidding me? then he told me that I sucked...

  • And you do! ^^ Yakety Sax is awesome, and a great way to make fun of the square Jazz losers that have their noses so high that it rains into them.

  • Til some no good so and so broke into my house and stole all my cassettes and most of my CDs I had the Chet,Floyd and Boots album. Little tip:don't EVER play this with a comb and wax paper "harmonica".It tickles too much to finish.

  • That was Boots Randolph it was his first hit back in 1962. It was country.

  • However, this particular recording was the original, for RCA Victor, made in 1958. The one that hit in 1963 was a re-recording for Monument.

  • Boots was a great man.

  • My! I've just looked at Wiki right now and saw he had passed away in 2007. I didn't even know about that, it's a pity that papers don't divulge anything else about great artists like him. "Yakety Sax" was his trademark, he'll always be remembered!

  • Yeah, I knew about it because he and I lived in Nashville, Tennessee. I worked with his grandson for a few years.

    "Yakety Sax" is #1

  • @kenadkison Yep, I second you!!

  • SOOOOO GOOOD SONG:D It was funny when we listened this in our trip to Tenerife and ran around our hotel:D

  • es k este video solo lo ven los ingleses?

  • 1:51 = lol

  • Benny Hill was the funniest!!!

  • When I was a kid growing up in Baltimore in the '60s, Gerry Wheeler hosted a children's tv show on Channel 13. On that show, he played a tramp/clown named Lorenzo. As that character, he used to do a dance to Yakety Sax he called the Lorenzo Stomp. When I was five years old, I had a chance to meet Mr. Wheeler. Channel 13 has its headquarters on a major hill in Baltimore appropriately called TV Hill. So, when I met THE Lorenzo, it was like meeting a god from Olympus. Good memories.

  • To 'TWELS20': From my understanding, it was this original 1958 RCA Victor recording that Mr. Wheeler's show used, and its repeated plays were what prompted Mr. Randolph - by then, with Monument - to re-record it, and that re-recording was the one that finally took off.

  • boots was one the best. rest in peace.

  • LOL, darth vader!

  • I had a bad day today, but thanks to your post, and a couple of beers, I am smiling. thank you

  • they should have played it at Benny Hills funeral

  • I hope they play it at my Wedding, Funeral, my kid's birth, and every birthday of mine.

  • Oh, I'll waste my final wish to make sure they play this and do wacky things when carrying my coffin out at my funeral if I have to.

  • Wouldn't this make a perfect alarm to wake up to in the morning? *note the sarcasm.

  • reminds me of robot

    chicken

  • Oh, I forgot. That would be Daphne on "Frasier."

Jane was only a Hill's Angel for a short time in the early '80s.

  • If I'm not mistaken, the scantily-clad woman in the b&w pic at 1:18 is none other than a young Jane Leeves, one of Benny's Hill's Angels.

  • busque tanto este tema, es fabuloso, felicitaciones y saludos, Luciano

  • classic song

  • good haha :)

  • Yep the tune is awesome, but shows today are jocking this awsome music and do the chas, etc. Benny hill is an awesome comedian. Hmmm, Coolio!

  • too many shows have stolen the whole running rutine for themselves (simpsons getting chased by death) How ever check out zeropunctuation, assasins creed for a funny version of this (honest its funny)

  • Robot Chicken uses a versoin of the song for the funeral of Benny Hill skit and in the Star Wars episode with Darth vader as the guest on some show. Yakety Sax is a good song but I like the Robot Chicken version better, because its more upbeat.

  • You DO know that David Prowse, the man in the Darth Vader costume, made a couple of uncredited appearances on The Benny Hill Show, once in '69 and the other around '82.

  • I had to check out this song due to the assassins creed review! great fun, that guys a genious!
